Hey everyone, I hope it’s ok if I join in? I’ve spent the last few days reading the old thread. I had my ectopic surgery (removal of left tube) on 30th October last year and am just about to consider TTC again, due on my second period next Monday. The ectopic was my first pregnancy and it happened very quick, 2nd month of ttc. Hope everyone is ok! Xx

NigellasMicrowave · 11/01/2021 19:18

Of course @lunacat14 you are very welcome. How have you been in the last few months?

lunacat14 · 11/01/2021 19:23

Thank you! It’s been very up and down, I went back to work 10 days after the op which was both a good and a bad thing. Nervous to start trying again am very anxious of another ectopic! I didn’t get the option of mtx and I was 5 + 2 when they operated so am anxious for my remaining tube. I was hoping for some more information from the letter after testing but it just said sorry and confirmed it was ectopic!

MrsB2019x · 11/01/2021 20:21

Sorry you find yourself here @lunacat14 💙 Totally get the post-ectopic TTC anxiety. There are quite a few of us on here who have successfully gotten pregnant after an ectopic and I’m sure you’ll be one of us! It is a very nerve wracking journey though but we all understand x

ActonBell · 11/01/2021 21:57

Thanks for the new thread. Hi @lunacat14 - I just joined the thread too. My ectopic surgery was last week so we’re not there yet but we want to start ttc again as soon as we can. We have one child already, which makes me feel very fortunate. We have struggled a lot with ttc no 2 and had been trying for a year when this happened. Wishing you well with the next steps. I can imagine that I will be very anxious too when we start ttc again.

They did say after my surgery that they had had a look at everything else (ovaries, other tube) and it all looked healthy. I don’t know what that means though really and I think they only did that because the scan didn’t show my ectopic clearly so they went in not 100% sure of the situation.

lunacat14 · 11/01/2021 21:59

Hey @MrsB2019x thank you! I’m glad there is a post for this I don’t feel as alone! X

@ActonBell

Thanks for the new thread. Hi *@lunacat14* - I just joined the thread too. My ectopic surgery was last week so we’re not there yet but we want to start ttc again as soon as we can. Hey @ActonBell so sorry to hear that. It’s awful when it’s fresh. If it’s any consolation it’s gone very fast for me but still feels like it was yesterday! I think they said along the same lines to be but to be honest I was desperate to just leave hospital and get home and was so shocked I didn’t even take it in! When I woke up straight after the op they told me they took an ovary and then quickly took it back as they hadn’t! On my scan it was visible (3mm) 😣 I really hope you’re doing ok and you recover quickly!
ActonBell · 12/01/2021 12:55

Well it’s hit me like a truck today. I don’t know where this has come from exactly but I’m so full of grief today I can hardly breathe.

Luan82 · 12/01/2021 13:37

Hey ladies !! Can I join ? Would be lovely to just have a conversation with someone that understands.. at just over a year now TTC, one ectopic in June treated with mexo and now waiting for a laparoscopic surgery to understand if it's endo or blocked tubes that are causing the fertility issues. Feels like I'm getting nowhere fast thanks to covid my surgery has been delayed, never thought I'd be so desperate for someone to cut me open and poke around I just need answers !! - I've just turned 38 so currently doing everything I can to help my body health and repair naturally - anyone got any advice? I'm starting on first month of castor oil packs (got one on now!) and massage as my periods are pretty light and short - hoping this will detox my system and remove any old blood ❤️🌈✨ xxx

Luan82 · 12/01/2021 13:40

@ActonBell - bless you, is it a specific day past the surgery or maybe it's something you've seen that's triggered you? It's ok to feel like that, for me it was the first month trying to conceive after the 3 month wait when I got my period and I was so hopeful it might happen but it just didn't xx

ActonBell · 12/01/2021 14:13

It’s a week since I was discharged. Maybe it’s hormone levels dropping or something. I was doing okay the last couple of days but today I’m a mess.
Can ask how many weeks along people were when their ectopic was discovered? I was 6+1 or 2 I think.

NigellasMicrowave · 12/01/2021 14:36

Oh @ActonBell you poor thing. I think everyone will understand what that is. Go easy on yourself and go with the feelings. It does get better. I think I was running on survival adrenaline in immediate aftermath of my ectopic and then it crashed, and my hormones started dropping quite fast and I felt awful. Of course you are full of grief. Anything you need to do to get through the day, just do it.

NigellasMicrowave · 12/01/2021 14:37

To answer your question, I was 6+1 (hospital dates) but 5+5 on my own days (pretty sure I knew when I ovulated).

Luan82 · 12/01/2021 15:18

@ActonBell - they couldn't work it out , or see anything in the scans and had to make the diagnosis based on my bloods, which kept going up but far too slowly. I had my period that month - five days late but normal bleeding and duration, only tested positive a week after the 'period' my guess is that the levels were so low at first that my body shed its lining but the docs don't seem to know tbh.

DoctorBambino · 12/01/2021 15:18

I think the hormones make you feel all over the place! I would randomly cry for weeks afterwards.

I was 8wk5 by my surgery but had ruptured at 6wk5... I was bleeding for 2 weeks after severe pain (the rupture) but thought it was a miscarriage and only found out when I went for a scan after several hcg blood tests.

MrsB2019x · 12/01/2021 17:36

Oh @ActonBell I’m sorry you’re having a rough day. We’ve all been there. I felt my emotions really start to plummet once I started feeling physically better. I hope you’re okay, we are all here for you and all understand.

To answer your question, mine was treated at 5+4 but I was in A&E with severe pain at 5 weeks exactly

Ivybutterfly · 12/01/2021 18:00

Thank you for adding me. Much appreciated. I am in my second trimester now. Lots of love and baby dust to all. It can happen.

Ectopic pregnancy is devastating. Take care of yourself everyone.
Xx

Luan82 · 12/01/2021 18:15

@Ivybutterfly - what a lovely post !! Congrats! I'm so hopeful that eventually we can conceive naturally but in my case I think I might need some help unblocking those pesky tubes first xx

MrsB2019x · 12/01/2021 19:02

@Luan82 Did they indicate that they thought your tubes were blocked anyway or is it just investigative? Hopefully you get some answers soon! x

Luan82 · 12/01/2021 20:14

@MrsB2019x it was officially diagnosed as PUL but as I've been trying for a while now and I had an undiagnosed infection when I was younger they suspect possible scarring or endo - they want to go in and investigate before IVF to see if they can repair the damage or remove the endo x
