Thread 30, TTC #1 | Hilda hopefuls are still riding the shag wagon

Calling all OPK-ers, Temp-ers, Clomid-ers, Femara-ers, IUI-ers, IVF-ers and anyone else on the TTC #1 Bus.

We've been going a while now so the novelty has well and truly worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area. We don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts, we just keep it legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX). We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face!

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share...

Key:
HS - have/had sex
GOS - good old shag
ELH - enthusiastic lavatory happenings
LSFX - legs spread, fingers crossed

Is it a new job skipper? That's a really shit position to put you in. I'm at a bit of a loss I guess all you can do is keep harassing them until they sort it?

I've been a day late before it wouldn't unheard of. I just feel off, I can't explain. I'm also so scared it's all in my head.

Pyjamas that woman sounds amazing very glad it went so well x

Just read on another thread that clomid can make you late - so perhaps that's what's going on. It could be making me feel off colour too. Bum

skipper I just did the DSE Assessment today at work- you know about making sure you have chair and screen in right place - anyway in that part of it all is making sure yoh have right tools to do job as not having those can cause stress.
I am sure you have done this already but if not may be worth detailing the measures you have taken in an email to get off on right foot to new boss - surely they can then escalate?

jam try and enjoy the festival. Love your new mantra.

Aneta553 · 21/07/2017 19:46

Thank you everyone! :D

QuietTime · 21/07/2017 20:06

Hey skip - hope the weekend gives you a break; like kwick says, putting down the things you've dine in writing can help (even if you hold of sending, at least it might help give you some peace of mind)

Have you had a think about other things you could do without the software? Then at least you're making efforts to be productive.

I always try to tell myself it's never as bad as I imagine; really hope you can clear your head; work stress is the worst xx

QuietTime · 21/07/2017 20:07

you've done* :)

sk1pper · 21/07/2017 22:07

Thank you girls, that all really, really helped. I think writing it down is an excellent idea - I'll do it first thing Monday and try and get on with what I can until my manager is back.

Jam - Clomid can definitely make you late. I came off it the month of my wedding because I knew it had been delaying my ovulation the previous 2 cycles. I wanted the period to be at its usual time and not later and I managed to achieve that. That doesn't mean everyone experiences that scenario though, the only reason I even googled it was because I'd been late for two cycles and I'm never normally late. Have you done OPKs this cycle at all?

Jamon · 21/07/2017 23:14

Skipper I did OPK and got a positive at the exact time I always do. I also had all the ovary pain that day so I'm sure ovulation was at the right time.

Am I right in thinking it makes your cycle longer by making you ovulate late? /clutches at straws

Flora I think you were right about testing being less painful than symptom spotting. Although I have a feeling it would have been bfn and I think my addled brain would still have been clutching.

To be honest I think I'm probably out but clomid is fucking with me and really I just want to get AF over with.

Oh jam what a way to mess with your head. Not out til you're out, but hope you've got some distractions coming up to take your mind off the wait :s xx

sk1pper · 22/07/2017 07:57

Jam - it delays ovulation, it doesn't mess with your luteal phase. Mate, I would test tomorrow if it hasn't shown by then xxx

HepKestrel · 22/07/2017 08:17

flash I'm also coming down with the lurgy. Am about halfway through the tww, so naturally getting my hopes up too high.

Currently in bed with GrumpyOldCat sitting on my shoulder trying to bite my face...... Think his thyroid levels are going out if whack again..... He is trying to convince me he his starving despite being fed twice this morning already. Sigh.

HepKestrel · 22/07/2017 08:18

Happy Saturday all, hope the sun is shining where you are. Go out and enjoy it Smile

Jamon · 22/07/2017 08:27

Hi everyone. I took a break from this thread for a while but missed you all too much!

I spoke to my consultant about my long cycles/late ovulation and the fact my DH is away for massive chunks of the summer and he prescribed me letrozole, aka femara (that @AlexiaB was taking - hope you are doing well alexia!). It works in a similar way to clomid in that it stimulates ovulation, though apparently the side effects are less bad (I was on the lowest dose and didn't have any). It's not meant to bring forward ovulation but it can do in some cases, so he thought it was worth a try for me.

I took it cd 3-7 and had a scan on cd11 to check my follicles. I had 25 on one ovary and 20 on the other!!! Apparently I have "multicystic" ovaries which is different from polycystic, and I don't have PCOS. Consultant didn't think it would really affect anything one way or the other which I'm slightly dubious about but anyway. Only one follicle was mature, which I couldn't believe as I don't normally ovulate until day 20/21, so it was 9 or 10 days earlier than normal. I had a trigger injection to make it mature and release within 36 hours, had lots of sex and now in the tww and taking my steroids. Not feeling very hopeful about this really as I can't quite believe the egg would actually have been ready, and also (obvs found more to worry about) we hadn't had sex in over a week before our first attempt (had been on a camping holiday with friends so no opportunity) so poor DH's sperm will have been old, and then there was less than 24 hrs between the next couple of tries so won't have had time to regenerate properly! I also feel a bit wary about so many interventions, when previously I've been able to conceive easily (although obviously can't hold on to them). Anyway, will wait and see. Sorry for long essay but thought the process might be interesting for some - it's called superovulation as it's induced ovulation when you ovulate already.

Haven't quite caught up yet but jam my fingers are so crossed for you!!!! Will be thinking of you.

Welcome back skipper and congrats on your wedding!

So sorry pyjamas and hope you're doing ok now.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend.

harrietm87 · 22/07/2017 08:39

Oh no jam was typing my epic long message and didn't see your post. I'm so so sorry.

sk1pper · 22/07/2017 09:03

Sorry Jam 😞 xx

Jamon · 22/07/2017 09:19

It's alright I'm not altogether surprised. It's a month until our IVF kick off appointment so I'm focusing on that, plus being mentally and physically well. It'll happen at some point and then life will change completely so we should make the most of life now and doing all the things we won't be able to do when we have babies! Xx

Flashinthepan · 22/07/2017 09:39

jam really sorry but your positivity is amazing on cd1!

I think I'll be joining you tomorrow. Had cramps and some red this morning. Boobs still sore but less so. Tis only a matter of time I think.

Hep happy Saturday to you too! Rain with us unfortunately. It's ok to be hopeful. I thought the lurgy was a good sign for me but I think I'm out. Although if the cat isn't normally.obsessed with you that could be a good sign!

Hi Harriet! Sounds like you've really thrown the kitchen sink at it this month. LSFX for you!

kwick · 22/07/2017 09:42

hep take care & get well soon Flowers

jamon I am so sorry. I have been checking in hoping you would report a BFP. What a fcuker. Flowers

florafoxtrot · 22/07/2017 10:38

I'm sorry Jam - made a mental note to read your post tmrw when she likely shows up for me. It's very positive. Happy Weekend ladies

sk1pper · 22/07/2017 11:20

Welcome back Harriet xx

Yeah Jam, you've hit the nail on the head there. I hope you still enjoy you weekend despite the wicked witch of the vag casting her horrible spell on you.

I've realised without even thinking I've stopped filling in my apps. I think I'll keep it that way.

Pyjamas81 · 22/07/2017 13:57

Am sorry jam - what is it about AF always holding out just long enough to taunt us with hope?! It's great to see how well you're handling it though. Your appointment will be here before you know it.

DH and I meeting friends for drinks later - feels so good to have our life back temporarily!
