To say the London Palestinian marches should be stopped

They are weekly marches found to be organised by organisations with links to Hamas, and at least one ex Hamas member.

They are supporting a terrorist organisation that has just committed the deadliest day in Israel’s history. An Iranian dissident was arrested for holding a sign saying Hamas is Terrorist, despite the fact that they are a UK-designated terrorist organisation - because protestors assaulted him on seeing the sign.

If they were calling for peace and fewer casualties they would be condemning Hamas and calling for them to surrender.

AIBU to think this is deeply disturbing and has no place on the streets of London. Note - terrorist support is illegal and not protected speech.

the inability of a Jewish man to cross the road
Is this the man who just happened, innocently, on a march with a camera crew and a body guard in tow? The man who wanted to go against the flow of the march? The man who obviously didn't have an agenda?
You will find agent provocateurs on both sides. It isn't black and white.
Marches are happening all over the world, including Israel. The world is waking up to the fact the Israeli government is behaving like a terrorist state, backed by the USA, the UK and Europe.

Oh not this again. Yes he set it up and has an agenda as do all the marchers but it was the copper who made the grossly offensive remark which the MET apologised for. It's clear it is policing by fear.

Anti - Semitic marches are taking places all over the world as many many people are anti-Semitic and they are a useful cover for those minority of the marchers to openly proclaim their hatred of the Jewish state.

The only terrorist state in the region is the Hamas administration.

The only terrorist state in the region is the Hamas administration.

Or that Netanyahu's government hasn't previously been held to account by so many people who are protesting against a potential genocide?

PeasfullPerson · 06/05/2024 10:42

Shutting down the marches and alienating people who care about human rights, is not the answer to curtailing the rise in antisemitism.

EasterIssland · 08/05/2024 21:24

Good for them

So the police don't have enough manpower to police the protests anymore?

eomeoni · 09/05/2024 01:30

The next march is on the 18th starting at 12 noon starting from BBC Portland Place.

I hope many people turn out in solidarity to the people of Gaza. The people need our support as the offensive in Rafah has started.

👏👏👏

This is an extremely worthy cause and everyone has a right to demonstrate for peace and for our Government to stop supporting the Israeli Government.

Thank you, we must keep making our voices heard.

Here's a peaceful march for Sudan for those who say we don't care about them.

This is from todays Haaretz news feed:

"Never in the proud 76 years of Israel's sovereign existence has there been a sadder, more somber, depressing and acrimonious Independence Day than this year … But above and beyond pondering October 7, there is a growing realization that 'unity,' 'one destiny' and 'we have no choice and no other country' have become meaningless and hollow clichés. Instead, more and more Israelis on both sides of the divide see their country as essentially split into two distinct entities: Judea and Israel" - Alon Pinkas

Please would anyone who knows about Judea and Israel explain the point being made?

Would assume they are referencing the time historically at some point after king shlomo ruled, when there was infighting and the kingdom split into two kingdoms, Yehuda (aka Judea, source of why Jews are called Jews or Yehuda) and Yisrael (Israel). One in the north and one in the south.this was pre destruction of the first temple, and pre first (Babylonian) exile. I’m not 100% sure but I think the whole country was a much bigger area back then. The two separate kingdoms reunited post exile.

I haven’t read the article but I think the fierce debate over the government that’s been going on so long is being referenced?

Well no-one would know as they look like Palestinian flags to me !

No, that's the flag of Sudan.

No, that's the flag of Sudan.

Well some people could be forgiven for not knowing that, especially as the flags are so similar.

It's a bit confusing.

The flags of Martinique, Kuwait and Vanatu are also similar.

( just for interest, the flag of Hungary is the same as the flag of Italy just rotated through 90 degrees.)

Sorry, I've just noticed you've included Kuwait.

EasterIssland · 14/05/2024 08:43

I can’t believe what am I reading to be honest

poster 1. Why doesn’t anyone protest about Sudan
poster 2. There has been a protest about sudan
poster 3. Nobody would know as the flags are quite similar

people can’t win! Don’t think the similarity of the flags is anyone’s fault really.

No-one said it was anyone's fault.

It was a statement of fact.

Although it could be argued that by choosing a national Flag very similar to another country is just asking for confusion.

Which flag would you want them to use ?
maybe the people should read as well before making assumptions? I can read “free Sudan” in that picture

Can you also see the Palestinian flag? It's right there.

It's quite common to have one or two flags of different groups/movements at events. It doesn't change that the clearly signed protest for Sudan is primarily using Sudan's flag.

FGS look at the flags of the world there are many many flags similar. Look at Ireland and Ivory coast they are practically the same. What a strange thing to get annoyed about

Yes but for the other poster to mock someone for thinking it was the Palestinian flag when the Palestinian flag is right there is a bit much, no?
