AIBU to ask how many toilet rolls you currently have in your house?!

After being accused of panic buying and enabling/encouraging panic buying on another thread I’m curious as to what’s the norm.
As toilet roll seems to have sold out everywhere or most places at least - do you have a big stock of them normally?

We currently have 18 left over from one of the big packs of 40 from Costco we bought a while ago - always do our big shopping there so also have wipes and antibac laundry in volume for the same reason!

DS coming home from university has a six-pack of loo rolls he's bringing with him. Result.

I really hope that supermarkets are going to properly enforce rationing of essentials (I think more than four per trolley/shopping basket is too many unless you have a larger than average family). For most families a nine-pack would last a fortnight (which is fine).

TooManyCats88 · 16/03/2020 19:01

Why on earth do you buy toilet rolls 4 at a time in a family of 5, that's mad. Don't you realise the big packs cost less per roll for a start?

thistimeofyear · 16/03/2020 19:02

Jesus what do people do with their toilet roll seriously!! I have 2 rolls to last the next week or so

adaline · 16/03/2020 19:03

I'm glad we have as many as we do! I'm currently in isolation and no shops anywhere near us have any left - my mum is having to buy it and drive it over Grin

HairyTesticles · 16/03/2020 19:20

We have 5 rolls, family of 4, im in isolation, and I have ibs.

thistimeofyear · 16/03/2020 19:22

Because some people have 60 or more probably and say that’s normal - I do wonder how much people use each time they go - so to speak

timetest · 16/03/2020 19:24

20 left from a 24 pack.

Becclescake · 16/03/2020 19:25

I have none. Can't get any anywhere and have had to resort to boxes of tissues.

NemophilistRebel · 16/03/2020 19:26

Becclescake- if you’re anywhere near me (south Hertfordshire) I’d give you a few to keep you ticking over

I have 6 now but that should last a good week until I can hopefully get more

(If I’m allowed out being pregnant which is looking less likely)

Greysparkles · 16/03/2020 19:27

There is lots of toilet roll in small shops near me, not in supermarkets.
I've been in a small Premier today and a nisa and noticed they both had plenty on the shelves.

We are a family of 6 , normally buy one pack of 9 rolls every week, I'm down to my last 5 rolls and beginning to panic as i went to 5 shops today and couldnt find any

firstimemamma · 16/03/2020 20:17

Mrs Hobbs has 1000. Safe to say she is prepared!

It's madness, the virus does not cause diarrhea... Fucking idiots springs to mind as if these pricks didn't panic buy goods there is plenty to go around!

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 16/03/2020 20:18

I’m a prepper, so I tend to pick one up now and again in offer. I should add, that I’m a very bad prepper, because I routinely forgot to check stock and keep a list.

So, around Feb 28th I felt a bit muzzy and disinclined to go to work, so had a day off, not like me. Then I got a slight temperature for a couple of days, strange headache around the back of head, neck shoulders hurting etc, and then a bit of a chesty cough. All gone in about 5 days except for feeling unusually flaked out and tired so only just going back to work, 2 weeks off, unusual for me. No idea what that was...... conversation with doc to just stay home, no one Ive been in touch with seems to have had same. id really like to know if it was the new coronavirus so that i can feel i am possibly immune. Couldn't get screened quite rightly, cos others more in need. Its a bit weird, with all this panic going on, not to know......am i being a bit daft? Don't you think makes sense to have invited people with the possible symptoms to have it confirmed?

Zipperdidoodaa · 16/03/2020 20:28

Can’t believe all the fuss about bloody toilet rolls - there’s always good old soap and water fgs!!

TroysMammy · 16/03/2020 22:07

Why are people not buying loperamide (arseweld)? That would prevent them using up their precious stock of arse wipes Grin

caringcarer · 16/03/2020 22:21
  1. I had 17 then got another pack of 9 as at weekend I will have to avoid social contact and shopping for 12 weeks. i also brought a pack of 9 for a neighbour as she had been grumbling she was running low and coukd not get any, but when i tok them around she had 2 packs of nine her sister had just got for her, so did not want them. I have not found it hard to buy toilet rolls, Dettol disinfectant wipes, kitchen and bathroom cleaner with bleach or tissues or kitchen rolls. I have got plenty of Dove handwash but not anti bacterial. I have not got any hand sanitiser though.
caringcarer · 16/03/2020 22:30

I have 6 cats and they eat 5 tins and some crunchies every day. I went to Aldi and could only buy 4 tins. Dh also bought 4. We usually buy 36 tins every week. If only the cats would eat more crunchies and less tinned meat. I noticed their wers hardly any nappies or baby wipes in Aldi.

lynney88 · 16/03/2020 22:34
  1. I usually buy a 24 pack for the month but couldn't get my normal stuff. This'll do for a few weeks xx
Snorkelface · 16/03/2020 22:37

Caringcarer - I was in Asda, Tesco and Sainsburys today. All of them have tons of cat food - bit low on certain brands of cat litter but the food shelves were full.
