Ethnic cleansing

Netanyahu has confirmed that Gaza will be occupied by Israel when the bombing stops, with no role for the UN.

Now tell me how this isn't ethnic cleansing ?

@bness Jews have as much right to a home in the Middle East as Palestinians.
I’m sure that’s what you really mean.
Why are you so incensed about this to even suggest that they don’t. If you’re a British Christian, really you have no say.

A home, ofcourse. Christians, Jews and Muslims, they all have ties to the region. But a violent expulsion, forced displacement, indiscriminate killing and violation of international law and decades of apartheid and violence hosted upon the inhabitants? How does that make sense.

Certainfailure · 18/11/2023 12:06

Sounds like the history of the Jews no ?

So that makes it right to do to Palestinians?

Usual posters on this thread frothing at the mouth hysterically shouting ‘genocide’’, ‘ethnic cleansing, ‘Israel is the terrorist state’.

Do you not get it yet that those who matter have not fallen for the horseshit propaganda twisting Israel into the aggressor when the only reason Palestinians are in this situation today is due to their actions since 1948 and refusal to live in peace purely because their neighbours are a Jewish state.

Global forces will not be intervening to wipe out Israel for launching a legitimate war against.a terrorist state, not from the Middle East or the West which is what all this propaganda has been designed for. In fact, some of the opinions from other Arab countries in the Middle East is eye opening to say the least.

Palestinians horrifically murder Israeli babies but Israel is the monster for inadvertently killing babies being used as human shields despite giving warnings for civilians to leave.

Palestinians horrifically murder Israeli children but Israel Is the monster for inadvertently killing children being used as human shields despite giving warnings for civilians to leave.

The key is this is the difference between horrifically murdering (and promising to do so again) and inadvertently killing human shields during a war.

Israelis have been accused of doing to Palestinians exactly what has happened to them. I mean how dumb can you be to believe monsters who rape children and gang rape women, cut off young girls breasts and deliberately burn babies alive. How dumb can you be to believe people who dance in the street shouting God is Great in celebration of those horrific acts.

Only one side in this conflict wants people to die and it’s not the Israelis. If it was the UNCONFIRMED and strangely very quickly counted death toll would be much higher than it is. Note that the Palestinians have not included any ‘freedom fighters’ in their death toll from
what I’ve seen. It’s amazing that none have been killed by the much stronger Israeli army.

That type of chat doesn't work anymore. Israel just bombed a school run by the UN. So everyone can see in real time what the Israeli government are.

Why was it bombed - just for the hell of it?

This particular school wasn’t being used as a school when it was bombed was it?

This is a case in point of my previous post - all that will jump out at people reading the headline is the Israelis bombed a SCHOOL. Imagining it being full of children.

Why didn’t the IDF bomb the thousands of civilians that were like sitting ducks in the safe corridors they opened up for evacuations then? Surely that would have been an excellent opportunity for ‘genocide’?

Incredible resignation letter from NYT poetry editor

I have resigned as poetry editor of the New York Times Magazine.
The Israeli state’s U.S-backed war against the people of Gaza is not a war for anyone. There is no safety in it or from it, not for Israel, not for the United States or Europe, and especially not for the many Jewish people slandered by those who claim falsely to fight in their names. Its only profit is the deadly profit of oil interests and weapon manufacturers.
The world, the future, our hearts—everything grows smaller and harder from this war. It is not only a war of missiles and land invasions. It is an ongoing war against the people of Palestine, people who have resisted throughout decades of occupation, forced dislocation, deprivation, surveillance, siege, imprisonment, and torture.
Because our status quo is self-expression, sometimes the most effective mode of protest for artists is to refuse.
I can’t write about poetry amidst the ‘reasonable’ tones of those who aim to acclimatize us to this unreasonable suffering. No more ghoulish euphemisms. No more verbally sanitized hellscapes. No more warmongering lies.
If this resignation leaves a hole in the news the size of poetry, then that is the true shape of the present.—Anne Boyer

It was a UN school in a refugee camp, it was a civilian object. You cannot bomb a civilian object because you suspect enemy combatants may be hiding there, you need proof before you undertake that operation. Even if you have the proof you also have to consider proportionality, you cannot kill hundreds of civilians to target one enemy combatant.

These are matters of international law and should matter to all of us.

The school was being used to shelter people who were already displaced. Reports mention the site of the attack being strewn with the bodies of women and children, clearly not enemy combatants.

The attack is yet one more war crime committed by the IDF.

They did bomb civilians in the safe zones. They told them to evacuate to here or there and then a few days later, with no warning, bombed it. BBC Verify looked at four cases and found proof in three of the four cases.

The big emerging issue is not enough food or water going in and no power for sewage systems. People, not just injured patients, are starting to die of dehydration, disease and starvation.

“Supplies of food and water are practically non-existent in Gaza and only a fraction of what is needed is arriving through the borders. With winter fast approaching, unsafe and overcrowded shelters, and the lack of clean water, civilians are facing the immediate possibility of starvation," said WFP Executive Director Cindy McCain. "There is no way to meet current hunger needs with one operational border crossing. The only hope is opening another, safe passage for humanitarian access to bring life-saving food into Gaza."

Earlier this week, WFP confirmed the closure of the final bakery operating in partnership with the agency due to lack of fuel. Fuel shortages have triggered a crippling halt in bread production across all 130 bakeries in Gaza. Bread, a staple food for people in Gaza, is scarce or non-existent.”

I suppose the facts are that sadly the withdrawal in 2005 didn’t work so for Israeli security they have to go in again and occupy. It’s occupation but I don’t see how that is ethnic cleansing. Garzans will be better off under Israeli occupation than hamas occupation. They will get more aid and aid money under Israel and building materials will be used for public buildings and homes instead of terrorism.

I keep hearing how they withdrew from Gaza but they still have total control. From water and food and who enters and exits. They also evict innocent Palestinians from their home and land to steal from them. IDF are still terrorising Palestinians from the West Bank as well

ssd · 18/11/2023 22:18

What hospital will they have to bomb and evacuate next as hamas are hiding under that one?

What a convenient excuse.

JSMill · 18/11/2023 22:39

I don't think @WilmaWonka actually cares.

"Autumn night falls over the beach of Gaza/Planes are bombing, destruction, destruction/Look the IDF (Israeli army) is crossing the line/To annihilate the swastika bearers," the children sing.

"In another year there will be nothing there/And we will return safely to our homes/Within a year we will annihilate everyone/And then we will return to plow our fields."

Israeli children sing racist song about annihilating Palestine

@ester It is very sad indeed to see children singing about annihilating everyone and dropping bombs. There's no way they can even understand the full implications of what they are singing/ The adults who put the song together should be ashamed.

eester · 20/11/2023 21:54

@stormy4319trevor I totally agree. So sad.
