Another National Lockdown

What are the chances ? Sky News are reporting the possibility and a second lockdown has become a reality in Israel.

How likely do you think it is ?

It is possible, but I can't see it being as well accepted as the first one.

I had a very difficult lockdown first time around. I was made redundant (though reasons were not Covid related) and nearly lost both of my elderly parents without ever being able to see them again.

If there is another lockdown then I really just won't feel particularly inclined to comply.

Grapefruitcauliflower · 13/09/2020 21:22

I think it’s fairly inevitable given the testing fiasco Sad

jasjas1973 · 13/09/2020 21:23

Will be difficult for Johnson to tell us all to stop doing x y or z when he advocates breaking the law and supports people who get round lockdown for their wives birthday.

It's all become a bit of a joke now.

kittensarecute · 13/09/2020 21:23

No no no I can't do it again. Sad

RingORingORoses · 13/09/2020 21:24

Highly probable

The poster saying they ‘won’t comply’.... you won’t have much choice with everything closed again

whatswithtodaytoday · 13/09/2020 21:26

I'm guessing, as is the way of this government, they're running it on Sky News to see what the public feeling is.

It's going to be shit if we have one, obviously. I'm mainly worried about having my toddler at home again while we're trying to work. I'm not even sure how I got through it last time.

DianaT1969 · 13/09/2020 21:29

Unlikely. What's to be gained? Lots of people (who can) are already working from home. Social distancing and masks are the norm on public transport and in shops.
They know the main reason for the current spread is young people socialising, outbreaks at food packaging plants and several super spreaders returning from Greece and Spain who went on pub crawls and to parties instead of quarantining.
Some care homes are still employing casual staff who work between several homes.

ramblingsonthego · 13/09/2020 21:34

I think they would close pubs and restaurants before another lockdown to see what that does first. It is economic suicide for a second lockdown though and I do worry about my job.

Malachite234 · 13/09/2020 21:36

I also feel like “I can’t”. I’m just not sure I can mentally cope!

I feel like it’s coming, especially with the upcoming flu season adding to the confusion and strain on the NHS.

The local lockdown isn't working. I live quite near Bolton where everything is shut again, our infection rate is less than half of that in Bolton. My FB feed has loads of people I know from Bolton in restaurants and pubs here instead.

PineappleUpsideDownCake · 13/09/2020 21:37

I read somewhere about shelding again but cant find the details. Im v obese and wondering what that would mean as kids at school this time.

Shamrocksunshine · 13/09/2020 21:38

Possibly a shorter, sharper one? Not sure. Truly haven’t got a clue. It’s going to be a different experience in the winter that’s for sure.

Grim.

PineappleUpsideDownCake · 13/09/2020 21:38

I cant see them closing schools.

PremierInn · 13/09/2020 21:39

Why not? Let's all just stay at home on furlough for the next two years.

RingORingORoses · 13/09/2020 21:39

If pubs and restaurants close again I can’t see there being any gov help this time round

I think schools will close a week ( or 2) before half term while situation is reassessed

notevenat20 · 13/09/2020 21:40

I think they will completely ban social mixing before that.

Malachite234 · 13/09/2020 21:41

@PremierInn

Deary me - I hope not!

PremierInn · 13/09/2020 21:42

I'm knackered. I've worked full pelt the last six months let's all swap and I'll stay home the next six

Fololomolo · 13/09/2020 21:42

The thing is when cases start rising exponentially it could need a quick effective set of measures to get it under control. Maybe a full lockdown is what is needed? I am not sure if messing around with half measures for a month before eventually giving in and going in to lockdown later is a great idea either

pandafunfactory · 13/09/2020 21:43

No it's not going that way. Schools have to stay open, the wheels of the economy have to keep turning. Curfew is a possibility though.

Fluffycloudland77 · 13/09/2020 21:43

It won’t work though, Dominic Cummings didn’t abide by the rules last time & people won’t forget that.

JulesCobb · 13/09/2020 21:45

I honestly believe too many jobs were classed as
‘Key worker’ jobs last time.

MarshaBradyo · 13/09/2020 21:46

No it’s a terrible way to go

Too expensive. Children missing out again

pontypridd · 13/09/2020 21:46

They’ll have to police it heavily if there’s a second lock down. I can’t see people being as compliant as last time.

There’s now so much more distrust in the government than before.

user1471439240 · 13/09/2020 21:47

It is nudge theory, paint what will be if you don’t comply. Unfortunately it will come, compliance has not come easily to the populace. Weeks not months.
