It's NOT about Covid per se . It's about space !!!

If YOUR hospital has 30 critical care beds ... and YOUR granny /mother /child has ANY emergency that requires THAT bed / doctor ... but can't get in it because some stupid fucker thought THEIR need for going out to meet their mates was more important.. how WOULD YOU FEEL ??

Put yourselves in THAT position. What is YOUR priority ?

Money ?
Income ?
Job ?
Social life ?

Don't know about you lot but I would rather be on the street destitute , if any of MY children's lives were on the line Money doesn't come in to it...

I can say that as someone with no savings and £2.20 in the bank atm ..(renting) .. so no secret slush fund to fall back on ...

Here's a story. A true one. A baby was born, very very ill, resus team ill, into SCBU they went. Later that night, twins were born, prem, very very ill, resus team ill, one into SCBU, oh no more beds, the other twin sent to SCBU in the next county.

Try saying that to the over 70’s that come in to my work for complete non essential trips. It’s not just the young! I had a woman in her 80’s the other day, pull her mask down to ask for something - I mean what you doing?!

No by no means not just the young .. everyone not doing what is needed to be done !

I understand what you’re saying, and I agree to an extent (I’ve followed all of the rules form the very beginning). But if I’m destitute on the streets, so is my child. My first and main priority is keeping my child SAFE. Safe includes them having a roof to sleep under and food to eat. And the reality is I need my job/money/income to provide those things.

Of course if my child’s life was on the line, I’d give it all up in heartbeat (my DC was required one of those beds a couple of years ago, I’ll never forget the fear). But no, I don’t expect people to sacrifice their ability to provide for their family incase I, or someone I love hypothetically needs a hospital bed.

Who are you to tell people what they need to hear? FYI people aren't just catching it out with mates!!!! People are catching it living their daily life! And keeping a roof over my kids heads is pretty fucking important

Don’t be mean? Well if they can’t follow the rules they shouldn’t be going out should they? It doesn’t matter to me, I’m 40, bmi of 21, female with no underlying health conditions, so I don’t panic that I’ll need a bed in ICU.

I do worry though that if I have it (I assume I wouldn’t have much in the way of symptoms, because I rarely get colds (2 in 5 years) that I’d potentially pass it on at work.

Personally I think we should just get on with life and the vulnerable/elderly should be sheltered and cared for, whilst the rest of us get out and work etc....

So yes it gets my back up, when the very group we’re ALL having to have our lives turned upside down - to try and protect, can’t follow the basic rules.....

What don't you understand ... you can go on about hospital space till your blue in the face. It quite clearly isn't overriding thousands of years of human psychology/biology to be social. Especially when at the end of the day for the vast majority, it wont result in them being in hospital. Causing people mental breakdowns to save someone who is basically a random at the end of the day isn't going to hold up.

I'm not saying its right or wrong, but that's just how it is. People need to interact with friends and family. And fucking virtual zoom chats are not the equivalent. The longer this goes on the more people will cave.

Yes the whole situation is shit. But I dont blame people for trying to find a shred of a social life.

I don't know OP, but they're not stupid people so I don't understand it either. I think maybe it's a form of denial. When faced with how damaging their actions are they turn nasty. Hence the constant "bore off" shit, like they've just said the wittiest put down ever??

This whole thing is scary, so I can see why someone would want to believe that the whole world is "hysterical" than accept that this is shit no matter what we do. Maybe their MH can't handle the reality of the situation, but I wish they weren't so agressive about it.

It’s an airborne virus, you can get it from anywhere, not just the numpty needing a pint. Give your head a wobble.

I think a lot of people will only admit there is a problem when it’s happening that second and is in their face.

Some people won’t accept that the NHS could be completely swamped until it actually happens. The NHS struggles with flu most winters. This winter it will have flu and Covid to deal with.

I really feel for the staff in the NHS, hope they know how much they are appreciated.

I don’t disagree with your last point which is why this whole saga is ridiculous! Folk should be allowed to get on with their lives full stop and be the risk assessor for they’d own life

We need to stop this horrible blame culture and stop treating people who have covid as dirty rule breakers.

And it's rarely a case of health over money - that's just a little sound bite. I want my children to keep healthy so I need to keep a roof over their head and food in their belly. Poverty kills. Being destitute and on the street kills. Being destitute and on the street would put my children at huge risk of all sorts of issues not just covid.

Covid isn't the only thing people have to worry about.

My eldest is now in his second stint of self isolation. We have followed the rules yet here we are. We will continue to follow the rules, but understand that doesn't mean we are safe, just at a lower risk than if we were out socialising all the time.
