Israeli Eurovision: how low can you go?

1000 replies

Redebs · 04/03/2024 09:21

Israeli entry in Eurovision song contest is likely to be a song called 'October Rain' sung by trans-identifying 'Eden 'Golan'.

My previous thread was deleted for pointing this out.

Well for starters, the whole population of India - 1.417 billion are staunchly Pro-Israel.

https://www.newarab.com/analysis/why-india-leading-pro-israel-disinformation-campaign

The whole ? Even the Muslims ?

Parkingt111 · 09/05/2024 20:51

@keenforhelp have you even read the article or just looked at the title?

Thanks for explaining politely @Februaryfeels I have no idea how it works

Sorry if I offended @stormy4319trevor my post wasn't directed at you but at PP who were talking about it earlier, I just happened to rejoin the thread at the point you were asking.

Every word. Have you?

Here are a few out takes:
"These pro-Israel advocates also make their presence felt on the streets of India, where rallies are organised in support of Israel, expressing unwavering support even in the face of controversial events such as the Al Ahli Hospital bombing, the deadliest attack of this war, which killed over 470 Palestinian"

"India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi was one of the first leaders to express support for Israel on 7 October, stating, "Our thoughts and prayers are with the innocent victims and their families. We stand in solidarity with Israel at this difficult hour"."

Clearly the small Muslim population (15 %) in India feel helpless in the wake of such unwavering solidarity.

And staunch support for Israel in the UK by many Hindus.

India see it like it is.

Another clear, explicit and unabashed example of victim blaming.

For my part - Go Eden! Do your country proud . They are already proud of how you are standing strong in the face of the vile threats and protests about you and your country's participation. Fortunately these people are in the vast minority and the majority can see the situation as it is.

Stand tall and shine bright Ms Golan.🤗

Another clear, explicit and unabashed example of victim blaming.

Whose the victim here? Israel?

They are currently involved in a bloody conflict, they've killed over 40,000 innocent civilians. 14,000 children. It is completely inappropriate to be competing in the Eurovision they should not be there. They are sticking their two fingers up at all those they are persecuting in Gaza

EasterIssland · 09/05/2024 20:48

Ooops - yes possibly not all of the comparatively small (15%) Muslim population.

That still leaves 1190000000 ish.

Let's be clear Dulra - the victim here is Eden Golan! She is an entirely innocent singer suffering death threats!

Any other conclusion is bizarre.

stormy4319trevor · 09/05/2024 21:02

No offence taken @25milesfromhome I think I'm too ignorant of this event to say much useful, anyway, as it goes.

Parkingt111 · 09/05/2024 21:03

@keenforhelp if you read the full article then you would realise why it isn't very helpful to share, as it's not exactly very positive about Israel.

Id like to know how many of the 85% remaining really supports Israel (without being paid to do so and to spread misinformation as per your link). Probably not the 85% as you claim

And if I'm honest I really don't know much about eurovision, nor the politics surrounding it except for what people on the thread have mentioned. I only commented as I saw you shared an article which largely focused on the abuse of Muslims as a minority in India. And one that wasn't very positive about those who support Israel in India either (which was my confusion on why you shared it, surely you can find some more positive ones) just to make a point.

Strange that you would ask that question. Is it a given that no Muslims would support Israel?

I thought this wasn’t supposed to be a religious war?

And Israel should not be there and should not have put their act in that position. She is representing Israel they are not protesting because she's Eden Golan.

It is not dissimilar to all the protests that took place before the world cup in Quatar.

Scirocco · 09/05/2024 21:13

This is irrelevant. India isn't taking part in Eurovision. Start a new thread about it if it's important to you.

For clarity - the people who are protesting against Israel both in this context and in the conflict are in the minority. They are just shouting louder.

You keep telling yourself that 😂

Humdingerydoo · 09/05/2024 21:26

Having never heard the song before, I didn't realise how insanely talented she is!

Really. The BJP hate Muslims and so it’s a given they’ll support Israel as they are Islamophobes, certainly not out of the goodness of their hearts. Considering Muslims and Jews belong to the Abrahamic faith this is just bizarre when Hindu’s worship idols which is forbidden in Christianity, Islam and Judaism.

Oh I see, you were talking about India, not England or Europe, which I had assumed as this thread is about Eurovision.

And really interesting to hear that you believe the entire population of India supports Israel, every single person.

What about the rest of the world?

US increasingly alone in Israel support as 153 countries vote for ceasefire at UN

Vote highlights a stiffening consensus for a ceasefire in the war, which has killed more than 18,000 Palestinians

What now? Really no idea what you're trying to say here.

She performed well. She has a great voice. I'm not sure what else to tell you.
