TTC after miscarriage - February 2020

Hi to anyone reading 👋🏻

This is a thread for anyone TTC / testing in February, after a miscarriage.

I’ll start off with intros! I’m 37 and my first pregnancy ended in miscarriage at 5 1/2 weeks in December. I TTC straight afterwards, but AF found me, so here I still am on this crazy, frustrating, rollercoaster of a journey!

I joined the January thread after my miscarriage and it’s been amazing to go there and chat to other women who know how you feel.

So for anyone joining this, I’m so so sorry you find yourself here, but you’re in good company ❤️

@Leok83 I know what you mean, I feel like an experiment too but totally unscientific one throwing 10 solutions at the problem at the same time. When I got pregnant before (successful and MC) I just went by CM and didn’t even DTD that much. I think I’m just doing all this to pass the time/make the waiting game easier!
The last two cycles opks have just confirmed CM so I might give those up next month if it’s obvious again this month. But also thinking it might be good to have proper records if I go to the doctor.

@Timeforanamechangeagain1 really hoping for earlier OV this month with supplements but I know it probably takes a few cycles in reality

Sparkl · 21/01/2020 09:21

@Southy84 sorry you find yourself here. I didn’t have medical management so don’t know what’s normal but it sounds stressful. Hope you’re ok Flowers

GoldenBauble · 21/01/2020 09:41

@Southy84 I had surgery and my bleeding seemed to stop after the first few days. Then 9/10 days post surgery it suddenly came back heavier than it had been before! It took me by surprise so I rang epu who told me it was normal to have intermittent bleeding and I continued to bleed (mostly fairly lightly) for 3 weeks.

But they did tell me to contact them if the bleeding remained heavy, if I had any bad cramps or passed large clots. I never experienced any cramping so I would say if you are worried definitely contact the hospital. I always found them to be really supportive and reassuring Thanks

Southy84 · 21/01/2020 09:58

Thank you @Sparkl it’s just not knowing what’s normal, although I know it’s different for everyone. It’s just in My head it was nearly over and then it got bad, just hard to know whether to worry or not.

Thanks so much for sharing your experience @GoldenBauble this is the heaviest it’s been, even heavier than the day of the surgery. I just had spotting up until last night. I may give the epu a call later if it doesn’t ease off, thank you

Timeforanamechangeagain1 · 21/01/2020 10:18

@Southy84 I also had d and c on Friday and I really stupidly thought that would mean the end of it, I thought I would bleed a little bit and it would be done but here I am, over two weeks now from my initial bleed which signalled something wrong and I am still bleeding. It is not heavy it's just still very red and I am desperately wanting it to turn brown. If you have any doubts you should get in touch and get yourself seen to. Hopefully we can recover from this and hopefully get our successful bfps one day and you don't want to risk that with a complication or infection

Annie0425 · 21/01/2020 10:44

Hi @southy84. My bleeding after erpc wasn’t too bad. I had minor bleeding for about 10 days but no cramps or pain. However I have heard that intermittent bleeding can happen and it’s normal. My doctor did say that I should call them if the bleeding gets heavy or painful or has a strong smell as it could be a sign of infection. I’d say call the doctor so that you can rule that out? The other thing could be in some instances there are retained products even after surgery. So better get it checked. Hopefully it’s nothing and it’ll stop soon..x

Leok83 · 21/01/2020 11:21

@Southy84 sorry you are going through this too. I had similar to what you are experiencing. I had sx on the Wednesday afternoon exactly 2 weeks ago now , had some light/medium bleeding that evening and then spotting only until Sunday with no cramps (so 4 days later). Started with light cramps the Sunday morning and they were quite severe Sunday night and kept me up they were so sore. Sunday night I passed a few larger clots and had fresh red bleeding for another 3 days but had gone back to quite light with a few small clots but the cramps persisted until last Thursday, since then I’ve had some intermittent mild cramps and just brown spotting (with some stringy brown bits..yuck!). I rang EPU the morning after I had started bleeding again and they said it was normal as long as not soaking through pads in leas than an hour and I felt well/not feverish and there was no smell. The not knowing if everything is def hard, I think ringing them EPU for piece of mind is worth it if you are concerned but it does sound pretty normal/similar to me at least!

Leok83 · 21/01/2020 11:24
  • if everything is normal is def hard! Sorry typos really bad there!!
Leok83 · 21/01/2020 11:27

@Sparkl I think you’ve hit the nail on the head for me..I think it just gives me something to do and focus on to stop the waiting driving me crazy!

rebeccacntu · 21/01/2020 11:41

Dear All,

Just want to share my experience so people in similar situation can relay.

I had natural complete miscarriage on 5th January (10 weeks + 6days).
The bleeding was on for 2 days, completely stopped the 3rd day and returned like normal period bleeding on the 4th day and completely stopped again on the 9th January.

I have been getting flashing clearblue smiley face from 19th and 20th January and the scan shows I am about to ovulate. However, I am going on long-distance travel and will wait for one menstrual period before I TTC again. I am expecting AF at 2-5th February.

seaduck · 21/01/2020 12:02

Another joiner here, I miscarried at 10wks last week, and stopped bleeding almost immediately. A scan confirmed everything was gone last Weds.
I want to throw myself back into it, hoping to catch ovulation this month, but have no idea when to expect it or when my period will be due. Just hoping for the best really.

shhhhs · 21/01/2020 12:51

@rebeccacntu that's good to know, I seem to be heading along the same sort of pattern, had high ovulation readings for the lash two days and dropping again today. The first high reading was 12 post miscarriage.

@seaduck, I feel the same as you and just wanted to start trying again immediately. I hope your ovulation comes quickly for you 🤞

Michette · 21/01/2020 21:11

@TerribleImagination AF is here!

Had no symptoms at all! Just started bleeding out of nowhere then came mild cramps.

But full blown AF here... will be a heavy one i think

I have a colposcopy booked for thursday but now i wonder how are they gonna do it!??

But yeah hope February is the month as DP was really sad today too....

Michette · 21/01/2020 21:12

@seaduck i was like you and ovulation came exactly 15 days after miscarrying.

So be prepared that’s all i can say.
Mine took me a bit by surprise!

Good luck

TerribleImagination · 21/01/2020 21:26

Aww @Michette I’m so so sorry. It’s the absolute worst isn’t it ❤️

@terrible it’s not great but i am really focusing now on February...
Will start opk in 10 days and i will just DTD more and hope for the best!

TerribleImagination · 21/01/2020 21:30

@Michette That’s great you’re thinking forward! I’m doing the same this month. Starting OPK’s tomorrow and making DP have early nights so he’s not too tired for all the DTD over the next week or so! 😆

Just hopping over from the January thread, as I imagine I'll be joining you all on here in a few days 👋

StephyRose · 22/01/2020 06:48

Hi ladies,

My best wishes to newcomers who themselves here, genuinely sorry for your loss. Flowers

I am here this month too after a MMC in November and a CP this week. Just feel pretty darn hopeless about keeping a baby to full term. Feeling like a failure 😥

StephyRose · 22/01/2020 06:49

Wishing everyone love and baby dust for the month of Feb 🌈👶🏼💗💙

Michette · 22/01/2020 07:07

@stephyrose sending hugs 🤗
Are you sure it’s a CP?
AF is here?

I see a few ladies from jan here (unfortunately)
@BS9790 @GoldenBauble @Sparkl
@mlax 👋

@TerribleImagination
That’s a good idea!! Good luck with the opks today :)

Anyone doing something different this cycle? Trying new things?

Also out of curiosity how long have you all been ttc?

It’s my first and including the MC as a month of trying February will be cycle 3

StephyRose · 22/01/2020 07:18

@Michette convinced it is CP darling due to fading pregnancy tests and the type of bleeding, it isn't like a normal AF. Have a doctors appointment this afternoon and have taken photos of blood (grim, I know) so maybe they will confirm.

This will be our first baby, cycle #3 after MMC and CP.

🤞🤞

StephyRose · 22/01/2020 07:20

Oh forgot to say...

Using OPKs for ovulation still and I used Concieve Plus lube last month, I seemed to have fallen PG so maybe it worked. But then again I did fall PG without it 🤣 Taking Sevens Seas Trying for a Baby Folic Acid tablets and Vital DHA Omega 3 supplements.

Not that any of it has been useful so far.

I need a face slap as I am so negative this morning! 🤣

Ejb86 · 22/01/2020 07:45

@Michette I'm trying for baby number 4. I miscarried (MMC) #2 & #3 twin girls at 16 weeks in September. January was my first month TTC since as it's taken so long for my body to get back to normal. AF has just been and gone so we're about ready to start DTD this cycle.
