Video showing Palestinian man strapped to front of jeep

Israeli army strapped wounded Palestinian to jeep

The Israeli military says the man was a suspect in a raid in the West Bank, but its forces violated protocol.

It's a cartoon. You accused me of thinking cartoons are precise historical evidence but you seem to be the one who's making that mistake, not me.

No I questioned your intentions in posting an inflammatory and frankly anti-Semitic (to me) cartoon.

ConnieCounter · 23/06/2024 12:39

The cartoon is anti semitic but defending an injured Palestinian man being tied to a truck is not Islamaphobic. Got it.

But @ConnieCounter I was focusing on your cartoon.

In the fullness of time, we will learn what will be happening to soldiers found to be violating a code of conduct.

Violating a code of conduct is not necessarily Islamophobia as we do not have enough context or information yet. It is about intention.

Do you know for a fact that this Palestinian was a Muslim? Can you read the soldiers' minds?

They could have just left and allowed the family to get medical assistance. I agree that that would have been better than abducting him and using him as a human shield.

Then again, if they had left him, there would be pictures posted on here of him laying aboundoned on the ground with a retreating idf vehicle. Can't win either way.

EasterIssland · 23/06/2024 13:13

I’m going to leave this one for anyone justifying it

from idf:
The conduct of the forces in the video of the incident does not conform to the values of the IDF. The incident will be investigated and dealt with accordingly

im not sure why are many of you justifying something that IDF is not happy with.

All of a sudden, the IDF have credibility? They are normally being held to scrutiny every 5 minutes. Make your mind up..

They’ve 0 credibility for me. The fact they’re not happy with something they’ve committed and many posters are justifying makes me feel IDF can do whatever that some posters will always justify it

Liv999 · 23/06/2024 13:54

Terrorism at its best once again from Israel

Nobody is justifying anything - they are addressing a snapshot of an image, designed to provoke outrage.

1dayatatime · 23/06/2024 13:59

@ConnieCounter

"If the army raided a house in England and strapped an injured man onto a vehicle rather than getting him appropriate medical attention there would be rightful universal outrage."

Hmm a very selective interpretation.

Indeed you would be correct if they "strapped him onto a vehicle rather than getting him appropriate medical attention " except they strapped him onto a vehicle and took him to get appropriate medical attention.

Image? It’s a video. Idf is not happy with how idf dealt with it. Apologies if some people aren’t happy with it either

Why not allow the ambulances that are deal with it

TooBigForMyBoots · 23/06/2024 14:07

This is disgusting behaviour from the IDF. I worry for their families and communities as well as Palestinians.Sad

There could be all sorts of security/operational reasons for that. BTW, a snapshot can also include video footage. A snapshot being something that's left open to interpretation.

You think it would be acceptable in England to strap an injured man to a vehicle rather than putting them in an ambulance? Or indeed putting them into the jeep? Really?

Again:

The conduct of the forces in the video of the incident does not conform to the values of the IDF.

it doesn’t seem to be what they tend to do and what aligns with their values. Please stop justifying something that not even IDF is justifying

This didn't happen in England, though did it? You're not comparing like for like.

IDF have done the right thing in releasing that statement. They are used to constantly having their tactics questioned.

Scirocco · 23/06/2024 14:35

Maybe we could increase ambulance capacity in the UK by doing similar - strap a couple of extra folk onto the bonnet and off we go.

I suspect PALS might get a few complaints.

I wouldn't strap a dog to the outside of a vehicle, regardless of destination. It's disgusting.

Surely it's wrong regardless of the nationality of the person being used as a human shield?

Nice try. It's not the nationality, I'm drawing reference to. However, if you think the infrastructure of the ME compares to the UK, fill your boots.

So what makes it OK then? The fact that the IDF did it?
