Trump throwing a lot of people under the bus because of stock markets?

When you start a war you finish it in my opinion. There has been no other war that has been stopped because of a slide on the Dow Jones or an oil price spike. For Trump to now prematurely call an end to the war simply because of economics will simply mean IIrans drone terrorism has worked.

The people of Iran will be left with a job half done without the space needed for an uprising.

A new leader with good reason to ideological hate Israel and the US will realise the only method of future deterrence of Iran is through acquiring a nuclear weapon as their conventional weapons were obliterated. Iran will now do everything possible to acquire such a weapon.

This is a time for resolve Mr. President. There is still a chance to destroy this regime maybe with limited target ground troop assaults. The world actually will be safer if you continue.

Saw a headline this morning that said his son Barron had invested $50 million in oil stocks (I think, wasn't really looking at the details) the day before this 'war' started. Funny that. What a shower of absolute scumbags this family is.

It's a rumour and hasn't been substantiated.

Smeuse · 10/03/2026 15:21

Twiglets1 · 10/03/2026 14:59

What's stopping him from ending it if it's all in his hands?

Oil

The US is already talking about lifting sanctions on Russia

BerthaPotts · 10/03/2026 15:23

I feel terribly sorry for the Iranians. The US and Israel rained down bombs on them and killed Ayatollah just for him to be replaced with his son. It will set their economy back by a significant period of time and the Iranians will continue to suffer more than they did in most aspects than before the war.

CharlotteRumpling · 10/03/2026 15:24

56 yr old son- so could live 40 years- who has now gone into a bunker so hard to kill.

BerthaPotts · 10/03/2026 15:25

The ordinary Iranians who hoped that the short term pain they are enduring would reap long term gains, will have lost the most.

BerthaPotts · 10/03/2026 15:27

All it has done is wrecked havoc in the middle east.

BerthaPotts · 10/03/2026 15:28

I think max another week or so and then Trump will move on to Cuba.

It’s certainly in Putin’s interest for the US-Iran to continue as long as possible - free to sell oil to Europe, free to sells arms and intelligence to Iran. US run down their stocks of missiles. Make some money and use it to bolster the attacks on Ukraine.

No I wasn't talking about Hamas.

I was talking about Palestinians who cheered on Hamas.

I don't assume all Palestinians in Gaza support Hamas though some do. But you seem to blame all Israelis for the actions of their government/IDF because you said "we see the Israelis for what they are".

I see those who support Hamas for who they are.

Yes I responded to that
“My post
TomeTome · Today 12:40
** I’m sorry I see you are asking what I think about people who cheer on the murder and rape of others? I feel the same as I do about those cheering on the bombing of others or who fawn and pander to those who commit these crimes be they presidents, royalty, soldiers, civilians or MNetters. It’s disgusting. We are human beings and we DO know right from wrong. Every life deserves safety and dignity and rape and murder are never ok.”

(edited for typo)

Twiglets1 · 10/03/2026 16:00

You responded to some of it but not the part about you saying you see "Israelis" for who they are.

Seems a bit harsh to those who are not supportive of their government (which is quite a few) ... I don't blame all Palestinians for Hamas, only the ones that support them.

Still, the conversation has moved on to Putin now.

I think the economic turmoil should have been planned in and the nature of warfare I is that you fight to win. The second world war want stopped because people were worried about financial implications.....If you believe there is a threat and enemy needs defeating you do it.You don't stop half way.

Of course it’s been planned in. You think Trump is saving the Iranian people out the goodness of his heart 😂

No, they love instability. They did it with crypto. Cryptos in winter now. So it’s summer time stock pump and dump. Except unfortunately you need to be a bit more drastic to make that move.

REP22 · 10/03/2026 16:19

"We have completed our very successful attack on the three nuclear sites in Iran, including Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan. All planes are now outside of Iran air space. A full payload of BOMBS was dropped on the primary site, Fordow. All planes are safely on their way home. Congratulations to our great American Warriors. There is not another military in the World that could have done this. NOW IS THE TIME FOR PEACE! Thank you for your attention to this matter." and "Iran's key nuclear enrichment facilities have been completely and totally obliterated".

Said by Trump. June 2025 after the "bunker bomb" raids - "Operation Midnight Hammer". 22 June 2025.

I despise him. Him, Vance, Rubio, Hegseth, his propaganda Barbies and all the nodding lickspittles who cheer his every ignorant utterance.

BerthaPotts · 10/03/2026 16:23

Is Trump still denying that the US killed all those school children in Iran? I don't know why he just won't put his hands up and say yes it was us even if it was mistakenly.

Ihatetomatoes · 10/03/2026 16:25

LizzieSiddal · 10/03/2026 07:42

Well many people including myself think he’s only started this war to take away the heat from his thousands of mentions in the Epstein files.
Can you let us know an example in recent history, of when the West has started a war against any regime that has “ended” in a positive way?

Epstein files will still be around after this war ends.

Thezwespons capacity of Iran is diminishing each day. One of the aims of the war. There are others, it appears multifactoral.

Apparently this is a false rumour ( but sadly believable given what we know about Fred And Donald Trump’s venality)

Trump's other sons however have invested in a military drone group that does business with the Pentagon.

Their business empire has rapidly expanded since their father became president

It's in the FT

Of course it has.

Everyone is so blind to the very obvious fact that wars are only started to make money for weapons manufacturers and arms dealers. No other reason whatsoever.

EmeraldShamrock000 · 11/03/2026 08:58

Trump didn’t consider the consequences of starting a war with a country who has the will and resources to fight back.
The people on the ground suffer from increased prices in an already cost of living crisis, they shout the loudest, they hold the power to vote. He is all over the place hopping from one crazy plan to another, dressed up as seeking peace for the citizens of Iran.

It’s very sad and also the suffering of the protestors and those brutalised by the IRGC.
