@ActonBell
I think after I came out of hospital it was around the 7 to 10 mark I just couldn’t stop crying. I knew it wasn’t my fault but I just felt like it was and I didn’t really want to talk to many people as people nice and caring would make me cry too. I just managed to come out of the otherside. I remember the first time I genuine laughed and it felt so good. I randomly cry now but nothing like it was. Big hug

A few ladies on here are expecting do you mind me asking how long it took you to conceive after your ectopic ? And if you had any procedure for example was it post surgery , HSG, IVF etc ? I'm starting to struggle now that we've been trying again for a few months and nothings happening xxx

MrsB2019x · 13/01/2021 08:38

@Luan82 I had my ectopic in April last year and we found out we were pregnant last month. We had to wait for 3 months after to try again, had no other procedures x

Luan82 · 13/01/2021 08:53

@MrsB2019x - thanks so much!! You were just a little bit before me I had my ectopic in June last year and had to wait three months it also took a lot of blood tests so november was the first month it was safe to try again - congrats!!! 🌈✨ x

DoctorBambino · 13/01/2021 09:02

Hi @luan82 I'm feeling very similar to you. Been trying for 5 months since ectopic and nothing. I requested my surgery notes from the hospital and found that I have a small area of endometriosis and some pelvic adhesions. Noone mentioned this to me and its not in any paperwork I was given.

I'm now with the fertility clinic at the hospital after raising this with my GP. I've had hormone checks and am awaiting a hyfosy to check my other tube. We had to have a semen analysis too before they would do the hyfosy. Everything so far has been fine. To be honest even if my tube is ok I think we are seriously considering IVF and going privately if needed.

@DoctorBambino - I can sympathise, it took sooooooooo long for my referral to go through from the doctor to the specialist - like 6 months! And inbetween that unfortunately I had my ectopic, I had a sneaking suspicion that there may be a problem because I find ovulation very painful which I know isn't necessarily normal. How are you finding the referral process considering the pandemic? Have you tried castor oil packs? My fertility massage therapist (honestly I've tried everything!) recommended them- she can't come to see me at the moment thanks to covid but she did recommend the packs and this is my first few days trying them- going to use them up until I OV this month x

DoctorBambino · 13/01/2021 12:04

@Luan82 thats interesting, pre-ectopic I always had lots of pain during ovulation (on opposite side to the ectopic). I've not been feeling anything since the surgery.. ovulating today in fact 😊 not heard of castor oil packs, will have a google!

I've actually been quite impressed with the speed of the hospital now I'm under the fertility team. They are making me wait until CD1 to book my hyfosy and I'm worried they might have stopped doing them by that point because of covid, but will just have to wait and see.

I've also just found out that a colleague is due baby number 2 in June. She was pregnant with baby 1 when I started ttc 😔 my ectopic pregnancy would also have been due in May. I have to keep reminding myself that other people being pregnant doesn't take away my chance haha!! It all feels so unfair!

@DoctorBambino absolutely! Feels like everything else is moving on around you and you're just stuck standing still! Now the referral is with the specialist team in Leeds it's quicker but it took so long for York to process it, pretty rubbish tbh - because the procedure is surgical I think it's a bigger risk- consultant was hopeful it would be end of January it's not likely now- they are telling me February/March. I've had a few scans and the first during the ectopic picked up a small cyst on each ovary. The latest scan I had showed no cysts at all - but I think they may all be symptoms linked to PID, it was the consultant who suggested endo, my periods are quite light and short so to me it all points to scarred / blocked tubes - good news is that she confirmed she can unblock tubes if the blockage isn't too bad and whilst she's there she will run a dye through to see if they are clear whilst removing any endo they can find too - I just can't wait to get some answers tbh! xx

Ivybutterfly · 13/01/2021 21:52

It took me 10 months. I lost my tube after I ruptured at 7 weeks. It felt like a lifetime. Xx

ActonBell · 13/01/2021 22:30

Did anyone experience insomnia after their ectopic? I’m in bed at 9/10 but I’m not dropping off until 2am most nights and the worst thing is that I don’t even feel like doing anything in that time. I can’t concentrate on a book or a tv show. It’s starting to drive me batty.

Luan82 · 14/01/2021 09:04

@Ivybutterfly I bet - did they check the other tube during surgery to ensure it was clear? did you wait a little after the surgery before trying again? This is the only issue with medication though you catch the pregnancy early you are no further forward in knowing what your tubes are like. So amazing that you're pregnant now though - congrats !!

Luan82 · 14/01/2021 09:07

@ActonBell - it's very strange cause though it wasn't really that long ago I can't remember !! I did sleep I the spare room a few nights tho - my partner struggled with the whole situation whilst I was inbetween going to the hospital for bloods every few days so some of that period was very hard and that affected my sleep patterns. You probably have a lot of questions and lots on your mind that often affects my sleep, I encourage you to talk about it ask any questions that you like to people that have experienced it and use the ectopic trust forum it's a great service - big hugs xxx

NigellasMicrowave · 14/01/2021 11:09

I was wondering what people had been told after their ectopics about what the cause would be? I was told by the junior doctor who treated me that they assume that there would be damage to the Fallopian tubes and this is what the Ectopic Pregnancy Trust’s website suggests. I’m struggling a bit to understand what this means and how this works with the success rate for subsequent pregnancies is so good. I’ve been told it was likely a one-off, but what does that mean if my tube is damaged? I was treated with methotrexate so perhaps that’s why some of my questions are unresolved.

DoctorBambino · 14/01/2021 11:22

@nigellasmicrowave I've never been given any explanation. I know they found some endo (although they didn't bother to share this) I think this can sometimes make tubes sticky. I did also once have what I thought was a kidney infection when I was much younger, I wonder now if it was pelvic inflammatory disease as they say that can cause scarring of the tubes. I dont know if anyone gets to actually find out? Would be interested to hear from others?

OP posts:
Luan82 · 14/01/2021 13:26

@NigellasMicrowave I'm the same - I've done tonnes and tonnes of research on it - could write a book! because the PUL was treated with meds quite early I never got round to finding out for sure it was ectopic and they could never see it on the scan either, although I had just started to experience shoulder tip pain when they administered the meds, because there is a lot they don't understand about reproductive health still (such as recurring miscarriages) and without the surgery to investigate they can't tell you a lot I'm afraid sometimes it is a fluke and the egg just happens to get stuck - I have been told that mexotrethate can clear a blockage so long as there aren't multiple, PID is one of the reasons I hear a lot and can enter your system a number of ways or endometriosis which can appear on the tubes and cause problems that way.

that90sgirl · 14/01/2021 18:56

@ActonBell I struggled with sleeping but I think mine was more to do with anxiety. I would go to bed and everything would be running through my mind. Do you think that's what's causing yours or is it just you can't get to sleep?
@NigellasMicrowave I was told by the Consultant that my tube was damaged in some way and that is the cause of the ectopic. I do think it is a bit poor that they don't investigate these things further and just tell you to try again when you're ready.

MrsB2019x · 14/01/2021 19:53

@NigellasMicrowave I was told nothing about a probable cause but I was treated with methotrexate too. When I had my 8 week scan they checked the tubes and said they looked clear but I don’t know how much detail an ultrasound gives on the tubes 🤷🏻‍♀️

coffeewithmilk · 15/01/2021 07:19

Hi everyone i thought I'd pop my head in as I didn't want to lose the thread.
Hope everyone is doing ok.
I haven't really caught up on what's been happening in the thread yet. I'm still off work following my rupture of my remaining tube in December. Due to go back in 2 weeks.

Hope everyone is doing ok especially with lockdown and not being able to see family.
Thinking of everyone. Also welcome to anyone new to the thread. I'm sorry you find yourselves here but it's a great support
❤️ x

Luan82 · 15/01/2021 08:28

@coffeewithmilk - so sorry to hear about your recent experience! I can imagine a rupture is very traumatic, it is lovely to speak to people that understand what we are going through though - TTC afterwards is harder than I anticipated and I do find that family, friends and partner - although supportive don't really understand the fear in both the positive and negative tests every month !! Without being able to go in for surgery atm I'm very much trying every single possible remedy for scarring and inflammation so am happy to give you all feedback if anything actually works ! 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼❤️❤️❤️🌈✨🙏🏼x

ActonBell · 15/01/2021 10:28

Hi all, I’m not sure what’s causing the sleeplessness. I don’t feel especially anxious at the moment, just really, really sad.

I’m 10 days post-op and I’m bleeding today. I’ve hardly had any bleeding since the surgery just the odd bit of very light spotting, so this has my head in a spin. This is normal though right? I guess I thought with the bleeding early on in the pregnancy that this part might be over. Is there anything I should watch for where I need to talk to the hospital again?

MrsB2019x · 15/01/2021 10:53

Lovely to see you @coffeewithmilk, have wondered how you are doing Flowers

lunacat14 · 15/01/2021 11:58

Hope everyone is ok today. It was my birthday yesterday and my friend just messaged saying she didn’t want to tell me but she’s just found out she is pregnant 😣 they have all known since the start of the week and kept it from me. I get the reason why but I feel like I’ve been robbed of the chance to be excited with everyone else and they’ve obviously all been discussing it behind my back whilst I’ve been none the wiser. So very upset 🥺

MrsB2019x · 15/01/2021 13:13

Oh @lunacat14 sorry you’re feeling upset Flowers I guess some people think they’re helping you and protecting you but doesn’t always work that way. Big hugs, and happy birthday for yesterday 🎉

Hlump1980 · 16/01/2021 12:02

Morning ladies
I hope you are all doing as well as you can. This is the first month that I am going to TTC. Did you do anything different ? I am seeing a nutritionist fertility specialist who will probably turn me into a spinach with the amount I have to eat . I really don’t mind as long as I get healthy baby. She has put me on zita west supplements and a friend sent me she oak . I am obviously not going to the alcohol etc. I was wondering if anybody could recommend any good fertility yoga. I am willing to give most things ago within reason. Anything would be appreciated x

Kate105 · 16/01/2021 14:35

Well how’s about this for a curveball! Just got a letter in the post from the hospital informing me that I am extremely clinically vulnerable because of the medication I’m on and so I should be shielding! Nearly crapped myself! I think it must be because I had methotrexate in September? They must have me down as still being on it rather than as a one off?! Going to have to phone them on Monday and get to the bottom of it...

In TTC news i am about 7DPO ish but I’m really not getting hopes up again. We DTD at the right time but I’ve been horribly anxious because of work and lockdown and everything, so pretty much the opposite of being relaxed!
