Currently harbouring a 6 week kwicklet - after 9 "tries" and one very sad MC.
I am 42 years old, suffer from PCOS and have only one ovary - so please do not be discouraged it is possible!!!
I started my TTC journey in 2015:

My FC is CRGH and I have used both Cryos and Xytex for magic potion supplies. Both my BFPs came from the same Xytex donor.

shoes so theres lots of buses and cycle paths in MK, and theres multiple trains to london that take 35mins. I'll get her a bike and a bus pass!

and I know many who live in MK and used or do use an au pair. but that being said, I wouldn't only use an au pair. if they go home, or it doesn't work out and you have to let them go, i would want back up!!

38, single, started my journey last year, with a long protocol IVF round, using a donor from my clinic (Care Northampton).

IVF didn't work, alas. Excellent egg harvest, good embryo implanted, but the transfer just didn't take, so starting again in March with a short protocol - fingers crossed.

Stork forgive my ignorance - what is the difference between a short and long protocol?

kwick, not at all!
so there are a million extra variables that can be added to each protocol the main differences are that in the long protocol you have two clear stages – down regulating and stimulating, in the short protocol you usually go straight to the stimulation stage. so duration wise long = 6wks ish, short = 3.5wks ish.
Essentially fewer drugs, quicker treatment cycle, shown to improve egg quality if that was an issue with the long protocol.

Hahaha didn't mean to start such a huge discussion on one night stands! I'm very happy to be trying on my own having been through too many failed relationships. Yes, meeting someone would be nice but I'd rather focus on me now. Too much of my life has been spent trying to please others.

Sounds like you have all put a lot of thought into child care. I wish I could reduce my hours or work from home but not possible in my profession. Plus, I will have times when I am on call and will have to sort out what I will do there.

First things first though. Just had an Lh surge so about 12 days until a new cycle. Glad my body is working after my miscarriage.

Oh. I'm 37, single, doing medicated iui with donor sperm. I had a bfp my first try a year ago that ended with a mmc at 10 weeks. Roller coaster after than with over stimulation, bfn, having to switch clinics, losing two dogs, bfp and early miscarriage. Roll on 2017.....fingers crossed. Oh, -and I live in Canada.

I'm 38, single, have had four unmedicated IUIs (one incomplete) and should start ICSI in March.

I've also just worked out how much/little I'll get for maternity pay, which is really rather terrifying as it will be a sole source of income...

Late set it before I had finished! How much do you get full pay, in terms of weeks?

Late - I'm in the same situation re maternity pay (and I'll only get Statutory - so after six weeks my only income will be around £600 a month until I start working a bit again). The SMP is basically enough to cover my mortgage, council tax and gas & electricity. I also have no savings whatsoever and a credit card to clear before the baby turns up.

Once I go on maternity leave I will go to Citizens Advice to see if there are any benefits I'm eligible for. I'm not proud and if there is help available from the state I will gladly take it just until I'm in a position to work again.

Its a financially very vulnerable situation. My only backup is that my house has around £100k equity in it so if worst comes to worst I'll have to sell my house and move up north (where I grew up) where I could be mortgage free but that really is a last resort. I figure I'll muddle through, probably building up a little bit of debt in the meantime but once my child is at school I'll gradually sort things out.

March 16 IUI 2: BFP - mmc at 11 weeks
July 16 IUI 3: BFP - chemical pregnancy
Diagnosed with blood clotting issues that probably caused the losses
August 16 IUI 4: BFP - currently 24 weeks' pregnant but its a high-risk pregnancy

I just get SMP - six weeks at 90% and the rest at £139.58... I am also a local councillor and I am not sure about maternity leave for that and whether I'll get my allowance. I'm hoping that I can keep that element up while on maternity leave (at least after the first couple of months).

shoes 24 weeks already! That has gone so quickly.

I do have some savings, I am lucky that I live in a relatively inexpensive area (the north west) and my mortgage isn't high. I haven't calculated how much time I can afford to take off if the ICSI works, but I would really like to take the full year. I am going to concentrate on building up a little bit more in my savings so that if I am lucky enough and it works out I have a bit of a cushion.

Gosh I'm struggling to keep track with you today! Funny to see how responsible our conversations have been since yesterday - ONS and mat leave!
I think I'm lucky enough to get 4 months full pay and then statutory. But I plan to go back after 6 anyway (in France, where I'm from, women are only entitled to take 2 months before due date and 2 months after so I guess 6 months looks good enough to me )

I've a couple of friends staying over so that will hopefully offer some distraction! And I'll keep on working on my extension drawings on Sunday, this is the only thing that seems to work...

TBH I'm trying super hard not to symptom spot as I'm taking the utrogestan pessaries and I would imagine any symptom would come from that at this stage.
All I have for the moment is some cramping and twinging around the uterus but I'm pretty sure I'm inventing this!!

I don't sleep as well as I normally do since the IUI. These past 4 days I've been waking up at 5am every morning so I haven't been able to temp at all. This is a very odd pattern for me, I normally sleep through the night.

And I've firmly decided to wait until Wednesday to test (12DPIUI)!!

I've been lurking for a while but thought I'd finally join. I've already learnt lots from just reading everyone else's journeys so thank you.

1st IUI in February at harley street fertility clinic (unmedicated)

If anyone has any tips for the last month they would be greatly appreciated. I have already given up caffeine and alcohol, taking vitamins and trying to eat my five a day!

Welcome cherry. Try to have things to think about other than your cycle. It can be a bit all consuming. I like meditations that help me relax. Also try to get a walk in when you can. I hope you enjoy this journey!

Welcome Cherry. I don't really have any tips in regards to the technicalities (the other ladies will be more helpful with this!) as I haven't experienced it myself. However, to stop you going stir crazy, I echo what Karen said. It can become consuming so try to think of other things... Walking is a good past time, I've found - actually, any exercise. As is creative things like cross stitching, card making, etc etc. It just helps pass the time and you get something out of it in the end. I'm probably talking rubbish but it's what helps me

Sooooo.... my auntie thinks I should tell my mum that I'm doing this-even composed a letter for me to send.... I don't get on very well with my mum and just feel she will be a negative force in an already really difficult thing to do. Does that sound unreasonable? I'll quite happily tell her when had 1st scan and how it all happened but I just can't do it but it's upset me a bit that she even suggested I do it as she knows exactly why I haven't said anything!!!

Ok to back to relevant questions the clinic wants me to do medicated iui which totally on board with but what I wanted to know from you lovely ladies as can't get an appointment with nurses yet 🙄 But when do u normally start the injections-is it CD1?- I'm trying to plan annual leave for begining of may so can go in for any appointments I need without work having to know-he said I would be on injections for 10days then do a trigger injection but I wasn't sure whether as I say these start on CD1 or a few days later?thankies lovely ladies xx

Pickle - tricky one! I think that if you feel that your mum is very likely to be negative about your plans then I wouldn't tell her until you are pregnant. Why cause stress for yourself at this stage? In my experience people tend to react positively to pregnancy announcements regardless of how the pregnancy came about because as long as you are happy to be pregnant how you got there becomes irrelevant.

How often do you see her?

I think I started meds on day 3 - but let me check. Hang on!

shoes that's how I feel, she freaked when I got my garden re-done, when I brought my first house, when I brought my first flat first of all....and very negative about it all and each time I've done it by myself (altho they did know I was doing these things!) and I made it work and saved hard, the world didn't fall apart when I did these things. I see her maybe every other month, speak to her by phone once every 1-2 weeks. I often look about 5months preg when my tummy swells from ibs so people are used to me looking preg (or fat) & would never expect I was actually preg.
We won't know any different doing it alone as we have never done it with a partner so from day 1 we will have a different experience to "normal" families-also won't be let down by people not doing what we want the man to do I.e know the changing bag needs stocking or run the bath without us telling them like my friends always expected their hubbys to do but got annoyed when they didn't take the initiative
