TTC after miscarriage - February 2020

Hi to anyone reading 👋🏻

This is a thread for anyone TTC / testing in February, after a miscarriage.

I’ll start off with intros! I’m 37 and my first pregnancy ended in miscarriage at 5 1/2 weeks in December. I TTC straight afterwards, but AF found me, so here I still am on this crazy, frustrating, rollercoaster of a journey!

I joined the January thread after my miscarriage and it’s been amazing to go there and chat to other women who know how you feel.

So for anyone joining this, I’m so so sorry you find yourself here, but you’re in good company ❤️

Michette · 16/01/2020 11:49

I will probably join the thread next week when AF shows :)

mlax · 16/01/2020 12:00

Just getting myself on this thread incase AF arrives at any point 🙄🙄

shhhhs · 16/01/2020 12:04

Miscarried last weekend at 8 weeks, still feeling incredibly hormonal but will be TTC as soon as the bleeding stops. Does anyone know if ovulation sticks work straight after miscarriage, or will they test positive anyway due to high hormone level from the pregnancy?

JeffV · 16/01/2020 12:58

Hi, please can I join in? I am going through an ectopic/miscarriage at the moment. It's been a tough 2 weeks. Things are very emotional and raw still as we have been trying for a quite a while. I have been told we cant ttc until after I've had a normal AF which I think means we can start again at the end of feb. It would be nice to have some company as it's been a scary and lonely time. I'm so worried it could happen again when we ttc but I also just want to be a mum so badly. So anxious, conflicted and tired all at the same time!

ChampooPapi · 16/01/2020 13:07

@Michette @mlax yes me too, I feel like February will be another trying month for me too. Only 3rd month in so I think anything before the 6 month Mark is a win really isn't it 🤲

@TerribleImagination thank you for starting another post miscarriage support thread, as a lesser mortal I fear the starting of threads and the general handling of them. Hats off to you, and of course explosions of baby dust to all ✨🌈

ChampooPapi · 16/01/2020 13:09

@shhhhs goodness I'm so sorry to hear that, you must be feeling so raw right now. I promise we are here for you all the way 💜

DisneyMummySince2010 · 16/01/2020 13:12

Thanks for setting up @TerribleImagination the jan thread has been such a huge source of support for me through January ❤️

TerribleImagination · 16/01/2020 13:34

Welcome @shhhhs and @JeffV ❤️ I’m so sorry you‘re both going through this 😢 We’re all here for you!

@ChampooPapi I didn’t think about the handling of a thread 🤔😂 What have I done?! Haha. Worth it to get to share this journey with you all!

Thank you OP! I'm sorry you are going through this as well Flowers

Hello, I miscarried in mid November at 5.5 weeks, caught straight away again (ie no period) and then miscarried again last week at 8 weeks (had a bleed and then no heartbeat on scan). Unfortunately medical management has not worked and I'm booked in to have a procedure tomorrow am very fortunate that this is covered on my private health insurance so I'm having a slightly fancier procedure than a d and c to make sure everything is ok taken out carefully.

I think I will physically be ready in February and DH is keen to in case that is the 'month with the good egg' but I must admit I'm not sure if I can do this again

Timeforanamechangeagain1 · 16/01/2020 13:49

Sorry to everyone else going through this, my heart is broken for us all

Sparkl · 16/01/2020 14:16

Hi ladies! I’ll join you on here too, this cycle would be expecting to test around 7th Feb although I’m so confused by last cycle that I don’t really know what’s going on!
Anyway time to start OV symptom spotting!

Have just started doing bbt charting hoping to understand a bit more what’s going on with my cycle. Anyone have any experience of it? So far I don’t think I’ve had an accurate reading from a combination of bad sleep and feeling poorly.

Thanks for the thread @TerribleImagination!

Sparkl · 16/01/2020 14:18

Flowers for all those recently joining, still can’t believe how many people are going through this

CurbsideProphet · 16/01/2020 14:59

Hello all (bit nervous 🙂) I had a v early miscarriage a fortnight ago. My body has felt so knocked about. Took a week for the nausea to wear off. I'm doing better in myself now. AF is due in 10 days or so, then back to ttc.

I haven't really told anyone. I don't want anyone else to tell me it's for the best / wasn't meant to be. I don't know why people say that.

TerribleImagination · 16/01/2020 15:02

@Timeforanamechangeagain1 You poor thing, sending love to you ❤️

Hi @Sparkl 👋🏻 I know, it’s so sad how many people have been through / are going through this. Isn’t it crazy how we don’t know just how many people this happens to, until it happens to us?!

Count me in. Miscarried at 10 weeks 6 days on 5th Jan, I have an appointment with scan next Monday. My HCG is almost 0 it is very very faint on the stripe. I planned to start trying after first AF, presumably happing around 2-5th Feb. but the wait is loooongg and I am so tempting if I ovulate now

shhhhs · 16/01/2020 18:50

Are people waiting until after AF at advice from midwife? My midwife told me to just crack on, she said the only benefit of waiting is more accurate prediction of dating, no issues with the actual pregnancy and no need to wait. In turns of miscarriage, I had a pretty simple one (if that's a thing?!) with very little follow up required. Maybe this is why she had no concerns about me not waiting.

rebeccacntu · 16/01/2020 18:54

@shhhhs it also depends on the weeks that ppl miscarried and whether it is natural or medically managed. The second day after my MC I went for a scan and was told I have thick ovary lining. Just want to make sure I have good thickness for new pregnancy I suppose. I am very reluctant to wait 🥺

shhhhs · 16/01/2020 19:33

@rebeccacntu the wait is killer 😭 so much waiting involved at every stage, it's just so frustrating. I know some people aren't ready to start trying again straight away but I feel like it would be easier to face the world again knowing we were at least trying to make it happen. Everyone is different I suppose.

I've not seen or spoken to anyone really since it all started on Friday but this weekend have to face all my friends in one hit as we're all out for my 30th, 3 of the friends are pregnant and thought is already freaking me out 😣

rebeccacntu · 16/01/2020 20:02

@shhhhs I am so sorry to hear I can really relate as I just turned my 30 as well. I have a friend (a couple) insisted on visiting me at my home tonight. They bought gift and want to pass it to me. I really don't know how to handle neither.

I have tried the OPK after miscarriage it is all over the place. I think I have high fertility just days after miscarriage yesterday peaked and today not fertile. I think it is the hormone change. How is your pregnancy test going? Has it turned negative yet xx

Leok83 · 16/01/2020 20:02

I’ll jump on here too, hopefully I’ll be either testing or at least ovulating by Feb after ERPC last week.

So sorry for all of your losses, so sad to see how many people this has happened to. I’ve been shocked since it happened how many friends have also gone through it and I never knew😢

@Sparkl I started BBT after 3rd month TTC and found it really good as I ovulate after the apps say I should so BBT confirmed I likely missed fertile period the 1st 2 cycles and on 3rd I conceived (and unfortunately MC).
Since last week started again, temps so far seem a good bit higher than preovulation temps on that cycle so will see how all over the place the MC puts the BBT this cycle.

Leok83 · 16/01/2020 20:15

@shhhhs I got conflicting advice at hospital, the midwife told me could try again as soon as ready, surgical SHO then said after the ERPC to wait for 2 cycles, when I said that conflicted with earlier advice she said at least wait 1, then the gynae consultant spoke with me and said only reason to wait was for dates and was ok to ttc straight away!! So I’ve decided what’ll be will be this month and if nothing happens will try again properly after af with opks etc (Still BBT more out of interst at mo). I’m guessing if you didn’t have surgical management should be fine to ttc straight away but obviously there’s a lot of differing opinions on it!!

Annie0425 · 16/01/2020 21:11

Hi Ladies,
I am going to jump on this one too. I am on the Jan thread, but we are planning to start TTC only after my 1st period after MC and I haven’t got it yet. Hopefully will get it by end of Jan and will be joining the Feb TTC club soon.
Sorry for all your losses ladies. It’s heartbreaking and don’t think we’ll ever fully get over it...but hearing all the stories and many positive outcomes is helping me stay hopeful and positive.
I am 38, TTC # 2. Had a MMC in December & ERPC on 18th Dec. Got BFN within 2 weeks. We decided to wait 1 cycle...so waiting for AF now 🤞
Thanks @TerribleImagination for creating this thread and good luck to everyone with your TTCs xx

TerribleImagination · 17/01/2020 07:25

Hi to everyone new who’s joined 👋🏻

@shhhhs As my miscarriage was early I didn’t have any medical intervention. I called EPAU and as far as I remember they did advise on when I could start trying again. My friend who’s a midwife said the only reason you’re sometimes told to wait one cycle is for dating purposes, so we just cracked on straight away! It didn’t work though, I got AF a couple of days ago 👎🏻 Just over 4 weeks after day 1 of the miscarriage starting, and the day I passed the sac.
