Thread 30, TTC #1 | Hilda hopefuls are still riding the shag wagon

Calling all OPK-ers, Temp-ers, Clomid-ers, Femara-ers, IUI-ers, IVF-ers and anyone else on the TTC #1 Bus.

We've been going a while now so the novelty has well and truly worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area. We don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts, we just keep it legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX). We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face!

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share...

Key:
HS - have/had sex
GOS - good old shag
ELH - enthusiastic lavatory happenings
LSFX - legs spread, fingers crossed

Hi all

Age 34
Cycle 1!
Due AF 15th June

It's great to see so many people in the over 30's club! I've been worrying time is running out and it's now or never so it's so nice to see others I can share the journey with! Had loads of hormonal symptoms, mainly mega sore boobies! But only came off the pill 12th May, good luck everyone!

LoveRainbow02 · 07/06/2017 10:29

Flash I tested on Monday and got a bfn. Don't feel out of the ordinary either

WingingIt83 · 07/06/2017 10:34

Place marking. ...
.
WingingIt
Age 33
Cycle 16 but days away from 17.

Awaiting ultrasound after initial referral (they take 8 wks to send out appointment letter!!!). Follow up in august , don't really know what happens next.

Might be scanning the threads but not posting much as having a zen month. ... next FW coincides with our holiday so fully focused on chilling out.

Had an emotional few weeks ....my mum now knows as do my 4 best friends (2 of which are preggers ). They've been so supportive it's amazing. Mum has also said they'll help out financially with IVF privately if it comes to it.

KerryLeanne84 · 07/06/2017 10:40

So so sorry Flash. Hugs to you.

Flashinthepan · 07/06/2017 10:56

Thanks Kerry.

Harriet yes, I'm hopeful if there is something in there trying to snuggle in that a progesterone boost could help it on it's way.

Sorry Love. And sorry you're in cycle limbo.

Alexia I'm sorry you're feeling so low. Each milestone is punctuated by sadness isn't it? I had a little cry to DH this morning and said that every time there's a new cycle (or BFN at this point as AF hasn't arrived) it just feels like all the things I am looking forward to get further and further away. Hugs for you.

Flashinthepan · 07/06/2017 10:57

Winging sorry to hear you're struggling but great that you have so much RL support.

Also welcome Linz. Always good to have a new joiner!

AlexiaB · 07/06/2017 11:45

Flash yeh the milestones are a reminder of how much time has passed. Sorry you had a little cry, really hope it's better news tomorrow 🤞🏼

Thanks harriet ❤️

Hi 👋 and welcome Linz

Winging glad you were able to tell some people irl and that they've been very supportive, how lovely.

sk1pper · 07/06/2017 17:48

Jam - yep opks are your friend! I'm torn between doing opks or not this cycle, it would be really useful to have an idea of my likely period date for the wedding but also kinda want to freestyle it this month.

Rainbow - I think the only way to 100% confirm ovulation is with a blood test but a positive on an opk means you have had the LH surge which is a good indication to say you have.

Flash - Oooh Flash this is so exciting, I'm excited about Friday for you.

Alexia - Your situation sounds so tough but I always say honesty is the best way. I know its probably really tough writing down the reasons why you don't have kids yet but they will probably appreciate the transparency of your explanation, who knows - it might even help? I hope you have some good news soon, even if it is just on the visa front.

Winging - Yay to your zen month, I'm having one too but unfortunately this forum is like emotional crack for me and I can't stay away.

WingingIt83 · 07/06/2017 18:19

Sk1p yes it's hard. ..I just go on the mobile website rather than app and find that if I ignore a notification email about new posts then they stop sending them to me. That then helps as i'm not being prompted multiple times a day.

Jamon · 07/06/2017 18:36

Alexia your post made me Sad I know you don't feel like celebrating but 6 years of marriage is an achievement and your bond sounds so strong despite what you're going through. I think that deserves a celebration of sorts xx

Welcome Linz

That's lovely you have such good support winging both financial and emotional

Yes flash that's exactly it. The goalposts just keep moving back Sad

Skipper I guess for me it's the toss up between feeling stressed if I haven't done OPKs. On balance I think I'm more zen when I've seen a positive and know I've surged. And oh god yes to MN emotional crack.

OP posts:
Flashinthepan · 07/06/2017 20:05

Oh it's just so bloody stressful it's making me feel knackered. Can I realistically go to bed at 8 pm?

harrietm87 · 07/06/2017 20:43

Go for it flash! I'm in work (as aaaaallllllways) and struggling to keep my eyes open!

I've started doing fitness blender workouts from YouTube in the mornings and think it's probably too much! (They are great though)

Flashinthepan · 07/06/2017 20:46

What line of work are you in Harriet?

Pugmummy87 · 07/06/2017 20:55

Looks like cd1 here. Ffs. That's 2 cycles in a row with an 11 day lp. Hope this isn't something else to add on top.

Also put on 3.5lbs tonight at fat club. Sighhhhh.

alexia I'm so sorry you are going through such a tough time at the moment. I hope you will be able to sort everything out.

Winging it's good sometimes to let a few people know so you have that emotional support available if needed.

Welcome linz

binky I'm trying to justify the price of the retreat to myself, thinking of just booking it on my credit card and going.

Has anyone been to a private endocrinologist before? I keep thinking about my tsh levels which were 3.5 which is normal for nhs but everything I read says below 2 for ttc. Wondering if that's causing some issues. I do feel shattered all the time, can easily fall asleep anytime of day.

sk1pper · 07/06/2017 21:14

So I'm a bit of a tomboy, and I've had to buy more clutch bags in the last 2 weeks than I would ever care to in my lifetime. These bags will see the light of day once and then sob in the bottom of my wardrobe until the moths or cat eat them. Really wish there weren't so many weddings this month...

OH jokingly told me I could wear my "favourite" blue dress. It's the only dress I own that isn't white. Although I'm starting to think that as this is the second third wedding I've been to in it...I should probably have had it steam cleaned, or something. I don't really know. I've never steam cleaned anything. Not sure how they work and not sure I want to know.

Also I had to buy gold shoes to match the gold stars on the dress. Gold shoes. GOLD. The only other time I'll ever wear these is if I go on a heist. If I manage to not step in any cake and/or piss, I might be able to return them and pretend they didn't fit.

Anyway, sorry this isn't related to TTC - just venting my frustration about all the money I've had to spend. Good job I haven't got a baby really, I dread to think what ridiculous miniature outfit I'd have to pay out for.

WingingIt83 · 07/06/2017 21:50

Gahhhh think AF is arriving on the evening of DH's birthday Sad Wasn't expecting it until Friday, only 9 day LP again despite taking b100 Angry

Flashinthepan · 07/06/2017 21:50

Oh Skipper what a pain. I love buying clothes so I'm the opposite, but I resent feeling obligated to buy things for events that I wouldn't normally buy. Do you have to have all the bags? Or could you take some back and get a great neutral bag to go with the blue dress? This would also work with gold shoes and can just recyle the outfit for the different stuff.

Flashinthepan · 07/06/2017 21:52

Oh winging. Hugs for you and Wine or Brew depending in your preference.

Flashinthepan · 07/06/2017 22:15

For your amusement ladies. I got line eye earlier from squinting again at this morning's obviously negative FRER so decided to see if my nipples could confirm it for me. I decided that they might possibly look a bit browner. I then wished I'd taken a before photo of my nipples for comparison. What the fuck has happened to my life. I swear I used to be normal. In real life you'd have no idea I'd gone totally mental.

sk1pper · 07/06/2017 22:42

Sorry Winging Flowers hope it's not as you fear...

Flash - I thinking posting before and after pics of your nipples for us to compare would take this thread to a whole new level of crazy. But I would quite happily do that for you if you decide this is the route you want to take. We could even get some of those dulux colour pallette cards and compare the tones. Can you imagine 😂

Flashinthepan · 07/06/2017 22:45

Haha! Oh god, that would be just the most mental! Although who knows, one of us may be driven to such desperation at some point. It's nice to know you'd be willing to go to those lengths for my crazy symptom spotting. Grin

Jamon · 07/06/2017 22:57

Harriet I hope you are now home in bed! Fitness blender???

Big hugs pug sorry lovely. Stuff fat club it's probably water retention. I'm afraid I don't know much about TSH so can't help you there

Weddings are SO expensive aren't they skipper Shock we've got four this teas and I've just shelled out £400 for the first hen do alone. Nightmare.

Lol 😆 😂 nipple chat. I properly stare at mine with fury at end of my cycle!

Had a very emotional convo with DH not ideal but we had a GOS so on track

OP posts:
harrietm87 · 07/06/2017 23:50

jam thanks yes I am - just! Fitness blender is great - they have loads of videos so you can mix and match what exercises you want to do!

flash I'm a solicitor. I hate it! lol at the nipple scrutiny. I'm with skipper - colour cards at the ready!

otters2017 · 08/06/2017 07:17

Morning ladies. It's cd5 so feeling quite good. AF was really short this month - a bit worried that the clomid has massively thinned my lining! I'm going for a scan next week to check and to see if there are by follicles growing.

flash hoping it's just too early to test and you're still in with a chance. Comparing nipples will take this to a whole new level of crazy but when you're been TTC for a while nothing seems crazy anymore if that makes sense

alexia sorry you're having such a hard time. Milestones are so difficult. I found it hard last wedding anniversary when I thought I'd be pregnant. Sorry to be nosey and obviously you don't have to answer but what visa are you applying for? Best of luck with the application

binky good news about DH SA result. Hope you get your referral quickly.

wingingit good idea about zen month and so glad you're getting good support irl

sk1p when's the wedding? I know what you mean about the expense of attending weddings. Gold shoes sound fab but maybe a neutral one which you can recycle for another outfit? We have 3 this year , had 3 last year and a baby shower!

jam well done on the GOS front!

pug sorry AF got you. No experience of private endocrinologist. I need to ask my GP what my tsh levels are. I was told normal but I don't know the actual numbers

sk1pper · 08/06/2017 07:33

Hmm I didn't think about neutral colours. Like I said, complete tomboy. My wedding is June 26th but we have two to attend before that and two to attend after within a month of each other.
