I just can’t believe how out of control I feel with this, I’m nearly 3 weeks into expectant management and I cannot knock the care I’ve received from the hospital. But I’ve been in and out of hospital, one minute I’m having the methotrexate, then change of plan, being discharged to keep doing expectant management, then last Monday I was being prepped for surgery, they thought I had internal bleeding as my ultrasound showed free fluid in my uterus, did more tests whilst waiting to go to theatre and they decided no I’m ok we can carry on expectant management. They have really been good at the hospital but it’s been such a rollercoaster and having to do it all alone has been so hard, bloody pandemic, really needed my husband or mum to hold me hand through some of these appointments.
My levels started at 264 so not overly high from the start (diagnosed 5th Jan), down to 66 Wednesday so I’m nearly 3 weeks in. Hoping for good results Thursday!
I’m just hoping this anxiety goes when this is over and I find the courage to try again as we really wanted this pregnancy (trying for our 2nd, was nearly 12 months and we were about to start fertility testing when I found out I was pregnant). Not even processed the pregnancy loss yet!

Lisyloo725 · 25/01/2021 18:50

@Kate105 waaaaaaaaa!!!!!! Fantastic!!

Luan82 · 25/01/2021 23:20

@ThinnerByDinner those numbers are very promising I had to have mexotrethate unfortunately as my numbers started low but reached over 2500 and they couldn't find a sac, they also found free fluid so it was touch and go if I'd need surgery - I had just started with shoulder tip pain when they gave me the meds and it took a long time for the levels to reach zero, fingers crossed 🤞🏼 that the numbers keep going in the right direction x

EmilyG1989 · 26/01/2021 12:26

Hope everyone is ok, I'm still reading the old thread. I have a splitting headache today and feeling paranoid, like a ticking time bomb! Tomorrow is more blood tests to compare with yesterday's... did anyone have a migraine when suffering a rupture? Sorry I'm trying to get through to EPU

littlepeaegg · 26/01/2021 15:07

Hello everyone! I must have missed the tag for this. How are you all?

I'm 10wk 2 today, can't believe it really xx

Kate105 · 26/01/2021 17:38

Plucked up the courage to contact the midwife today (it seems like tempting fate to do it this early but I was told I had to!) and I’ve got an early EPU scan on 16th Feb when I should be 7 weeks. Eeek!

Madly swinging between frantic knicker checking, panic and excitement 😂🙈 xxx

Mumlili9 · 26/01/2021 17:55

@DoctorBambino thank you for the add.

Im starting to recover from covid and Iran tell you ive never been so poorly in my life. My husband is still fighting and is on oxygen so TTC maybe on hold Indefinitely now. Good to see some really good news on here baby dust to everyone else.

Lililou · 26/01/2021 22:31

The hospital have got back and acknowledged they've received my complaint. The patient experience team want a phone call to check a few details. I'm really nervous about it. I've never dealt with hospital complaints or patient experience teams before so no idea what to expect. I've got this worry that they'll make out like I've made a mountain out of a molehill. 😣

@EmilyG1989 I can totally relate to the ticking timebomb feeling. Hope your HCG levels go down, it's positive that that they were quite low from your first test.

@Mumlili9 I'm so sorry to hear that, I'm glad you're recovering and hope that your OH will be on that path to recovery soon.

@ThinnerByDinner, I felt in a similar position around processing the loss, there were a few days we thought I'd miscarried before I was diagnosed and then we found out it was ectopic. As soon as I found it was ectopic at the private clinic, i then went into survival mode as the next few days were arguments with hospitals etc. After that I was then focusing on the physical recovery. It's a lot for anyone to go through and can be a real rollercoaster. Look after yourself, don't force yourself to feel any particular way, we're all here with you as you go though this.

@littlepeaegg another rainbow baby? What wonderful news! Congratulations 🌈

Luan82 · 26/01/2021 22:36

@EmilyG1989 - I started to get pregnancy symptoms whilst waiting for a scan but that was very mild headaches and nausea I've not heard of anyone having a splitting headache / migraine before a rupture though the one month I conceived (the ectopic) I had an aura migraine just before what I thought was my period. The one symptom that you really need to watch for us shoulder tip pain, it's hard to describe the feeling but when you get it you'll know it - I started with it very mildly just before I was given meds and I guess that was a sign of either bleeding or fluid internally - I know it's hard but try not to fret too much if your numbers are low then it can be assessed as each day goes by xxx

HereIfYouNeedMe · 26/01/2021 22:41

@Luan82 thank you lovely, I called them and they said it was unrelated, I felt so dramatic haha. Blood tests in the morning so fingers crossed they're even lower 🤞🏼
Ugh it's horrible this whole situation, feel on edge waiting for pain and disappointed that I'll be really anxious TTC now 😞

HereIfYouNeedMe · 26/01/2021 22:41

@Luan82 sorry NC

Luan82 · 27/01/2021 07:58

@HereIfYouNeedMe - fingers crossed 🤞🏼 for you today honey, imho you may feel a little anxious at first (I know I did and I think that's normal!) but i can promise that the anxiety does get better as time goes by, and you can see from other people on here who do go on to conceive successfully that it's more common that next time the pregnancy is in the right place - good luck for today ! x

HereIfYouNeedMe · 27/01/2021 08:00

@Luan82 aw thank you lovely, I'll let you know how I get on. I think the fact I even have to worry about conceiving again is the hardest thing for me right now, I'm going to just focus on my health and getting back to normal then try my best to relax about TTC again xx

MrsB2019x · 27/01/2021 08:02

@Mumlili9 Sorry to hear you have both been so unwell. Hope you have a quick recovery

@Kate105 So exciting! You’ll have to let us know how you get on 😁

@Lililou You absolutely haven’t overreacted. I’ve never dealt with patient experience teams either but I imagine they would be quite sympathetic?

@HereIfYouNeedMe Good luck for your bloods today 🤞

HereIfYouNeedMe · 27/01/2021 08:03

Thank you @MrsB2019x 😘

HereIfYouNeedMe · 27/01/2021 18:24

Having the injection tomorrow evening, levels have gone up to 85 from 59... I really want to put this behind me now, hopefully it works.
Hope everyone is ok today! I'm still trying to catch up with both threads so I get to know all of your stories 😘

NigellasMicrowave · 27/01/2021 18:53

@HereIfYouNeedMe hopefully the injection will do what it is meant to. Do take care of yourself - it can knock it out of you. I pretty much stayed in bed until I had to go back for the day 4 blood test, and that suited me just fine.

In other news, I am still waiting for my period, 7 weeks on. I had a period (or I think I did) when my hcg levels dropped to zero, but it would be nice to know I’m back to my usual cycles. I can’t believe I actually want my period, how my mindset has changed!

MrsB2019x · 27/01/2021 19:52

@HereIfYouNeedMe Oh no how annoying! I had the injection and like @NigellasMicrowave said it can knock you for six with the fatigue - rest when you can, you will still sleep at night I can assure you 😂 had stomach aches too. I was negative within 2 weeks. Let us know how you get on x

HereIfYouNeedMe · 27/01/2021 20:20

@NigellasMicrowave @MrsB2019x thank you for letting me know! Don't know what to expect, it's a relief to know you got a negative after two weeks, gives me a time frame. How long ago was it for you? Sorry if you've said I'm still catching up!
I've seen online I'll need to take folic acid for 3 months before TTC again?

NigellasMicrowave · 27/01/2021 20:37

My levels were in the region of 1500 or so when I received the injection and it took me four weeks to drop to 7 (which they consider as good as zero). My levels also went up between days 4 and 7 but by day 14, they were crashing down. Apparently this is quite common, so don’t despair if yours go up too.

You’ll need to wait three months before TTC again. I was advised by the consultant to avoid folate rich foods whilst my levels were going down. My diet was appalling, I can tell you! However, it seemed to do the trick (or at least, let the medicine do its thing). I was CRAVING leafy greens by the time it was all over.

I’m 7 weeks out of the 12 weeks waiting to TTC again and it does get better. As the ladies here said, when the levels are at zero, it feels like an accomplishment and you can start looking more forward.

All I can do is to be as gentle with yourself as much as possible over the next couple of weeks. Some people bounce back after methotrexate- I certainly wasn’t one of them and it took me a fortnight before I could feel confident driving, for example, and then only for a short distance. After those two weeks my body began to feel a bit less taken over by it all and more like myself. It’s pretty potent but fingers crossed it does the job. Do make sure you call the EPU if you’re unsure and let us know how you’re getting on with it. It is rotten, all of it, but fingers crossed for you x

Lililou · 27/01/2021 22:25

@HereIfYouNeedMe sorry the results weren't what you were hoping for. I'm glad at least that you have a way forward now and they'll begin treating you. Take care of yourself and rest up. We're all here in the meantime to keep you company when you need it 🙂

Lililou · 27/01/2021 22:26

I have the call with the Parient Exeprience Team tomorrow to follow up on complaint. Arrggh, nervous. 😬 I'll let you know how it goes

Lililou · 27/01/2021 22:40

Also, seem to be getting period cramps tonight, could my period come this early? About 2.5 weeks after surgery?

Lililou · 27/01/2021 22:44

Or could it be ovulation? We're not trying again for 3 months as I couldn't deal with the thought of another possible ectopic so soon.

Sorry for multiple posts, one of those nights where I think of more questions/comments immediately after I press 'Post'

MrsB2019x · 27/01/2021 23:13

@HereIfYouNeedMe Mine was in April, my HCG was 501 when injected so hopefully yours will be shorter. Currently 11+5 weeks pregnant with our rainbow ☺️ Took 5 months to get pregnant again after waiting the recommended 3 months
