Ahh I see, so we can quote a well known islamophobe who compares all Muslims to Nazis because of their 'experience. On a thread about the rise in anti-muslim hate. The irony is clearly lost on some.

You missed out 'Israeli spy' who was on Israel's payroll in your description.

@quantumbutterfly is it the same dude who said this that you are referring to? To make a point.

"Yousef has compared Islam to Nazism, and said he has "zero respect for anyone who identifies as Muslim"."

This is a man who considers my child's life to be worth less than a fraction of the life of an animal.

And who thinks that's an ok thing to say out loud. Because people agree with him.

Islamophobia is the widely used 'official' term for anti-Muslim hate. At this point in its use in discussions, people have surely heard this definition of terminology enough to comprehend that it does not refer to a phobia but to hatred and prejudice.

Then we need another word for the fear because that's the flex point that allows exploitation. Currently the word used is bigot and racist and that tends to separate the sides further by losing people who are more fearful than hateful.

No, not really. I watched him recently alongside one of the released hostages and a white American student, it was fascinating.

Does he? What did he say?
He did get quite angry with the white American boy and his rhetoric was unguarded to say the least but perhaps circumstantial. Is he not Muslim anymore.

We aren't really talking about people who are a bit worried about extremism in any capacity or who have a mental illness in the form of a phobic anxiety disorder, but about physical, verbal and sexual abuse, exclusion and discrimination against a minority group on the basis of a protected characteristic. I doubt the people attacking innocent UK citizens for the 'crime' of 'looking Muslim' are struggling with crippling phobias of the very people they're seeking out to target. The explanations of the term have been made for years so nobody at this point should genuinely fail to understand what is being discussed.

Among other comments, one of his more famous ones was: "If I have to choose between 1.6 billion Muslims and a cow, I will choose the cow.” He compares Muslims to vermin and calls for violence against us.

What is in his heart is between him and God. At least outwardly, he passionately rejects Islam and speaks of how he converted to Christianity almost 2 decades ago.

I always imagined that the young British men and women that did terrible things in the name of jihad were vulnerable and suggestible and I would give the benefit of that doubt to those who are 'islamophobic' too. Sometimes these vulnerabilities will come under the mental health umbrella.

Some people are conditioned by environment, the adults in their life are the ones that need to be reached, though some may be too ideologically entrenched.

I wonder what made him reject Islam so forcefully.

Probably had a lot to do with the horrendous trauma and abuse he experienced at the hands of Hamas. His father was a high-ranking member of the organisation, groomed him and forced him to witness things no child, adolescent or young man should have to see.

Do you know his father's history?

His hate is for his father and everything he represents which is understandable but his comments about Muslims cannot go unchecked, and his hate will eat him up. Hope he is getting the right support to deal with his childhood traumas and pain.

The future for ALL of us is bleak and dystopian under Labour.

Because it was such a sunny Utopia under tories....EYE ROLL

Some people are trying so hard to shoehorn Labour bashing into every thread I start to think they are paid troll bots. Get over yourself. (Or find a better job).

Its very bleak under Labour, and set to worsen.

Regarding HassanYousef, he is a deeply troubled man. What does Isreal do to imprisoned Palestinians? How does it get them to spy for them? imagine there is a big ethical minefield there.

He claims to have been shocked at what hamas prisoners did to each other, some real horror stories.

headstone · 21/11/2024 15:24

Yes quantumbutterfly that must be it, and all those men that were stripped naked and filmed being taken away in Gaza, I imagine they were just being told by the nice Israeli guards how awful Palestinian are.

Being gay would certainly be a death sentence for them.
