Add your name to the list as follows:

How is everyone this fine Monday morning?

fatandiknowit · 02/02/2009 12:18

Hope you are all well today!

V. busy at work as about 1/2 the office didn't amke it in due to snow issues (as I only live three miles away I had no such luck!)

Where can I buy reasonably priced ovulation sticks from - what is a reasonable price????

georgimama · 02/02/2009 12:24

I know lots of people have bought them on ebay quite cheaply, also pregnancy tests, no idea how much, sorry.

I am trying to avoid ovulation testing and temperature taking (as my GP said "that way madness lies") as now I am on Metformin I would hope the ovulation to sort itself out as it did before. I am just going to aim for sex every other day now AF has gone until it either appears or I'm on day 28 +.

louisean · 02/02/2009 12:38

fatandiknowit all my staff have called in due to snow too, absolute nightmare!!

what are the affects of a gynefix to fertility?? i had mine taken out two months ago x

scarlotti · 02/02/2009 14:34

Homeinthesun - thanks for that, will give it a go.

fatandknowit - try babymad.com they do all sorts of conception stuff really cheaply. OPK's and preg tests and bbt thermometers.

georgimama - yep, madness is here! For us timing of conception is an issue due to my age and the age of ds, plus me having to save up for maternity so planning was key. Plus the thought of bd'ing every other day for 4 weeks is too much for me

Snow has kept me home today as has shut ds' nursery and dd's school. DH is home too. Interesting note on what we've done with our day - I've done washing, tidying and changed the bedding. DH has watched tv, done some internet surfing and is now building a snowman... not sure what that tells me!

fatandiknowit · 02/02/2009 15:22

scarlotti - I had to go into work as I live 3 miles away (no excuse) DH however, coudl not get to his work (road closures etc)

He too has spent the day interwebbing, building a snowman "for the dog" '(clearly we are over ready for children) and generally messing about.

You have my sympathy as I know I will be cleaning etc when I get in!

Thanks for the ov. stick info - may well iinvest in some - I like a scientific aapproach!

RipMacWinkle · 02/02/2009 15:37

Hi all

I didn't join the Oct thread last month as I was having a wee break (but not from TTC!). I'd like to join in again this month. We're now on cycle 14 or 15 (lost count) and for the first time, I'm going to use OPK sticks. DH is on board after just trying to go with the flow for far too long.

Emotionally, I'm a bit worried that if I get PG this month it will be exactly a year after my mc (i.e. I was due last Nov) but I'll deal with that if I get a BFP.

Adding myself on the list and wishing us all lots and lots of babydust.

Hi louisean - welcome! We're both TTC#1 - woo! Are you as excited and scared as I am?

What's everyone else doing for their prenatal care? I'll admit that I didn't even know that prenatal care was a thing until about 2 weeks ago... So far I've bought some grapefruit juice and have started drinking green tea. I also popped into Boots today to pick up some Folic acid, but I got all stressed out right there in the aisle. They had a few different things to choose from and I couldn't tell which product would be best for me. In the end I went for the Pregnancy Mum to B Advanced capsules - "a formula containing Folic acide, Omega 3 and Probiotics". Anyone else taking these?

Also - just wondering, should I make an appointment with my GP to discuss TCC or should I wait a while? I'm TTC#1, cycle 1...

Any advice would be much appreciated as I feel like I have no clue what I'm doing here...why don't they teach you this stuff in school? I'm 32 but feel like I'm in my first week of high school at the moment...

georgimama · 02/02/2009 15:47

I've just started on Metformin again as I have PCOS (was on Met to conceive DS and it worked 3rd month - am hoping for similar results this time although we are 3 years older now!) and the other good thing about this is that you cannot drink alcohol - well only in minute quantities - so have given up drinking as of Friday!

Stocked up on folic acid at lunchtime and Wellman for DH - it helped a lot last time - significant improvement in sperm count and motility.

Don't forget your menfolk - they need vitamins and a good diet too!

fatandiknowit · 02/02/2009 16:16

Hi violet we are also TTC #1 and went to the docs about TTC - she was lovely but told me stuff I already know eg. folic acid etc etc.

She just told me to come back when it happened or if we were TTC for longer than one year (as I am in my thirties)

I'm just going with Lloyds pharmacy folic aacid it was on special offer and looked as good as any other.

louisean · 02/02/2009 16:53

hey violetbubbles yeah i'm really excited and extremeley scared my DP is more excited than me i think, he's like a little child.
don't worry i had a major fit over the folic acid decisions and i ended up getting the same as you did! so fingers crossed. i have also cut out caffiene as that was my major downfall!!

Hi fatandiknowit oooo how exciting, all in it together, just make sure you keep your progress posted

I'm getting off the bus I'm afraid. After teasing me by being late by several days, AF is finally here. I will have to give it more than 30 days before I can test again, so I'll wait at the stop for the December bus!

Will be watching this thread with fingers crossed for everyone!

Hello all!

Hope you're having a lovely evening whatever it is you're doing

Hello to all the newcomers, am wishing you lots of luck x

CakeForBreakfast You could still have a November baby couldn't you? Unless I've got myself all in a muddle that is . My AF's not due till Wed, and so we'll start trying after that, and IF we get lucky then we would be due in November. Hope that's not me getting confused

Violet I went to my GP when we were starting to ttc ds, and she did a blood test just to check my immunities against certain things so she'd be prepared for when we fell pg. I'm in Belgium, and so it might be that they do things differently here, but it might be worth a try? It's very exciting and nervewracking going into it for the first time isn't it! I bet you can't think of anything else. Mind you, I'm still like that.....

FiFi Thanks for the info on the Deanna plan, sounds very interesting. Shall try and do as much of it as we can!
Am very much enjoying the ride so far, but can your dog Borstal man take another loony pup please. She's driving me crazy

CakeForBreakfast · 02/02/2009 19:50

monkeybumsmum You are right! It would be possible to still sneak one in Nov. I was counting a new cycle length of 31 days for me!

Good luck with AF staying away. x

CakeForBreakfast · 02/02/2009 19:53

fatandknowit - lol! a snowman for the dog?!

Welcome to all the new ladies boarding, let's hope it's the lucky bus.

I've got Pregnacare vitamins from the chemist and get dh to take a vitamin with added zinc as that's supposed to make them swim better. Not sure if it's true or not but at least we feel like we're helping things along somehow.

scarlotti · 02/02/2009 21:51

Oh, and a quick p.s.
Homeinthesun had suggested B6 as a help towards my pms. When I looked it up it would appear it can help with conception too and reduce miscarriage.
Check this article - www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-455891/Eating-bowl-cereal-help-pregnant.html

Who knows, but might be worth a shot!

Scarlotti I found this on a Yahoo Health web page when I googled PMS Symptoms:- daily vitamin B6 is likely to improve PMS depression and physical symptoms. Take no more than 100 mg daily to avoid toxic effects on the nervous system.

Hope this helps good luck for valentines night.

She's driving me crazy

monkeybumsmum You are right! It would be possible to still sneak one in Nov. I was counting a new cycle length of 31 days for me!

Good luck with AF staying away. x

Hello everyone - hope the new joiners have found a comfy seat. Updated those not already updated. Wow the days are moving quickly. Can't believe I'll be on the sponsored BD again soon. I think I'll raise a lot of money

Hope AF arrives as planned MBM. I have added you back in cake - sorry AF arrived but do stay on the November Bus. I'll be back on it again if things don't work out for me this month.
