2023 TTC 35+

1000 replies

VixFromThe6ix · 24/02/2023 01:42

Hi everyone!!
Wanted to start another group thread for those TTC that are 35+.
When I was first trying, this group helped me a lot. We bonded and went through pains and celebrations together. I had two MCs over 2yrs of trying and lots of crying as I was typing many of my posts. Support helped... Especially at this age.
I had my first baby Jan 2022 and here we are now trying for baby #2.
I'll be 40 this summer!!!
Join me and share your story ☺️

@Mummyme87 Potentially male factor because 1 of 4 tests was below what it should be but not sure if it was just a blip as we have children and the others were fine. Tried ovulation induction for a few months but didn’t work. I really feel like it’s the end of the road. I feel less and less comfortable about trying treatments as time goes on. I was for everything at first and now I’m not sure x

I’m 36 and been TTC our third for two years with no previous issues. Need to decide whether to pursue treatment or walk away now. It’s all getting to be too much! 💔

Are you tracking ovulation, mama?

Thank you @VixFromThe6ix ! Sending some baby dust back to you 😊 This is my first cycle of trying, I guess it’s unlikely that Im successful straight away at my age. Still my mind starts to go crazy and I feel all kind of symptoms already 😅

Haha you're not alone. I swear our brain plays tricks on us!! I remember trying first time around, and every cycle I'd be super focused on how my body is acting and I'd convince myself it's acting somehow differently than normal 😂 but it's probably cause I never paid this close attention before

Agh girls got a flashing smiley today! Only came off the pill on 21st!! Now worrying thats super soon ....

Flashing smiley means you're close to ovulation?
Honestly, my friend got pregnant weekend after coming off the pill she was on since she was a teenager.... So it's possible

@VixFromThe6ix my logic was make sure I'm ovulating before we TTC as don't want to unnecessarily stress myself. Given I've got my flashing face I'm hopeful I am as that means I can TTC whilst still continuing to BF until DD self weans.

If my ovulation cycle is the same as pre pregnancy I'm expecting my solid smile on Monday (CD11). I'm excited but also nervous.

How old is your DC?

He is 13mos :)

Hope I can join too? I'm 38 TTC #2 and in second cycle. Our DD took 15 months, lots of tests, a CP and recommendation of IVF, then conceived her naturally before we started treatment. She's just turned 2 ❤️.
This time so far we got a positive test first cycle, but ended up being a CP. So fully expecting a long road ahead. I'm on my second peak opk of the cycle after getting one last weekend too. My body is being very dramatic about ovulating this month...I've had fertile cm for 9 days straight 😂.

Is anyone taking ubiquinol? And if so, what dosage.

Baby dust xx

Welcome!!

37 and TTC our first. 7 or 8 cycles in now? I’ve lost count. Had 2 CPs, December and Jan. Just had day 21 and day 3 bloods done. Day 21 bloods were fine, awaiting results of day 3. DH in for his sample 9th March. First month this month that I can’t be arsed with it all. Don’t think I’m even going to ov test this month.

Welcome!!

It's good to have a break from it all. It's such effort on our part... Hope all the tests come back normal ,🤞🏻

Great idea! I’m 38 and TTC our first. We’re onto cycle 14 😫I had a hycosy afew days ago and I’m hoping that it’ll do the trick. My doc said it can improve chances of conceiving by 30% if you have clear tubes like me.

Ive done it ALL in terms of supplements & I’ve decided to chill right out & just take the essentials, folic acid with zinc and vitamin D.

Good luck everyone!

Freya8 · 25/02/2023 19:11

@VixFromThe6ix i really hope so!! Aghh fingers crossed i will and it wont be endless flashing smileys! Im really over thinking every single unknown here loll!!

Un7breakable · 25/02/2023 19:31

TTC #1 at 35 here. Circumstances meant we couldn't start trying till this month but the more I read the more I worry we've left it too late 😓 All our friends have several kids now. They all know we want kids but to save us heartache we've decided not to tell anyone were TTC, some hoping this thread will help.

Welcome!! 35 is definitely not too late!!
When we were trying I told one person. It took us a while but it was nice to have her as someone I can cry to.
But after failing time and time over I started relying on the old 35+ thread more for support. Somehow it was easier to be honest and vulnerable with others who went through similar situations.
I hope this will be that place again for us all

35 is definitely not too late! I was 35 when I had DD. We conceived 1st cycle. Used CB OPKs and enjoyed DTD.

Baby dust to us all 💕

Thanks for the welcome. Very confused here. Usually have pretty regular 26/27 day cycles with maybe a day of spotting beforehand and sometimes a day or two in the middle of a cycle. At 8dpo started spotting and it happened on and off each day for 6 days. Sometimes red, sometimes pink, sometimes brown. Have short luetual phase, was due AF either Friday or Saturday, no sign and no spotting. FRER was a BFN yesterday afternoon. Any idea what is going on?

Sods law that first month TTC my cycles messed up.

Not sure what to do if it doesn't turn up in next few days. NHS says only see a doctor if missed 3 periods but I've never missed a period before.

LeopardLover · 26/02/2023 07:54

Hello! I spy some familiar names from another thread and would love to join! 😊 I'm 37 and I'll be TTC #2 in May. I'm currently taking lots of vitamins and trying to eat clean to give ourselves the best possible chance. Conceived our son at 34 on cycle 3.

DS is 22 months and doesn't sleep through the night, so that's an additional challenge 😅

@Honolulu123 I'm just taking 100mg of ubiquinol as I don't have any known fertility issues!

@VixFromThe6ix It's really cool you're ready to go again with a 13 month old! I think if we plan to have 3 we might need to have #2 and #3 close together. I'm being very hopeful here! Lots of women conceive into their 40s so I hope it'll happen soon for you.

Mummyme87 · 26/02/2023 09:02

We see huge amounts of 35-45yr olds naturally conceiving, it does give me confidence that it will happen for me, but why after no issues getting pregnant previously is it now taking so long?!? I do only have one tube now which supposedly doesn’t affect anything but arghhh

AmyA64 · 26/02/2023 15:44

Can I ask what vitamins/ supplements people take? I’m 38 3rd round ttc #1 and currently just taking a well woman multi vit. Any tried and tested supplements or vitamin combos o should be taking to increase chances?

I took well woman conception when TTC DD. I took for 3 months before TTC and got my BFP cycle 1.

For DC2 I'm currently taking wellwoman breastfeeding. It's basically got the same make up as conception. Will switch to conception when it finishes if I'm not pregnant by then .

Hi all

Hope it's okay to join, I'm 36 and ttc our first, we had a previous mc at 7 weeks and recently lost our baby boy at 23w at Christmas due to an infection. It took us 2 years to conceive between our first mc and our 23w loss who was conceived by IVF, our second cycle. We have one frozen embyro but having to wait six months from our loss before they will allow us to proceed with the FET.

Currently using CB opks and bbt to track my cycle, trying naturally until we can restart IVF.

Hope you are all staying strong!

woman conception when my current stock of well woman vits run out! Wishing you lots of luck and baby dust for DC2!

I'm using normal well woman. Tried the conception a few years ago and made my cycle super long. Heard lots of similar stories. I also take Omega 369 (don't eat fish) and zinc (support immune system) both are also recommended for fertility.

Does the normal one have the retinol form
of vitamin A in it? If so, you can't take that whilst pregnant, which is why they don't add it to conception vitamins.

I wouldn't be the one to give advice especially if you've been regular this far. Before getting pregnant I was all over the map... Heavy, light, long spotting periods, then one heavy day, crazy painful cramps.... Some months my period would be early or late but for no reason.
I would call your doctor if you're concerned just to have a piece of mind.
I find that when I try to research on my own, I just make myself worry even more cause it's either "nothing to worry about" or "you're dying" according to google lol

Hi!!!
If it was up to me I'd wait a bit longer because he's not sleeping through the night and I'm still breastfeeding. And truthfully I feel guilty bringing another baby and taking attention from him. But I'm trying to put feelings aside and think more realistically. Age is definitely a factor and the fact that first one didn't come easy so I'm not expecting to get pregnant on cycle 1....
If I was like 35... I'd wait till he's 2 and would have liked a third but ya not likely for us.
