That’s that then. Second lockdown now guaranteed.

Because these new measures will NOT reduce the R. Not a chance in hell.

My ‘locked down’ areas cases have continued to rise despite the ‘measures’ in place.

People will just assume things aren’t that bad, otherwise we’d be in lock down. Schools will be a major source of transmission (and save your wishful thinking, we all know what is happening there). People will just cram in to pubs earlier.

We are now guaranteed a second lockdown within the next three/four weeks.

Try test and trace not tracking people down for ELEVEN DAYS after exposure. So the person who has been exposed has been in the community for 11 days already and is now isolating for three days. Another reason de spread. Said person would have isolated immediately had they known. It's a farce.

I'm putting my money on partial and local lockdowns until the end of November, then a total lockdown for two weeks (children will break up from school early for Christmas). This should bring the numbers down low enough that everyone will shop like mad through the second half of December, have a free for all Christmas, and then probably numbers rising again into the new year, when we may lockdown again.

Mainly because I've got a big birthday at the end of November and I'm just betting that that will be stuffed, in order to give low enough numbers to remove all restrictions for Christmas.

The inadequacies of Test and Trace 9 months in are the single most important reason why we haven't properly got it under control.

Covid-denying misinformation is second.

I know. But 11 days?!?!?

IWantToBeMelissaWhenIGrowUp · 23/09/2020 13:24

@BishopBrennansArse I don't think I've seen you round for ages, have you had a hiatus? Im a longterm MNer who has had 8 million NCs recently but think I remember you from SN boards? Apologies if I'm thinking of someone else entirely Blush

It's a bloody farce and no mistake.

@IWantToBeMelissaWhenIGrowUp yep that's me.... I'm not on here much any more, life has been interesting this year to say the least

Since yesterday it seems the feeling in the press, in the radio, are all leaning to second lockdown with schools open at first.

Maybe they've googled "the iron law of geometric progression" and realised that the numbers in 7 or 8 days are pretty likely to be around double what they were today. And keep doubling.

Despite the new measures..
