Conflict in the Middle East

Thoughts to the Jewish community in the UK

There is a massive rise in anti semitism in the UK and other countries. Jewish people here have nothing to do with the conflict in Gaza, nothing at all.

The rise in anti semitism is disgusting.

Sending thoughts to the victims, their family and friends. No one should feel terrorised in the UK. People should feel safe here.

I don't think so unfortunately

I live in a huge community of Jewish expats abroad. Most of them Israeli. I don’t even know where to begin with making it clear I support them and that I am ashamed that this has happened in Britain and ashamed at the British response, with people still marching and pretending the man was a mentally ill lone actor ffs so they can keep deluding themselves that their rabid pro-Palestinian useful idiocy wasn’t a contributor. You emboldened this, marchers and Palestine flag wavers and morons who spread hate about Israel for the last 2 years… or decade… or longer. You don’t get to just step back and wring your hands and say ‘well I support palestine but am so sad for what happened in manchester’. The positions are mutually exclusive.

If you support Jews and condemn antisemitism, stop waving flags and spreading antisemitism thinly disguised as political opinion online and marching against the existence of the only Jewish nation in the world. It’s that simple.

Well said

mids2019 · 03/10/2025 06:27

The police kindly requested pro Palestine marches cause for a short period after this terrorist attack that has shook to the core Manchester and the Jewsish community in particular. They refused. There would have been members within these crowds calling for globalizing the intifada and calling for 'action '. Do these people not have a conscience?

The fear is the attacks against Jews are only going to get worse and as a UK citizen I believe we would should stamp down on hate hard to not have a permissive environment where Jew hate has become a norm.

A lot of eight minded people are angry about this and want change with a government willing to call anti semitism out rather than give terrorists a state.

Double bells on
British Jews - the ground is burning under your feet .
Dont leave it too late to run

When the marchers chanted 'globalised the intifada ' THIS is what it means. Stupid people cheered this sort of disgusting attack on.

Stop singing stupid don't, chanting hateful songs, intimidating Jewish people in the UK you really aren't helping anyone. There is a peace deal on the table let it work its way through. Just hamas to agree now

A question for anti-Netanyahu posters on here:

What would the correct response to October 7th and the taking of 00's of hostages along with numerous dead bodies have been?

can I ask a question?

If what he is doing is the correct response, why does he block international media from going there and reporting on it?

PollyPaintsFlowers · 03/10/2025 06:51

There's been a lot of talk, not just yesterday, about how the hate marchers don't speak for most people and that they're against the rising antisemitism but now we need action. We need to tell our MPs, radio stations etc

For two years Pro-Palestinians have been lobbying MPs and companies, trying to isolate Jews, calling for armed resistance on their hate marches and saying Jews need to be made to feel.as uncomfortable as possible. And now it's ended in murder

I'm reminded of a banner I saw saying Jews can't fight antisemitism alone. They're such a small vulnerable community. We need to step up now

Because in the past foreign journalists have been kidnapped and murdered. And you just know that if it happened again Hamas would turn it to their advantage and blame Israel

stomachamelon · 03/10/2025 06:53

@PurpleThistle7that ‘take’ is the problem though isn’t it? There is no understanding of how Hamas work. How, to live in Israel anyway, is to be aware of constant terror attacks.

They dragged babies into Gaza and murdered them. The response would have been exactly the same from any other country if not worse.

Sorry, but I don’t agree with you.

People are absolutely allowed to call out the horrendous actions of a political leader who has caused mass genocide - he does not get a free pass because he is from “the only Jewish” nation in the world. That’s not how human rights work.

One absolutely has the right to hold that opinion and equally completely condemn the act of terrorism by Islamist extremists who hold antisemetic opinions. And also to want Hamas to stop their actions.

stomachamelon · 03/10/2025 06:57

@FattyMcFattyArseoh I see. So because people like you conflate all Jews with Israel that’s ok then. It’s Israel’s fault it happened?

No wonder people feel scared. And yes you are the problem with your simplistic thinking. How often have you been out to protest about Hamas? I hope directly after Oct 7th? With your anti war, anti genocide stance?

I have never seen an answer to this

mids2019 · 03/10/2025 07:01

One thing that should happen after this tragedy is that UEFA kick out the anti semitic calls for Isarel to kicked out of international football. That would be a start and something maybe our PM could say. By attacking Israeli and Jewish outreach and symbolism we are complicit in engendering a culture of Jews don't count. It's a slippery slope when you start saying your sportsmen and artists don't count to your lives don't count.

Israel's Netanyahu and his cabinet have done a brilliant job of creating fear, horror and bad feeling against Jews across the diaspora by their actions against the Palestinian people.

If there are people in the world who wish Jews harm (and I don't condone that) then blame Israel's government.

Everyone should be able to live in peace and safety. Jewish and Palestinian. Wherever they reside.

No
It it is racists who are responsible for their 'fear, horror and had feeling towards Jews' in the diaspora. Holding Jews responsible for Netayshu is blatantly and unequivocally racist. And it is racists and their enablers who have made the Jews in the diaspora feel fear that has turned to horror.
Please, everyone do something. Reflect on your own behaviour and do something tangible. Like donate to the CST who protect the Jewish community day in day out.

Do we blame the UK government for all the terror attacks here?

Disagree. Israel should be boycotted until this genocide is stopped. Economically and culturally. It’s a rogue nation as long as NB government is at the helm. That does not make me an anti semite and the attack on the synagogue and any attacks on Jewish people is abhorrent and confused.

mids2019 · 03/10/2025 07:15

Surely cancelling international football is a cultural attack on Israel and by extension Jews? Football is a unifying force in the world and rejecting Israel just propagagtes the idea Israelis don't count. We also are effectively rewarding terrorism by.decisions that aid the Hamas cause.

stomachamelon · 03/10/2025 07:18

@itsraining2024if he was mentally ill does that excuse the footage I have just seen of people dancing and cheering in London last night? Or are they all mentally ill too? (Happy to post)

stomachamelon · 03/10/2025 07:20

@Sonjaaajust because you keep using the word ‘genocide’ a genocide it doesn’t make. And I don’t think anyone should do anything both this close to a deal and without actual proof.

Anyway back to the British Jewish community….

Puppalicious · 03/10/2025 07:21

FattyMcFattyArse · 02/10/2025 22:38

I agree with your points, but what I'm saying is that Netanyahu has whipped up hatred or at least resentment over the past 2 years. I think he has done Jewish people around the world a huge disservice by putting them in danger through his actions. People will want to retaliate. They shouldn't do so of course, but Israel has fostered bad feeling through its persecution of the Gazans and destruction of their homes and families.

If my government committed atrocities against a country or a people, then I would feel afraid of repercussions against me from those affected because of my nationality or affiliation. It's wrong that it happens, but it seems causative to me.

I’m presuming you’re neither British or Christian? Or if you are, then I presume it would just be causative if you were murdered in a terrorist attack?

It’s sanctions against a murderous state. Surely you have heard of boycott and sanctions against countries before? An International boycott of Israel is long overdue. Don’t confuse that with anti semitism and Hamas support please.

Are you also against boycott of Russia?

See now you are equating Jewish people to Israeli people!
It would not be an attack on Jewish people - it would be a way of denouncing a political leader who is committing genocide. Similar to Russia when their actions on Ukraine were called into question on an international scale.
