can we cancel the coronavirus?

If you compare Coronavirus deaths to like TB or whatever, it's really not a big deal. No deaths in Scotland in about 6 weeks and very few deaths per 100,000 people in England. At this point it just feels like a giant wealth transfer (since the FED printed all that money in the US) and assets could be bought on the cheap.

So can we cancel it all now? No more lines and all that. Everyone can calm down. As far as plagues go, the coronavirus was mostly bark, very little bite. Considering the hygiene of the public at large, if it was as contagious as it has been described, everyone who has been to a supermarket would have caught it by now. But that's not what has happened.

Err no you don't test positive if you have a cold ,what utter crap, the test is specifically for covid19. Perhaps you should stop believing what some random on Facebook says and educate yourself.

lifesalongsong · 28/08/2020 20:02

@Ellsbells12

Best post in a while OP I am done my mental health is suffering with all this and my 6 year will not be wearing a mask it scares him
6 year olds don't have to wear masks if you're in England, no way is the OP the best post in any time frame
@MadameBlobby honestly I'm not trying to offend, colds are caused by more than just the coronavirus. They are also rhinovirus. If someone died from a heart attack, but also had a cold which triggered a positive Coronavirus reaction, it could have been the cold coronavirus we have known for years before 2020. But that individual would have died from the heart attack, in reality. The statistics would say it was the coronavirus.
Either you’ve been reading shit on Facebook, or you’re deliberately spreading misinformatIon. Which is it?

Yes, I understand people may die of other conditions but have Coronavirus too but that doesn’t mean that people with the cold are testing positive for Covid

You are talking absolute crap.

whatswithtodaytoday · 28/08/2020 20:10

Covid-19 is one specific coronavirus. There are others, but they are all distinguishable from each other.

Stop reading bollocks on Facebook and passing it off as truth 🙄

MarshaBradyo · 28/08/2020 20:10

No let’s give schools a chance to open fully first

elmouno · 28/08/2020 20:13

There have definitely been cases of false positives. We need to stop freaking out and assess things ourselves. Like I said, if it was as contagious or deadly as they claimed, everyone would have caught it by now and millions would have died. That hasn't happened. We are being manipulated.

“Different strains of the coronavirus circulate every year, causing the common cold,” he says. “This means blood tests may cross-react and deliver a false positive if a patient has been infected by one of these viruses in the past.”

elmouno, irresponsible crap.

Why are the only options 'lets 'cancel' corona virus' (what does that even mean - cancelling an infectious disease?) or 'lets have lots of completely unreaonable rulz and unfair transfer of monies to make the rich even richer'?

What nonsense.

It's a hugely complex, potentially globally devastating situation that is barely held in check by current measures. Some of which are wrong, by deliberate design or because everybody, even experts, are still learning and feeling their way forward, or by ignorance, some of which are not strict enough IMO.

We are all fed up. I know I am.
But you are either deliberately goading or really worryingly hard of thinking.

rosie39forever · 28/08/2020 20:14

Your link doesn't work OP

Corona virus has been around at least since the 1960, however has recently been getting more virulent.
See SARS and MERS.
Just because nobody you know has died/been ventilated/has longterm sequelae, does not make it a benign condition.

We could of course go full Darwin... Hmm
That is not a world I would chose to live in.

Pacif1cDogwood · 28/08/2020 20:16

How does the current tests not being v good make a case for us all to pretend nothing is happening?!

Seriously. You need to try looking at reputable sources. This is a quack site.

rosie39forever · 28/08/2020 20:21

Health .com is part of the Meredith group who also have interest in Fox News and right wing nut job media.

Thelittleweasel · 28/08/2020 20:24

@elmouno

The infection rate is about twenty per hundred thousand. [20 per 100000] Which does not sound much until you think that there are 50 million plus in the country.

Another horrendous statistic is that on an average day fifteen hundred people die. What I cannot get to grips with is - these days how many more die of covid.

I tell you though that if one single child [or member of staff] dies at school I will try to kidnap DGD to prevent her going back. If it is so necessary for them to go to school why not add on a year at 19?

elmouno · 28/08/2020 20:27

They quoted a doctor, but if a source does not align with your politics, maybe we just have to think carefully on if all the supposed "reputable" sources have been compromised for an agenda?

At this point, it's not about overwhelming the NHS anymore.

Cui bono?

OP posts:
Pacif1cDogwood · 28/08/2020 20:30

V true.
And people will have died and are going to come to harm/die because of lockdown /reduced service levels.
Equally, if measures to reduce/slow the speed of Covid are not kept up, it will very rapidly rise exponentially again.

As it is in many areas of the world. So just sit tight. This bug is with us for the duration.

ItsMsAtomicBobToYou · 28/08/2020 20:38

What absolute nonsense. Stop reading conspiracy theories and following agendas pushed by people with the intelligence of a gnat.

I know people have had it. It's not benign. It's not something we just have to "deal with". Even mild symptoms can be long lasting.

We would love to "cancel" coronavirus. Newsflash: nature doesn't work like that.

AlecTrevelyan006 · 28/08/2020 20:38

@MoggyP

These threads are good at showing up who the utterly heartless posters are.
yeah, usually the ones who don't care about anything other than coronavirus
moretolifethanthis2020 · 28/08/2020 20:42

Totally and utterly agree.

justanotherneighinparadise · 28/08/2020 20:43

How wonderful it must be to live in Sweden currently where they’re all just cracking on with normal life.

GoldenOmber · 28/08/2020 20:44

That hasn't happened. We are being manipulated.

By who, exactly? Who do you think is manipulating us all? The same ‘they’ who are planning to reset the whole global financial system?

It’s a pandemic, it’s shit for most of us, it’ll pass and we’ll get back to normal. Sometimes diseases just come along and do this. It’s happened before, we got past it before, it wasn’t caused by a shadowy global conspiracy any of those times either.

I do not get why people say things like “it’s hardly killing anyone now so why do we need all these measures?” It seems staggeringly obvious that the reason it’s hardly killing anyone now is BECAUSE we’ve taken all these measures. What do you think the explanation is otherwise? Virus has struck a deal? Virus was invented by shapechanging lizards who’ve agreed to call it off now?

GinJeanie · 28/08/2020 20:51

@elmouno Biscuit
Are you 12?

It’s not a lot - 13200 people in a population of 66m? Obviously the risk is of it spreading further.

Also how is 1500 people dying a day a “horrendous statistic”? Did you think people lived forever?
