Trump throwing a lot of people under the bus because of stock markets?

When you start a war you finish it in my opinion. There has been no other war that has been stopped because of a slide on the Dow Jones or an oil price spike. For Trump to now prematurely call an end to the war simply because of economics will simply mean IIrans drone terrorism has worked.

The people of Iran will be left with a job half done without the space needed for an uprising.

A new leader with good reason to ideological hate Israel and the US will realise the only method of future deterrence of Iran is through acquiring a nuclear weapon as their conventional weapons were obliterated. Iran will now do everything possible to acquire such a weapon.

This is a time for resolve Mr. President. There is still a chance to destroy this regime maybe with limited target ground troop assaults. The world actually will be safer if you continue.

Really 🙄

When you post an extract without a link, is it really that bad to ask for the source?

And the thank you comment is very Trump like

Really. I’ve noticed people can’t google for themselves and then say nothing when it proves what the pp said, I said thanks as the pp took the time and I didn’t even request it.

@DaffodilsandDilliesis right

As for Trump stuff he sure isn’t thanking people for getting him info so you know it’s probably your posts.

DaffodilsandDillies · 31/03/2026 21:20

@EasternStandard so you think it maybe a deflection tactic ?
I hadnt thought of that

I can assure you that when I asked for the link to the quoted information , it was not a deflection.

Seeing the whole article and source will aid the discussion.

The subsequent posts on this matter are far more of a deflection.

The President of the United States

Trump throwing a lot of people under the bus because of stock markets?
MushMonster · 31/03/2026 21:39

Now I get why the Iranians are sending presents to Trump.
Trump gives them full control of Hormuz. He gets a little present!
(Not that we can believe a word that Trump said about any present)

DaffodilsandDillies · 01/04/2026 06:54

Yes but it's true actually that when people ask for links and get them ..they ignore them

The President of the United States

Unhinged....

...Which the rest of the world will pay for.

Iran will be in no hurry to open Hormuz.... all for nothing, Iran still has its Uranium.

If that is aimed at me, I have read the links but after you and your friends didn't like me asking for links or not saying thank you, the thread got derailed and the discussion moved off topic.

We will never know if the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) would have worked.

The JCPOA did work.

Trump tore it up.

Smeuse · 01/04/2026 09:24

Indeed

The linked articles were all from after Trump tore it up.

Yes, I noticed that.
Escalation occurred subsequent to Trump unilaterally tearing it up and increasing sanctions.

Smeuse · 01/04/2026 09:52

https://www.ucl.ac.uk/news/2025/jun/comment-trumps-first-term-lies-heart-escalation-between-iran-and-israel

"When Trump took office in 2017, the JCPOA had already eliminated 98% of Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile. It also capped enrichment at 3.7%, well below the level required for a nuclear bomb"

Three reasons behind Trump ditching Iran deal

Trump is a disaster.

BelleHathor · 01/04/2026 10:09

The most important reason was money, Trump’s main donors paid donated millions for his (and other) Republicans campaigns in the 2016 cycle. These donor's would expect a concrete return for their investment.

Sheldon Adelson and others specifically lobbied to end the JCPOA. Unfortunately it's money that determines actions, not what's in Americans (or the rest of the World's) best interests.

The EU also imposed stricter sanctions in 2019. Iran held up their end of the JCPOA but the other parties didn't and somehow it's Iran's fault.

I saw Jeffrey Sachs speaking at the UN and he pointed out that all but three countries condemned Iran for retaliating after they were bombed (in the middle of negotiations) by Israel and the US. It's like something from the pages of 1984.

Tbf the people in Iran have been in 1984 territory for 47 years. Complete with torture if they don’t comply.

Israel and the US are not bombing Iran because they give a single shiny shit about Iranian people and I don't believe people are that gulliblle. I do believe it's convenient for some people to use fake concern for the Iranian population to make their cheerleading for death and destruction seem righteous.

Whether people post this in response or not it doesn’t change what they’ve faced, which really is 1984 style authoritarian brutality.

And they will continue to face it after Trump ends his war (again)

And before you ask, I don't know how the regime can be changed but it is not by bombing.

But what about Iranians in the UK supporting the attack on and removal of the Iranian regime - do they not care about ordinary Iranians too?

Twiglets1 · 01/04/2026 10:41

It's weird how you only see "fake concern" where people don't agree with what you care about @FOJN
