Netanyahu has confirmed that Gaza will be occupied by Israel when the bombing stops, with no role for the UN.

Now tell me how this isn't ethnic cleansing ?

I suppose the facts are that sadly the withdrawal in 2005 didn’t work so for Israeli security they have to go in again and occupy. It’s occupation but I don’t see how that is ethnic cleansing. Garzans will be better off under Israeli occupation than hamas occupation. They will get more aid and aid money under Israel and building materials will be used for public buildings and homes instead of terrorism.

beachcitygirl · 11/11/2023 19:46

There won't be any Gazans left if there isn't a ceasefire.

So Gaza will essentially become what South Tel Aviv ?

They have been under illegal military occupation by the Israelis since 2005? Why would Israel suddenly help them when they have spent decades purposefully oppressing them?

Reallifelurker · 11/11/2023 19:52

To be fair Israel will probably have to occupy Gaza to ensure Hamas don’t return. How they treat the Palestinians if this happens remains to be seen.

With regards to ethnic cleansing the Palestinians are still in Gaza.
Israel may or may not have hoped that they would be allowed to flee into Egypt, and probably wouldn’t have let them return either way, but that hasn’t happened so it’s a moot point.

EasternStandard · 11/11/2023 19:56

I have thought about the safety of UN representatives if Hamas are still present

I’m not sure how you’d feel ok knowing what they are capable of

I haven’t heard much on how it would work if another group govern and Hamas are still present

Why? Why not let UN peacekeepers do it? Having the people who have murdered 1000s of Palestinans and starved over 2million Palestinians occupying them is a recipe for disaster. Surely anyone can see that? Israel have proved for decades that they can't be trusted around Palestinians without murdering, humiliating and controlling them. Why on earth would this time be any different. Israel should be told to stay the fuck away from them.

As far as I am aware Israel have killed more UN and aid workers than Hamas ever have? Israel are extremely dangerous, it isn't safe to let them near Palestinians.

How would you ensure the safety of UN peacekeepers if Hamas are to step aside and allow them oversight?

Ecdysiast · 11/11/2023 20:00

The will occupy Gaza and fill it with Jewish settlers. Just like they are doing on the West Bank. It is ethnic cleansing, plain and simple.

Yes i am sure israel will treat them so nice and they will have the same rights as everyone else ..😏
Are tou people for real ? They have been treating them like second class citizens for years taking their homes as military bases threatening them .
Palestianians deserve to live in peace in their land !

There isn't another option but to try. There is nothing to suggest that they won't be safe there is tons of evidence to show that Palestinians will not be safe with Israel anywhere near them. The IDF are positively gleeful with their murdering and torturing, it's evident all over their proud social media posts. Israel need to be kept away, anyone who would even think about starving over 2million people of food and water nevermind carries it out cannot be responsible for their welfare. Nevermind the fact that their almost 2 decades of military occupation has proven they cannot treat Palestinians humanely.

To be honest I'd be more worried about protecting the UN peacekeepers from Israel.

Israel could sever ties and use defence in a way keeps Hamas out, I hope for their sake

But on give it a try, knowing the barbaric actions of Hamas it’s a lot to ask peacekeepers with no means of protection

Would you offer?

Israel withdrew from Gaza in 2005. Hamas have run Gaza since then. Hamas are the government of Gaza.
during that time israel has provided water, electricity and aid. Hamas has supplied rockets and terrorism in return.
to be fair recent events have proved israel need much better security from garza and now have the headache and cost of having to police them again.
do you ever wonder why no one else wants them and why Egypt is fortifying their border, look up the PLO in Kuwait, Jordan and Lebanon.
israel shouldn’t have to shoulder the burden of policing Gaza.

@EasternStandard have you missed this? www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/un-mourns-record-death-toll-war-with-over-100-employees-killed-gaza-2023-11-10/

How would you guarantee the safety of U.N. staff from the IDF? Or the IDGAF as I increasingly want to call them.

This isn’t answering the question on Hamas and UN peacekeepers

Do you think they would be at risk from Hamas?

If not, why not. Any women would rightly consider the barbaric actions on October 7th

Is it something you would risk?

Reallifelurker · 11/11/2023 20:27

The UN* *may be a better that’s true, since they’re neutral.

Israel have proved for decades that they can't be trusted around Palestinians without murdering, humiliating and controlling them

I’m no fan of Israel (as you may of noticed) but I don’t think they act out of sadism. They have an insatiable greed for land (to which they feel entitled) but I don’t think “murder, humiliate, control” are their main objectives.

That said there would be yet more settlements obviously. I’m not arguing the Palestinians will be treated particularly well.

israel built a wall and tried to stay away from them but they broke through and we know the rest, hence the war and Israel’s invasion.
many Palestinians support hamas.
hundreds cheered as shani Louks body was paraded. Members of the crowd spat on her. You think they are all lambs? Thousands of rockets have come over, 300000 Israelis are displaced.

Gaza has been under military occupation you can say Israel withdrew all you want but it isn't true just because you say it is. I'm not taking any of the rest of your post seriously when you are missing the basics.

The wall was to keep Hamas out and it was Hamas that broke through.
The civilian population are not to blame for their actions.
