Ethnic cleansing

Netanyahu has confirmed that Gaza will be occupied by Israel when the bombing stops, with no role for the UN.

Now tell me how this isn't ethnic cleansing ?

Excuse me?
Are you condoning the GENOCIDE???
You are an absolute vile human being

I think it was sarcasm

Where do you think UN peacekeepers are typically deployed @EasternStandard ? In children's farms and soft plays? They go to some of the most challenging places on earth. Not Disneyland.

LlamaLlamaRed · 11/11/2023 20:50

@eardefender are you being paid by the Israeli government Hmm

A wiki link and sarcasm isn’t a great answer either.

It’s a lot to ask of anyone to govern alongside terrorists with evidenced barbarism.

In the same way some countries become too dangerous for aid help to stay.

How would you ensure Hamas would not repeat actions?

Or is that an acceptable risk do you think

Chaitales · 11/11/2023 20:58

I get you, OP.

Feels like people are reading from some sort of standardised Israeli playbook, going down a checklist - this convo is getting too boring

But Hamas
Self defense
2005- BS
But Hamas
But Israel wants peace
Poor Israel, everyone else is evil
Anything Israel says is the best way
Don't give a fudge if a zillion die, they deserve it and Israel needs it

Its ethnic cleansing and a land grab.

It is when you're talking nonsense. Sometimes engaging with people talking cobblers gives the impression that their point has as much merit as yours, just from a different perspective. WON'T SOMEONE THINK OF THE UN PEACEKEEPERS? While ignoring the a) IDF killing of over 100 UN workers and b) that the IDF are killing thousands of children so can't be trusted and c) the UN have worked in Darfur, East Timor and Kosovo, FFS.

It;s the LOOK SQUIRRELS of international relations. Making everyone argue stupid points to take up their time and energy. It is one of the things bots are designed to do...

But Hamas

Hamas are a problem for Palestinians, if they stay in power. Even if people write this ‘But Hamas’ line.

That doesn’t go away with an internet quip

Israel is the biggest problem for Palestinians, and no amount of justification can change that. The whole state was literally built on stolen land taken via forced displacement.

This is madness. You are getting angry over a risk and a question on what long term looks like for people there. There’s other countries where similar questions would have helped and yet the mn ‘squirrels’ line is being shouted out.

Hamas have evidenced their extreme barbarism

Is it something you think they’ll just abandon? Why?

And if you criticise Israel you must be an anti semite.

stormy4319trevor · 11/11/2023 21:08

I thought the whole reason for Israel attacking Gaza on such scale is because they are confident of destroying Hamas? So, once they have done that there obviously must be neutral/UN peacekeeping forces. Of course Israel can't occupy Gaza, because look at the numerous human rights violations in the occupied West Bank. It would be utterly ridiculous. Of course, if people are starting to think Israel can't destroy Hamas then the whole justification ends for their attacks on Gaza, so better call it a day and try something else. International law perhaps?

The reason they are attacking Gaza is because Israel wants to expand it's territory. They don't think of Palestinians as humans, just collateral damage in their need to increase real estate. Using Hamas excuses of bases under hospitals and in water tanks and bakeries and churches and where air exists is just an excuse to legitimise their atrocities, which is working on all the MNers "but hamas" 'ing their way through these threads.

Agree. Calling someone an anti semite has become a get out of jail free card on here. The easiest option rather than actually facing up to facts.

Roste · 11/11/2023 21:14

The term ethnic cleansing does not adequately describe the reality, such a genteel sounding phrase, ‘ethnic cleansing’. Let’s say it as it is; the brutal slaughter of unarmed civilians by a well trained army.

True, this reminds me of this

Ethnic cleansing

I suppose the facts are that sadly the withdrawal in 2005 didn’t work so for Israeli security they have to go in again and occupy. It’s occupation but I don’t see how that is ethnic cleansing. Garzans will be better off under Israeli occupation than hamas occupation. They will get more aid and aid money under Israel and building materials will be used for public buildings and homes instead of terrorism.

Wow you are deluded as hell. They are bombing 'hamas' but 99.5% of them are children babies and innocent people. They're bombing hospitals and homes. They've occupied Palestine and rebranded it as Israel. Gaza has been described multiple times as an open air prison, but sure they are going to build nice new buildings and provide food and a nice life for the gazans when this is all over. 🤔

Biggest rebrand in modern history
Palestine -> Israel
Genocide -> self protection
Open air prison -> freedom
Any criticism of Israel -> but hamas

I’m not really in to the irate posts just bouncing mn insult lines

I’m asking because all the threads over the last few weeks seem to be missing a key part of this - if there is an end tomorrow what do you do about a funded and backed terrorist organisation that has shown how extreme they can be?

And why would they step aside?

Maybe someone does have an answer, but atm it seems problematic for whoever takes over but also people living there

funded and backed terrorist organisation

Do you mean the Israeli government currently unleashing terror, now, and in the past 75 years?

Obviously I mean Hamas

Why would Hamas step aside and how do you see them as an organisation even if Israel cut ties?

The barbs coming back show it’s a hard question

Fine, it is. But Hamas will be a threat to whoever is governing or living there. So how would you deal with that?

@eardefender you have convinced me too! There’s no genocide. No ethnic cleansing. It’s ok to massacre innocent children in the thousands and hide behind the “but…Hamas”

There is absolutely no genocide happening

israel built a wall and tried to stay away from them but they broke through and we know the rest, hence the war and Israel’s invasion.
many Palestinians support hamas.
hundreds cheered as shani Louks body was paraded. Members of the crowd spat on her. You think they are all lambs? Thousands of rockets have come over, 300000 Israelis are displaced.

The wall was to keep Hamas out and it was Hamas that broke through.
The civilian population are not to blame for their actions.

This is patently not true if you watch the footage of the barriers being smashed and hordes of Gazans, including boys, swarming in to have some fun.

Maybe Hamas will fade away like the IRA did once sensible people started giving a shit about rights for the Irish and the opportunity for some self-rule? Then hammered out the Good Friday Agreement, bringing peace to their part of the nation? It’s not inconceivable.
