VixFromThe6ix · 24/02/2023 01:42

Hi everyone!!
Wanted to start another group thread for those TTC that are 35+.
When I was first trying, this group helped me a lot. We bonded and went through pains and celebrations together. I had two MCs over 2yrs of trying and lots of crying as I was typing many of my posts. Support helped... Especially at this age.
I had my first baby Jan 2022 and here we are now trying for baby #2.
I'll be 40 this summer!!!
Join me and share your story ☺️

I'm 37 , trying to conceive my first. It's been a roller coaster over 17 years. I have pcos and he has high abnormal count. By some miracle I ovulated for the first time in my life in dec and conceived but lost it in early Jan. We've been referred for treatment ( be it ivf or icsi ) but its a long wait so were trying to stay positive that it can happen again

Hi and welcome !

I'm sorry to hear about your MC. It's emotionally draining, isn't it? I hope you're doing ok.

I'm glad to see you're continuing to try! When I had my first Mc, I took a year off. I just couldn't... But after my second MC, I tried changing my mindset and kept trying relatively shortly after.

I hope it happens for you naturally, but it's great to have a plan b (IVF, etc). Sending you baby dust!!

@VixFromThe6ix definitely! Finding out so much more about the whole process (and bitter experience) has made me realise just how actually unlikely pregnancy is for the average couple- I’m tempted to not go back on contraception ever, tbh. (Famous last words…)

Hahahaha famous last words indeed! But I'm gonna really try not to go back on it. Being 40 this year, I got like what 10yrs till menopause? 😅 I think I can do it 🫣

I understand @Mummyme87 im a nanny, and have been looking after a baby the past few months- though that made me doubt it all a bit tbh 😬DSiS had her first baby a few weeks ago, she doesn’t even have a man, conceived on the first go a few months after I came off contraception. It’s the first grandchild for our parents. I had spent months (before I knew about any of it) so stressed about how to tell her when I became pregnant as she’d been so sad she ‘wouldn’t get the chance’. It sucks.

Can i join this thread? I'm 36 due to TTC

Mummyme87 · 24/02/2023 16:43

@VixFromThe6ix I don’t do BBt. I’ve tried a few times but I wake multiple times a night, often forget on initial waking and wake at different times due to shifts. I definitely feel more confident that I ovulate now, feeling it is reassuring!

Eirlys1986 · 24/02/2023 16:47

@VixFromThe6ix proceive max is ludicrously expensive but as I said I conceived very quick after commencing and a friend who is 40 also suddenly conceived twins after 7 months of trying first cycle she was on it. I understand some IVF specialists advise taking it if people can afford to during treatment. I also found my bloods during pregnancy to be really good, doctors were amazed that I developed no anaemia and maintained really good iron throughout. A lot of which I put down to that supplement. I am a doctor too so hopefully I’m not talking tripe 😂

I'm glad!!! Hope it works out!

I was never one to feel ovulation pains so I rely heavily on opks haha

Is it prescribed or over the counter?

TheBirdintheCave · 24/02/2023 17:41

@VixFromThe6ix I order my husband's on Amazon. We can't afford for both of us to take it so I just take extra vitamin d on top of my regular Pregnacare.

Hi, I'm 35, TTC number two. Technically on cycle one, however(!) my DH works away for 6 weeks at a time and left left week whilst I was on my period so... I feel like this might not be the winning cycle 😂 I conceived my 1st at 32 whilst having some cheeky 'safe' sex at the end of my period. Not so safe.

As such, I don't know what my body does or when it ovulates- I've never really felt it. I'm reluctant to try OPKs at first as I get a bit obsessive about things and want to just go with it, but also aware that with 2 weeks in between his 6 weeks away at a time, this might not be the most sensible approach. Although I guess we just DTD loads when he's home, right? 😄 sending baby dust to you all and love to those who have been waiting a while or who have lost babies x

TrudyProud · 24/02/2023 21:39

Hi ladies, may I join? I'm 36 (37 in the winter). I'm currently breastfeeding DD -she's 10months. She (thankfully) was conceived our first month TTC.
I'm hoping to start TTC no2 in April but right now I'm using CB OBK to make sure BF isn't impacting my ovulation. Today I got my flashing smily face so fingers crossed in the coming few days I get my static then our TTC journey can continue!

So excited to see all the BFPs on this thread

Baby dust to you too!!!

Hope your dtd lots method works, hehe. It sure is more fun than planned sex with opks, but for me it's the only way I know when I'm ovulating.

I'm still BF too!! I hope that it won't affect us TTC. It's our first cycle trying and I just started using ovulation sticks again. Curious to see if I'm ovulating

I’m 36 and been TTC our third for two years with no previous issues. Need to decide whether to pursue treatment or walk away now. It’s all getting to be too much! 💔

Amadeaa · 25/02/2023 07:44

Thank you @VixFromThe6ix ! Sending some baby dust back to you 😊 This is my first cycle of trying, I guess it’s unlikely that Im successful straight away at my age. Still my mind starts to go crazy and I feel all kind of symptoms already 😅

Freya8 · 25/02/2023 10:53

Agh girls got a flashing smiley today! Only came off the pill on 21st!! Now worrying thats super soon ....

TrudyProud · 25/02/2023 11:27

@VixFromThe6ix my logic was make sure I'm ovulating before we TTC as don't want to unnecessarily stress myself. Given I've got my flashing face I'm hopeful I am as that means I can TTC whilst still continuing to BF until DD self weans.

If my ovulation cycle is the same as pre pregnancy I'm expecting my solid smile on Monday (CD11). I'm excited but also nervous.

How old is your DC?

Mummyme87 · 25/02/2023 12:31

@Anonbaby i hear you. It’s so hard especially when there’s been no issues before. Have you had any investigations?

Anonbaby · 25/02/2023 13:09

@Mummyme87 yes had everything! We were going to do IVF. But everything is so expensive at the moment and having three children is a big financial commitment, without having to fund IVF to get a child in the first place

Honolulu123 · 25/02/2023 13:43

Hope I can join too? I'm 38 TTC #2 and in second cycle. Our DD took 15 months, lots of tests, a CP and recommendation of IVF, then conceived her naturally before we started treatment. She's just turned 2 ❤️.
This time so far we got a positive test first cycle, but ended up being a CP. So fully expecting a long road ahead. I'm on my second peak opk of the cycle after getting one last weekend too. My body is being very dramatic about ovulating this month...I've had fertile cm for 9 days straight 😂.

Is anyone taking ubiquinol? And if so, what dosage.

Baby dust xx

Mummyme87 · 25/02/2023 15:13

@Anonbaby did they find anything on the tests? We also wouldn’t do IVF due to finances but would consider other fertility treatments that were less expensive if appropriate

ttcat37 · 25/02/2023 16:39

37 and TTC our first. 7 or 8 cycles in now? I’ve lost count. Had 2 CPs, December and Jan. Just had day 21 and day 3 bloods done. Day 21 bloods were fine, awaiting results of day 3. DH in for his sample 9th March. First month this month that I can’t be arsed with it all. Don’t think I’m even going to ov test this month.
