Clomid TTC

Hi all,

I wondered if anyone who is currently TTC with Clomid fancied joining a TTC thread? I've had a look and can't see a recent one.

My husband and I have been trying for approx 2 years. I have PCOS and also had a congenital uterine defect (complete septum) which was operated on and fixed in November 2021.

We paid for a private appointment with a gynaecologist yesterday who prescribed 6 months of Clomid. I'm starting off cycle 1 with 50mg and will have a transvaginal ultrasound around CD 10-14.

My period is due in about 3 weeks but ofc with PCOS this is approximate and it might be early/late. My consultant also prescribed norithesterone to bring on a period if it's delayed. I'm tempted to start it soon so I can get cracking with Clomid - patience isn't my strong point!

Would be great to hear from anyone else in a similar position and hopefully share our BFPs in the coming months. TTC can be a lonely time and I've decided to not tell my family/friends about Clomid as it upsets me too much when I have to tell them I'm still not pregnant.

@lucymc11 I'm on 100mg now and it works so well for me, hoping the sperm meets egg sometime soon🤣 I'm only 1dpo tomorrow! Are you excited?

Really hope this cycle is the one for you! How long had you been TTC before you started Clomid?

Yeah I am excited but also scared to get my hopes up too much. I've seen lots online where people share it worked first cycle but just have a feeling it won't be that easy for me.

My period isn't due for 3 weeks so I've got a while to wait, unless I take the norethisterone soon to bring on an early period, which is really tempting me. I'm soooo impatient.

I had a very slight tinge of pink in discharge yesterday so I think I will test Monday now, which will be 8dpo. The days are dragging!

Can I join in please? I’m on my first cycle of letrozole for unexplained secondary infertility (I have two children already). It was assumed I ovulate on my own (26-34 day cycles). Been for scans on days 9, 14 and 18 and no dominant follicle. I just don’t understand. Every month I’ve had positive OPKs but letrozole seems to have just made everything go wrong! Any insight would be much appreciated! I’m back at the clinic again on Monday (day 21) for another scan x

I got a faint line today but only in some lights! Am I going mad?! I'm 8/9dpo today and never had a slight line before, without IVF, in 5 years of trying

Hi @Hoping43, welcome! Not having an explanation must be so hard. Sorry I’m not sure I can give any insight - I’m not an expert by any means but hopefully someone on here has been through something similar and can help. I hope your scan goes well tomorrow and you get some answers. Let us know how it goes.

@Longbin I think I can see a very faint line too! I think after TTC for so long we become experts on a negative test so I’m sure if you’re seeing a faint line there’s something there and you’re not going mad. The pink discharge sounds hopeful too - implantation bleeding maybe? Ah hope you’ve got lots on today to keep yourself busy. Do you have any other symptoms?

@lucymc11 it's been so long that it's hard to believe something will actually work. I've had light cramps from about 3dpo for a few days and a really bad headache on around 3dpo too. I am more thirsty than normal as well as I normally don't drink that much. I'm very wary with symptom spotting as I never know if it's the result of medication or not

I've done a clear blue and it is showing as pregnant! Good luck to everyone else on the thread who is TTC ❤️

@Harper02 it's the worst wait isn't it! I've never known time to go so slow as it does in the TWW. When are you planning to test?

I am starting Clomid tonight (hoping to sleep through any side effects!) and I am on CD3.

My husband and I have been trying for over two years. I had a HSG in June and was prescribed Clomid at that appointment. But had to delay starting it until I was 30 days clear of my MMR vaccine. I have endo, so my periods are ridiculously heavy (I have to take TXA or I end up in hospital), a tilted uterus, very short cycles and don't ovulate (what a lucky lady?!)!!!

I am also going on holiday on CD10 - so this month's DTD will be occurring in Spain.

Hi @KittyWitty that’s so exciting you’re starting today! I’ve got about three weeks until I can start taking my Clomid and I’m not one to wish my life away but I hope they fly by.

How many mg are you starting on?

Also, there’s nothing better than DTD on holiday IMO! Hopefully being busy on holiday for some of the TWW will make it feel quicker too?

@lucymc11 I am sure they will! I had to wait for about that long between getting my tablets and today! I just went on a super health kick and made sure I was eating all the right foods and pampering myself a bit.

I’m starting at 50mg. Then the only test I have is a blood test in cycle 2 to see if I ovulated. I’m guessing the dr will up my dose if I haven’t.

I'm looking forward to the holiday and hoping it takes a bit of stress off of the whole thing. I’ll be too busy to think about ovulation/TTW and hopefully won’t spend the whole time symptom spotting!

A clomid thread is exactly what I need. I was prescribed clomid 2 months ago however I can't take it as I have seriously irregular cycles. 1 to 2 periods a year. Gynae also gave me different directions , one told me take days 1 to 5 while another gynae sent a instruction leaflet which I'm supposed to take days 3 for 5 days. I know nothing about this medication since nothing was explained properly so I'd definitely appreciate the support of this thread.
I don't know why my gynae never prescribed me that medication to bring on a bleed knowing how irregular I am.
By the way I'm 36 , ttc since our early 20s

Hi @MK85! Not sure if you know/have used them before, but you can buy Provera or Norethisterone online to delay periods (or bring on a bleed in our case). All the major online pharmacies sell them - Superdrug, Boots etc.

My consultant has prescribed me Norethisterone incase I don't have a period - I'm supposed to take them twice a day for 10 days, and then should start my period 2-3 days after stopping them. Then I've been told to take Clomid for cycle days 2-6 (but I've seen online this does differ, some people are told to take from CD3 or 5 etc.). Hope this helps?

Just the threat I needed - looks like I should be starting provera / clomid end of this week after my hycosy on Friday. Question for you all.

In regards to ovulation strips - did you all use these? Am I right in thinking the lines get stronger as ovulation comes closer? Due to pcos I have never had a positive ovulation strip so a complete newbie to all of this.

Also - anything I need to know before having my hycosy?

I have seen a lot about people getting blood tests / scans throughout taking clomid but my fertility specialist hasn't mentioned any of this? I am going through the NHS - anyone else have none of these? (he did mention no to scans as the likelihood of multiple births was low, but I assumed it was also to see follicles / eggs etc?)
