Thanks Jamon/Jam - due 28 June.
I'd say it's worth a go if you're waiting for IVF anyway and they'll do it in your area.
For me, I have 0 side effects from the drugs. Injecting them is easy, almost entirely painless. It is a bit of a faff as you have to go to the hospital a lot to be scanned to monitor the developing follicles.
I went twice this week, next week I'll probably go Mon Tues Wed and then possibly do the IUI on Wed. They give you a trigger shot as well.
When they decide to do it, your OH needs to turn up to donate, they clean sample and inject it. I took the day off work last time and went and lay down. So it is a bit of a pain work wise. But you could take your laptop home if you needed to. They also check your blood one week after the IUI so you'll know if there's an issue with progesterone levels.
I guess the benefits are, big eggs, earlier in the cycle, more mature egg, thanks to the trigger shot you know you've ovulated, then the sperm are washed and injected straight into your civic via a catheter thing (doesn't hurt more than a smear test).
Less CCGs are doing them now, but I do know someone who an IUi worked for after 2 years of trying and she now has a 4 month old.
Let me know if you have any other questions!
