Thread 30, TTC #1 | Hilda hopefuls are still riding the shag wagon

Jamon · 06/06/2017 08:39

Calling all OPK-ers, Temp-ers, Clomid-ers, Femara-ers, IUI-ers, IVF-ers and anyone else on the TTC #1 Bus.

We've been going a while now so the novelty has well and truly worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area. We don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts, we just keep it legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX). We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face!

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share...

Key:
HS - have/had sex
GOS - good old shag
ELH - enthusiastic lavatory happenings
LSFX - legs spread, fingers crossed

Flashinthepan · 06/06/2017 09:04

Loving the new thread title and pics Jam.

Here's me:

Flash, 28.
Cycle 9 I think.
Ectopic just over a year ago.
Currently 11 dpo, wavering between Hilda Hopeful and thinking I'm just setting myself up for some major disappointment!

florafoxtrot · 06/06/2017 09:06

Thanks for the new thread Jam

My vital statistics as follows:
Age: 31
Cycle: 12
CD: 10
AF due 25.06.17

No hint of a BFP to date and Doctor investigations ongoing. Currently waiting for results of DH SA and I need to get a second lot of 21 day bloods. I also love a TTC initiative - this month I am drinking a glass of whole milk every day.

Forgot to take a CBD OPK this morning - oh the drama…. And my temperature was so low that I am concerned that my description of myself as a sex dragon is actually causing my metamorphosis into a reptile.

LoveRainbow02 · 06/06/2017 09:08

Gosh that other thread didn't take long to fill.

Rainbow here.
Ttc 2 years
Age - 24 tomorrow 😂
Miscarriage earlier this year.

Jamon thank you for your advice regarding my cycles. I'm going to make an app with my gp to bring this up.

Flashinthepan · 06/06/2017 09:14

For all the runners among us, last night I ran home, usual two miles, felt full of energy, went quite fast and felt fine. When I got home and stopped, I had low down cramps, not exactly like AF cramps, more like the kind of feeling you get if you suddenly need to go to the loo, went after a couple of minutes. Anyone get this any time? I freaked out a bit that if I am a tiny bit upduffed I might have upset it!

EMHW123 · 06/06/2017 09:14

Hey all is it ok if I join?

My stats:

Ttc#1
34 in a few weeks
Cycle #10
CD 5 I think.... I've had a really weird period this month

Never a hint of a bfp either. My initial bloods are fine.
Going full guns this month. Preseed, baby aspirin, supplements for oh, clearblue ovulation tests and a promise to shag every second day.

Let's see how it goes. 🙈

harrietm87 · 06/06/2017 09:14

Hello hello. harriet here.

I'm 30, ttc#1 (obvs).

Don't really know what cycle (6?) but I'm 3 miscarriages in. This is cycle 1 since being diagnosed with an autoimmune problem likely causing my mcs, so will be taking steroids from ovulation.

CD9 today and eagerly awaiting FW (like a fool).

Thanks jam as always!

bassetmum · 06/06/2017 09:17

Hi I'm Basset

Age 29
Cycle 11
Cd 2
Af due 3rd July

Never had a hint of a bfp and have not yet gone to the drs. Little bit worried to do so.

Loving the title and pics jam!!

I am with you flash wavering between hopefully and not. I am currently still dealing with awful cramps but hardly any flow this month. Its bizarre!!

harrietm87 · 06/06/2017 09:17

flash I'm a runner. Not sure I've ever had what you've described but running has made me vomit and given me the runs (no pun intended...) before so it can do funny things to your insides. If you are upduffed though it's so teeny tiny and so protected by the body that there's pretty much nothing you can do to harm it physically, so don't worry.

sk1pper · 06/06/2017 09:30

Age: 29
TTC #1
Cycle #23

Been trying nearly 2 years, this cycle I'm canning the supplements, preseed, baby aspirin, pineapple core, Clomid, raspberry leaf tea, opks etc. etc. and having a break from all this madness. PEACE

AlexiaB · 06/06/2017 09:36

Thanks for the new thread Jam. Bus ticket for 2nd July please.

Alexia
26
Cycle 26 😪
CD3

Last cycle on Femara then I'm taking a break from ttc until we're in a position to go private. I hope I'll be able to let go and find myself again because this is ruining my life.

Kathrino · 06/06/2017 09:46

Just checking in, will catch up properly (I hope!) later.

Kathrino
33
Cycle 18, CD 18 here so am just starting the TWW.

Nothing interesting to report - no BFPs in that time. DH has slightly low morphology but nothing major. Wavering about when is best to start IVF. Was going to be over the summer but DH is keen to wait until next year. We may compromise on October.

katiegd · 06/06/2017 10:15

Katie here.

TTC #1
Cycle 9 or 10, I think (over the course of about 18 months - stalled last year due to OH operation)

CD4
AF due 29th June

No sign of any BFP ever but I know I'm still probably technically within that 'normal' time period of a year. Will go to see doctor in 2-3 months if nothing.

Thanks for this thread - it's really helpful and supportive.

Pyjamas81 · 06/06/2017 10:56

Thanks for the new thread jam!

Here are my stats:

Age - 36
Cycle - 13 😴
CD 14 and 2dpo going just on opks
Last cycle before pushing the IVF button (eek), our pre-treatment consultation is this Thurs. IVF (short protocol) will start on or around 19th June
AF due - 19th June

Had tests done including HSG - DH totally fine, I'm fine other than low AMH for my age so will need higher dose of fertility drugs - what fun!

Scandalicity · 06/06/2017 12:19

Scandal
Age 27
Cycle 5 (ectopic on cycle 3)
CD 27
Due this Friday 9th

Thanks for the new thread jam! Sorry I was a tad quiet on the last thread - nothing much to report - had a few GOS this cycle but nothing timed to FW, so no crazy symptom spotting here, been quite nice actually Smile

KerryLeanne84 · 06/06/2017 12:36

Hilda's hopefuls - loving it!

I'm Kerry
Bout to turn 33
Cycle 19
CD6 (yay for starting on the 1st of the month!)
Second medicated IUI this month, so back to injecting every day. I went to see the consultant yesterday and he agreed to repeat my thyroid tests (which they did straight away) and put me on a low dose of thyroxine if my TSH is over 2.5. Also testing for thyroid antibodies.

He was VERY science about everything - he said there's no real trials or evidence that a short luteal phase is affecting my chances, but that he will give me progesterone support anyway after the IUI.

He was pretty straightforward generally, that the success rates for trying naturally after 24 months are very low (he quoted 3% a month), IUI is low (10% a go) and that the best chance for anyone is IVF - at my local clinic here it's 65% success rate.

Welcome back Alexia - big hugs. So sorry you've been having a tough time but super glad you're back. I'm so so sorry that your brother was in the midst of the London attack, that's just unbelievably terrifying. I hope he's okay. A friend of mine was nearby too with her kids and she's shaken up.

I'm so sad about the way your husband is being treated too and the stress it must be causing you. I have everything crossed that Labour will get in on Thurs and the future will be a lot more humane than the one the tories have planned for us. I think it will have a big impact on us all too, in terms of IVF funding. I fully expect it to be cut back everywhere if the tories get another mandate.

Jamon · 06/06/2017 13:20

Flash are you testing? Fx

Welcome EMHW
*
Harriet* do you have to inject the steroids?

Kath if you go with October we can be IVF pals as that's when our NHS treatment starts 🙂

Kerry your post made me wonder whether we should give IUI a go. How have you found the drugs / injecting?

Hi jam no I don't thank goodness - it's tablets (prednisolone) from ovulation for 10 days, then test with a FRER, if bfn then I stop them until the next cycle, otherwise take them plus progesterone ("bum bullets"!) for first 12 weeks. The side effects range from nothing to horrendous (weight gain, mania, insomnia, nausea etc) so I'm a bit nervous, but willing to try pretty much anything.

KerryLeanne84 · 06/06/2017 13:29

Thanks Jamon/Jam - due 28 June.

I'd say it's worth a go if you're waiting for IVF anyway and they'll do it in your area.

For me, I have 0 side effects from the drugs. Injecting them is easy, almost entirely painless. It is a bit of a faff as you have to go to the hospital a lot to be scanned to monitor the developing follicles.

I went twice this week, next week I'll probably go Mon Tues Wed and then possibly do the IUI on Wed. They give you a trigger shot as well.

When they decide to do it, your OH needs to turn up to donate, they clean sample and inject it. I took the day off work last time and went and lay down. So it is a bit of a pain work wise. But you could take your laptop home if you needed to. They also check your blood one week after the IUI so you'll know if there's an issue with progesterone levels.

I guess the benefits are, big eggs, earlier in the cycle, more mature egg, thanks to the trigger shot you know you've ovulated, then the sperm are washed and injected straight into your civic via a catheter thing (doesn't hurt more than a smear test).

Less CCGs are doing them now, but I do know someone who an IUi worked for after 2 years of trying and she now has a 4 month old.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

Flashinthepan · 06/06/2017 13:32

Jam I think tomorrow I will. Will be 12 dpo by then, with a FRER hopefully I'll get what I'm looking for. Or should I wait until the 9th? I need to test by then, as if it is a BFP, spending the weekend with family and its usually boozy so won't be able to hide it. Argh normally I'm desperate to test but I just want the hope to stay!

Flashinthepan · 06/06/2017 13:36

Also spat my tea out at "bum bullets" Harriet. Who knew this TTC lark wasn't going to be all wanton sex and endless rounds of bfps for all of us!

HepKestrel · 06/06/2017 15:34

hep
Officially the old bird of the group at 38.
ttc 18 months, one bfp/mc
still taking my folic acid, but am getting close to dropping out.

harrietm87 · 06/06/2017 15:49

Nooooooo hep. Please don't. Have you had tests etc? (Sorry I've lost track a bit). 38 is not old. I'm on another thread for people with the same autoimmune thing as me and the majority are in their 40s after years of losses and are now pregnant,

harrietm87 · 06/06/2017 15:49

Lol flash it's so sexy isn't it?! How do you take your progesterone?
