AIBU to ask how many toilet rolls you currently have in your house?!

After being accused of panic buying and enabling/encouraging panic buying on another thread I’m curious as to what’s the norm.
As toilet roll seems to have sold out everywhere or most places at least - do you have a big stock of them normally?

We currently have 18 left over from one of the big packs of 40 from Costco we bought a while ago - always do our big shopping there so also have wipes and antibac laundry in volume for the same reason!

  1. Will last at least a fortnight
thistimelastweek · 13/03/2020 23:18

About 60.
But - and it's a significant but - about 20 of those were left over from the Christmas over estimation.
Wouldn't want you thinking I'm a nutter.

unchienandalusia · 13/03/2020 23:19

Not as many as I have bottles of gin!

Cryalot2 · 13/03/2020 23:19

3 adults with ibs and 1 other adult, we do not have enough. Dd stopped me from buying more earlier
We have 4 packs of 9 divided between 2 toilets.

Crunchymum · 13/03/2020 23:19

Surely this is going to get uber competitive?

"I have 10,000,000: versus "I'm using my hand"

We have 18. 2 from last pack and 16 from pack I bought last week (online shop, were on special)

PickAChew · 13/03/2020 23:19

6 out of the pack I have on the go, the 9 pack of weird peach coloured stuff I had delivered on Tuesday and the 9 pack I found in the little used upstairs bathroom that I'd forgotten about.

Notcontent · 13/03/2020 23:19

I am surprised at just how little toilet paper some people use. Dd and I seem to get through a lot.

On another thread someone was saying they use one sheet for a wee...

blubberyboo · 13/03/2020 23:20

12 rolls plus 2 boxes of tissues and 2 packets of baby wipes.

No hand sanitiser just one bottle of handwash and 4 bars of imperial leather and a spare bottle of fairy liquid

CatFaceCats · 13/03/2020 23:20

18 - I went and bought some last week as I was down to 3. Didn’t remove the 9 pack from the weekly shop. Not due to panicking, just because I didn’t think and for things like loo roll, I know they get used eventually.

Spanglybangles · 13/03/2020 23:20

63 Blush
In fairness, we buy the big 40 packs from Costco and I bought one a few weeks ago, then my parents needed me to pick some stuff up from Costco for them, including loo roll, week before last, so I picked up another for us at the same time as we seem to fairly get through it. Glad I did as I was in there just after it opened today for other stuff and they hadn’t received their loo roll delivery (much to the dismay of the absolutely rammed store of shoppers), so I won’t be looking for any for a good while.

Khione · 13/03/2020 23:21

I usually buy packs of 18 when I am down to about 6 rolls. (+or- 2)
This time I bought a pack of 24 AND I had 8 left.

The only thing I will 'panic' buy is ... wine

FurForksSake · 13/03/2020 23:21

About 39 but that's because we get 48 at a time from who gives a crap. Next shipment is in May and I'd usually postpone it but it may be my kids inheritance.

AhoyMrBeaver · 13/03/2020 23:21

Possibly 12-15. I don't know really, I lose track.

Osirus · 13/03/2020 23:22

Our express stores are fairing better than the larger stores. Could get everything in mine today apart from hand sanitiser. Could even get Dettol spray, and toilet roll. I bought two packs of 4 just to keep my stock up.

I’ve got 38 rolls currently. Family of 3. Way more than we usually have and have been picking up one or two packs here and there for the fear of supply issues with everyone panic buying. I don’t buy stacks at any one time of anything, one or two packs just to increase our stockpile in an unselfish kind of way.

Waspnest · 13/03/2020 23:22

I always have about 18 and thought I was being a bit of a prepper because we live in a rural area and I worry about being stranded due to the weather. Then I found out on here that a 24 roll pack is pretty standard and I feel like a complete amateur.

BorisTheBellend · 13/03/2020 23:22

12 at the minute but will buy more when I see them in the local shops which are a better bet than the supermarkets.

Family of 5, 1 with IBS and 1 with IBD so definitely need a little more than average at all times but feeling like a twat buying more than 1 pack at a time as people are judging while filling their trollies with their own panic buys and shops giving off about people panic buying.

Marmite27 · 13/03/2020 23:23

Probably about 40.

NemophilistRebel · 13/03/2020 23:23

4 rolls and I have ordered 4 more on my next weeks shop

Lozz22 · 13/03/2020 23:24

9 and that's only because the local co op only had packs of 9 in. Don't need to worry about buying anymore for a good while now, I live by myself anyway so unless I get a bad case of dysentery or my metformin decides to wreck havoc on my tummy I should be ok for the time being. AF should be due next week though so that will probably mean one extra roll used to normal. Hopefully sanitary towels aren't on the panic buy list cos I somehow doubt the few I have left will last me half a morning. Could always improvise I suppose!

LaPampa · 13/03/2020 23:24

We get 40 at a time in a subscription every 4/5 months from who gives a crap. So maybe 20 left as next delivery due end April.

GoatyGoatyMingeMinge · 13/03/2020 23:25

We've got around 40 after some panic buying earlier this week. I may monitor the price on eBay and consider releasing some to the market Grin

pallisers · 13/03/2020 23:25

Probably around 40 or 50 possibly more (we have 5 bathrooms - generally only use 3 - family, en suite, downstairs loo - but I stock them all). Not because of this crisis but because I am funny about loo roll and want it to be really stocked up. Family of 5 where 3 were away in university but are now back with us.

Loo roll in a crisis would be my last worry .... there are alternatives

Sunnytimesahead · 13/03/2020 23:25

I always have plenty of loo rolls in as the norm. But around the Brexit fiasco and uncertainty about a no deal I started buying more. Now I have really jumped on the bandwagon and have been buying 2 multipacks each time instead of 1. We now have 17 x multipacks in our spare room (ranging from 9 rolls per pack up to 16).
As I explained this has not all been bought in the past couple of weeks but over several months.
Do I have enough do you think?

halcyondays · 13/03/2020 23:25

About 20, bought over a few shops. There were plenty of them when we got them.

grannyshark · 13/03/2020 23:26

We use Who gives a crap too. I'm impressed with the way they have reserved their stocks for regular customers.
