I'm glad it's today! The leaking of these stories is so damaging to so many people who are worrying 😩

Deelish75 · 31/10/2020 12:54

Also glad it’s today. You can’t leave people wondering what the hell us going on.

Chris Whitty and Sir Patrick Vallance accompanying him.

WindFlower92 · 31/10/2020 12:56

BBC? Just looked and the rugby is on, people won't be happy!

PatchworkElmer · 31/10/2020 12:56

Well, I’d rather know today than spend the weekend wondering!

ASchuylerSister · 31/10/2020 12:57

It’s so shit of them to leak everything via the press first.

Glad they’re holding a press conference today so we can find out what’s what.

MarshaBradyo · 31/10/2020 12:58

Good the waiting is hideous

Deelish75 · 31/10/2020 12:59

It’s only just been announced.

Try the news channel or sky news.

howsers · 31/10/2020 12:59

I get why they leak it but some clarity will be good.

drinkingwineoutofamug · 31/10/2020 13:02

Must be bad boris working at the weekend 🤷🏻‍♀️

mrshoho · 31/10/2020 13:03

Has it just been quoted that without action now we will see deaths of 4000 per day?

movingonup20 · 31/10/2020 13:03

BBC will move things around or possibly the time will fit in with the rugby, it's last minute! There conversations yesterday has been leaked so they had to bring forward it seems.

Thimbleberries · 31/10/2020 13:04

I hope that doesn't mean starting on Monday instead of on Wednesday, but I bet it does. Or at least Tuesday. :(

MushMonster · 31/10/2020 13:06

Will watch intently.
Maybe next time they can do the goverment announcement first and the newspapers secondHmm

Thesearmsofmine · 31/10/2020 13:06

I’m glad it’s today, I have felt really anxious since I read about the leaks last night which is really unlike me.

Jourdain11 · 31/10/2020 13:07

Apparently they are holding the cabinet meeting now. Number 10 very angry that there was a leak. Makes it sound, to me, that they have not absolutely agreed or decided on at least the details.

JosephineDeBeauharnais · 31/10/2020 13:08

He won’t say anything new. He’ll say things are bad, getting worse in places, comply to save Xmas, considering further restrictions, schools stay open, work from home, wear a mask piffle waffle piffle waffle.
Then he’ll be forced to come out again mid week and say national lockdown from next weekend.
I won’t be watching.

FedUpOfAllThis · 31/10/2020 13:08

On a Saturday, well that’s surprised me. Is he just going to announce the lockdown early or try and blag us all and say this so called leak is inaccurate.

MarshaBradyo · 31/10/2020 13:08

Op Where did you see they were angry at leak?
BlanchflowerTulip · 31/10/2020 13:08

Suspect it's a national lockdown. Dismal news all round.

Deelish75 · 31/10/2020 13:09

Does Parliament have to vote on a lockdown first? If so then how can he announce one today?

BenchHench · 31/10/2020 13:10

Lockdown starting Thursday.

Jourdain11 · 31/10/2020 13:11

@MarshaBradyo, it was reported on Sky - am I allowed to link?

OP posts:
Elphame · 31/10/2020 13:13

I wonder if he'll do a Drakeford? Calling a press conference just to say he'll tell us what's happening on Monday

Jourdain11 · 31/10/2020 13:13

@Deelish75

The Coronavirus Act still allows them to act unilaterally and debate later in the case of emergency. IIRC, this was agreed on the proviso that it would be courteous to ensure debate happened beforehand wherever possible.

If they announce today, before parliament sits, no doubt the government will get a roasting from the speaker, but what does it change? They still have the right to do it... Confused

Hey yes go for it

I wondered what the deal was as so many on here say they leak on purpose
