2023 TTC 35+

VixFromThe6ix · 24/02/2023 01:42

Hi everyone!!
Wanted to start another group thread for those TTC that are 35+.
When I was first trying, this group helped me a lot. We bonded and went through pains and celebrations together. I had two MCs over 2yrs of trying and lots of crying as I was typing many of my posts. Support helped... Especially at this age.
I had my first baby Jan 2022 and here we are now trying for baby #2.
I'll be 40 this summer!!!
Join me and share your story ☺️

Glad to have found this thread 😊 36 here and trying for baby #2.

im sorry to hear you have experienced MC in the past and so glad you eventually got your beautiful baby! Have your cycles settled back since birth?

I conceived my DD on first month trying (age 30) but on cycle 11 now for my second one. I’ve had blood tests this month and all is ok, DH is having tests in April.

Are you at the start of your current cycle? I’m 11dpo so at that point where it could go either way, AF is due Sun/Mon. Not got my hopes up..

If im honest im really scared that due to my age things will be harder this time around as my first was conceived first cycle after stoppin the pill. Im testing with clearblue ovulation sticks at min as i have no idea about my cycle as i only ever had random periods on the pill months apart xx

Hi all,
Joining in here, I'm 36 (37 in a couple of months) TTC our first. I had my coil out in September 22 but went straight back to regular cycles. I'm now 13dpo cycle 6 of trying with no luck yet and don't think this cycle is the one either. We've been to doc this month and I had initial bloods done and OH had SA this week. Just waiting on results for both. Initial chat highlighted some issues that may mean we need intervention but will see what results bring.
Forever hopeful if a little anxious!
Xx

37 here, 38 in a few months. TTC #2 and on cycle 1.

Had my first in my mid-20s unexpectedly but worried that my age will make conceiving more difficult this time.

AmyA64 · 24/02/2023 12:01

So glad I found this thread! Turned 38 last week and TTC #1 on cycle 3. Only just getting to grips with my cycle after being on the pill for so many years and started LH testing last month. Due to ovulate Sunday but a LH test this morning was very faint. The anxiety is a killer!

TheBirdintheCave · 24/02/2023 12:28

I'm 36 and have been trying to conceive number two for thirteen months now. In that time I've had two missed miscarriages both at nine weeks.

My son is two and it took us 15 months to conceive him. My husband formally had low sperm motility but this has disappeared during his most recent analysis (which makes sense since I actually got pregnant twice last year).

My last miscarriage was in December and I'm now half way through the second cycle. I had a very dark OPK on CD10 along with EWCM but no idea if I ovulated then as my temps have been screwed up since as I'm currently ill 🙄

Our first IVF cycle will start in April.

38andtrying · 24/02/2023 13:02

38 and TTC1, had a missed miscarriage back in December and now on cycle 2 and so far it is emotionally draining :(

First time pregnant it happened straight away, wasn't really trying too much, so hoping that wasn't my lucky time used up and it wont happen again

went for fertility assessment and have my results/consultation on Tuesday :)

Hiii!!

I'm 13CD right now so I should be ovulating soon hopefully. LH line was super faint yesterday. It's my first cycle doing ovu sticks again so I'm curious if my period has regulated after pregnancy.

I had low progesterone last time around which was what caused a series of events that lead to the MCs. Once I took progesterone supplements, we got pregnant and stayed pregnant.

So I'm nervous.... Contemplating if I should go ask for a test to check if it's normalized or it's low again. I don't know if I can bear another MC

Hiii 👋

Hopefully it won't be a hard road ahead and you can get pregnant quickly!

For my first I started when I was 35....got pregnant and stayed pregnant at 37 and had my baby at 38. So yeah I was so nervous about the age, too, and I did have some difficulty. But I honestly think it was due to me being on depo shot previously not so much the age. that screwed my system up completely and caused my progesterone become low and cause the two MCs.

Here I am at almost 40 trying again.... Yikes!!!

I'm testing with easy @home sticks. They are cheap and worked for me for previous pregnancies. They actually detected my pregnancies earlier than the expensive tests... Go figure lol

I hope the tests come back good 🤞🏻🤞🏻

When we started trying and had our two MCs, we qualified to go seek help at a fertility clinic as I was over 35. Did sooooo many tests and all tests came back perfectly fine. So it was very confusing why I kept losing pregnancies. I did my own reading. It was my progesterone!! I told the doctor I think that's what it was. She prescribed I took vaginal progesterone and that fixed the issue. We had our baby! So make sure they are testing for it too.... For us it wasn't included for some reason.

I remember this anxiety. I don't miss it lol but it's what we have to do! I can't imagine not using ovu sticks! My period was so weird and I ovulated late which I only found out with testing. Apps don't tell you that tho lol in the perfect world I would have ovulated on cd14 but some days I didn't ovulate till cd22!!

I'm cd13 today and yesterday the line was very light too.... So I don't know. I haven't tested since I had my baby so I'm curious if my periods have regulated and when my ovulation is. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Great idea for a thread 👏, 36(soon to be 37! Next month). Just about ready to start TTC 2nd, planning on starting to try next cycle (when we get the energy to try 😂). Had my first child conceived aged 34 and he is now 16 months, it took us 6 months to conceive first time round, nothing was happening and then I haemorrhaged money on some proceive max sachets and got pregnant straight away so I’m taking them again this time too. Fingers crossed 🤞

Sending baby dust your way, mama!!

It took us about 2yrs to conceive the first (on and off) and we also had two MCs. Got some tests done by fertility clinic and started taking progesterone and got pregnant and stayed pregnant. We were going to start IVF in Nov 2021 but got pregnant in may 2021.

We are now starting to try again and I'm nervous history will repeat itself again. My age, progesterone and god knows what else could all cause issues for us. It makes me nervous that I'll have another MC. That was hard to deal with before I had my son, I imagine it's even harder while having to lead a normal life raising a toddler.

It is absolutely not the lucky time used up. Good thing is that you got pregnant!! Hope results are clear.
When I first got pregnant it was like you, too. Didn't plan it and it happened super quickly. Unfortunately it didn't last but I was glad to know I can get pregnant.
MCs are so common especially at 35+. Keep trying and as draining as it is, don't give up.
Keep us updated on how your consultation goes 🤞🏻

So glad I found this thread!

im 36, DP is 56… we’ve been off contraception for just over a year, actively trying for about 5/6 months and nothing at alls so far. I’ve had hormones checked which are all good, and he’s got a sperm analysis booked. 🤞

My son is 13mos and we decided to start trying. Took a while first time around so who knows how long this one will take.
Never heard of proceive max. I will have to look into them. I'll take any help ahahaha

Are you using ovulation sticks??

OP posts:
AgeGapBbe · 24/02/2023 13:54

Yup, have been using them every month for about 6 months. I keep reminding myself that ‘off contraception’ isn’t the same as ‘trying’ (unless you’re very regular and at it like rabbits!)

Mummyme87 · 24/02/2023 14:00

Hey, I’m 36 and ttc #3.my story is, DS1 is 8, unplanned, DS2 is 5 and he took 6 cycles. In July 2020 I had an unplanned pregnancy which turned out to be a partially ruptured ectopic resulting in losing my right fallopian tube.
I had the mirena coil removed in October 2021 and have been ttc ever since with no BFP. Just had two months break from it all as my sister gets married in Greece in October so needed some time when I wouldn’t be heavily pregnant or have a super newborn.

I’m now CD4, my cycles are usually 25days and I usually ovulate on CD13.

I have had some tests done so far, a scan was normal and thyroid looked normal. Progesterone on 3 out of 4 occasions was low indicating that I wasn’t ovulating that frequently despite getting positive OPKs. I decided not to have the 4th covid vaccine last autumn after reading lots of stuff about it potentially affecting ovulation. My last vaccine was a year ago, and I last knowingly had covid in July 2022, and from October/November 2022 I’ve started feeling ovulation pain again so I’m praying that this means things are back on track for me.

anyway, that was a lot of writing. That’s me! We are looking to have some private fertility investigations, just need to make the decision To actually book something. I’m a midwife also, and that is starting to make this particularly hard, also alongside my step sister is now pregnant, my BFF also, plus two of my cousins. I’m definitely starting to struggle.

MK85 · 24/02/2023 15:24

I'm 37 , trying to conceive my first. It's been a roller coaster over 17 years. I have pcos and he has high abnormal count. By some miracle I ovulated for the first time in my life in dec and conceived but lost it in early Jan. We've been referred for treatment ( be it ivf or icsi ) but its a long wait so were trying to stay positive that it can happen again

VixFromThe6ix · 24/02/2023 15:47

Hahaha definitely not our case ... We are so tired and cosleeping with our 1yr old isn't exactly sexy 😅
Depo shot was what I was on ..it took I think 5mos for my period to come back. Knowing now so much about ovulation, we really don't have to take contraception if we tracked our ovulation lol it's a lot of work but it's not playing with your hormones

Fingers crossed that you're ovulating!! Do you also to basal temperature along with the opks? I feel like that's a more certain way to tell. I did it one cycle and stopped. The commitment is too much plus I'm a mouth breather hahaha so it's not a true reading.

When I was unsuccessful in staying pregnant and seeing everyone else getting pregnant so quickly and successfully, it took a toll on me. I took a year off trying. Mentally it was draining to be around bellies and babies, while I was bleeding due to my MCs.

When I finally got pregnant and stayed pregnant, I was a complete stressed mess. Receiving good news felt fake, like it's all gonna stop again. I bawled like a baby when I heard the heartbeat while shaking like a leaf.

I'm trying to push back all that trauma and be positive because we are trying again but I just can't help and think it won't be easy.

Thank you for sharing your story and I'm looking forward to seeing how things go for you. Baby dust your way 💖
