TTC first baby

Hello all! DH and I are TTC our first baby, I'm 31, he's 32. We've only been trying for a month so it is extremely early days but I'm so excited at the prospect.

DH may have some fertility issues (picked up on a scan) but I was pretty convinced it was going to be a BFP straight away as I had so many symptoms - but that shows how much I know! Blush

Is anyone else TTC their first baby? Please join and keep me company!!

Hello,
I'm ttc my first child too, I am 26 and dh is 28, we have been trying a year now :( I thought it would only take a few months and I cannot believe I'm not pregnant yet! on the plus side I have some day 21 blood tests booked in so I feel like I'm taking a step in the right direction!

Good luck in your journey and I really hope you get you BFP really soon :) x

bugoven · 27/04/2012 12:31

Heya. TTC for just over 6 months. I'm 28 and DP is 26.
Currently on CD36 but pretty sure I've stressed myself into erratic cycles. Hopeful for a 2013 baby and trying to relax but failing.
Will start asking for tests after my 29th birthday in Nov if we don't get there by then. All my friends seem to find conceiving easy but guess I should be patient and know that I will be all the nore grateful for my family when it happens.
Good luck to us all!!

Happilymarried155 · 27/04/2012 13:00

I know what you mean, iv had 7 friends concieve whilst we have been trying-so hard sometimes! Everyone says to relax it will happen but it's easier said than done when your in that situation! X

cwtching · 27/04/2012 13:44

Hello both!

Happilymarried, I'm sorry things are taking their time; it must be really frustrating but it sounds like you are doing all the right things. It' so unfair that some people have to try for such a long time and for others things happen straight away. Keeping my fingers crossed that your tests go well! Keep us updated x

bugoven - I made a pact with DH before we started trying that we'd be so relaxed about the whole thing, not think about it too much and just see what happens. It's only been a month or so and I've failed on that big time already - oops! x

Made exactly the same agreement and of course both of us have failed at that. I had regular cycles before and when I went 40ish days (wasn't tracking because we were so "relaxed") we thought we'd made it first time. Also just moved/redecorating/sorting finances with exes so shouldn't be surprised we're not successful at the moment really. Once we're enjoying our new home and relaxing sure we'll be fine Smile

Sticklebricksuk · 27/04/2012 15:54

Can I join? I'm 30, DH is 36. We're TTC our much wanted first baby, and I'm just nearing the end of cycle 5 (I say cycle rather than month as my cycles have been quite erratic since coming off the pill at the beginning of November). I also naively thought it would have happened by now but am trying to keep positive about it all.

cwtching · 27/04/2012 17:20

Hiya Sticklebrick :) welcome!

We all need a magic wand I think! All of those warnings of how easy it could be to conceive (when I wasn't ready to), and all those resultant years of being careful not to conceive have lulled me into a bit of a false feeling that it will all be so easy and straight forward and I'm a bit worried now re our chances after DH's scan. AF not due now until 18 May so we shall see!

Ho hum! Lets all have a Brew and a Biscuit or actually a Wine while we know we can!

Good luck with all the redecorating etc. bugoven :) I moved house back in December and still haven't found homes for everything (mostly due to the tiny nature of our house but also because DH always manages to find better things to do than sort through his things - ah the joys of newly married life!)

bugoven · 27/04/2012 18:02

I am in some sort of pregnancy/waiting for AF limbo (several BFNs since a week ago but still no AF) so can't drink but definitely can have a cuppa and a cereal bar or two Smile

Pipbin · 27/04/2012 20:46

Hi, can I join too?

I'm 37 and DH is soon to be 39. We've been trying for a year now.
I know this is going to sound uncaring but I do get a bit miffed with the woman who already have couple of children complaining they are finding it tricky this time. I just want one.

bugoven · 27/04/2012 20:58

Hi Pipbin! Think we're on a couple of the same threads.
I know what you mean but (trying to be diplomatic) I suppose the desire to complete your family could be as great as the need to start one. I hate the idea of not being able to give an only child a sibling and make a whole family. Saying that I saw a documentary where a woman found out the 5th kid she was having would be her 5th boy and went into a depression and was so disappointed. That really upset me.

Littlemissimpatient · 27/04/2012 22:05

Hi everyone can I join?
I'm 27 and DH 30 we have been ttc 6 months I think had 2mc do pretty anxious and again I stupidly thought it would have happened by now.
Currently in my 2ww and symptom spotting like mad!

CaveMum · 27/04/2012 22:23

Do all come over and join the First Time Frolickers thread, we're all TTC our first child too Grin

cwtching · 30/04/2012 10:04

Hello Littlemissimpatient! Of course :) fingers crossed! X

Hi, can I join?
Im 27 hes 25, we decided to come off of the contraceptive patch and just see what happens, but like a lot of you ive got excited at the idea of it all. I think like cwtching, having been so careful not to conceve in the past i just took it that it would happen very soon. Maybe im just impatient!

winkle2 · 30/04/2012 16:13

I'll join!

There is a First Time Frolickers thread but it's HUGE and I get lost?

Me and hubs both 33, TTC baby number 1. Tried the relaxed method from Aug to Dec last year. Not even a whiff of a second line. So since Jan/Feb we've been 'Actively Trying'. So all in all its been 8ish months but we've only upped our game over the last 3. Still feels like aaaaggges!

Don't you hate people who say relax and it will happen?! grrrrrrr

bugoven · 30/04/2012 18:11

Hello again everyone.

winkle I really am trying to relax but on CD 38 and no sign of AF so couldn't be further from relaxed and trying makes it worse! Still no positive, going to try again tomorrow Smile

Christelle2207 · 30/04/2012 18:37

Hi all, we are both 33 and TTC for 1 yr now though only seriously for last 6 months, again finding the "keeping positive" tough going. Think I am close to ovulation this month so secretly hoping for BFP around my birthday on 16th which would be super great because other than a pregnancy I can't think of any thing else I want for my birthday....
bugoven fingers and toes crossed for you this month

bugoven · 30/04/2012 19:06

Thanks christelle. I have read I should have tested positive by now if I am pg but then I should have got AF by now of I'm not. There is also the chance that my cycle is getting increasing erratic due to the excitement (heartbreaking stress) of TTC and no idea if I'm ovulating regularly. I've also seen that some didn't test positive for months!!

winkle2 · 30/04/2012 19:43

Christelle - we are ttc1, both 33 and want a baby more than anything else too! :)

Pinkie29 · 30/04/2012 20:58

Hello Grin

We're ttc no 1 too! I'm 30 he's 29 on cycle no 3, currently cd 37 think I ovd on cd29 and since coming off the pill periods have been as long as 52 and short as 33!

pipbin with you on that one!!

littlemisspatient great user name just like me! I'm also somewhere in the 2ww/limbo! With my cycle being so unpredictable it's hard to know if I'm late or not! Too scared to test atm as dont want the disappointment of a bfn Sad

Seems we've all been led to believe getting pg is as easy as looking at a willy! We too are surrounded by friends and family who it 'just happened' most whilst on the pill... Really?! Haven't told anyone we're ttc as don't want constant questions 'why aren't you pregnant yet?!'

Sticklebricksuk · 01/05/2012 09:26

Hello everyone, just checking in!

Christelle I'm with you, I'm finding this tough going I have to admit, and yes Pinkie seems it doesn't just happen when you glance at a willy as I was also led to believe growing up. Damn it! And winkle - relax?!! Pffft, chance would be a fine thing!

I was really hoping it would have happened by now as my 2 best friends are just about to start trying for their second babies and I'm a bit worried about how I'll cope if they fall pregnant immediately again while we're still trying for our much wanted number one. Obviously I'll be delighted for them, but I know myself well enough to know that I'll probably need a little cry as well, so I hope if it does happen they tell me on the phone first so I can get over myself and then be happy for them.

Bugoven how are you getting on? My last couple of cycles were 39/40 days and I was testing like a mad thing, but the last one was a lovely 30 days, so I was quite relieved that they seem to be "normalising".

bugoven · 01/05/2012 09:39

Hi stickle, morning everyone.
Another BFN this morning. Now CD39 and no AF. On a more positive note I got a free "conception/pregnancy kit" from Asda last night. Includes a tiny nappy which is a bit much and made me cry but free book and baby wipes and folio acid not to be sniffed at Smile

Pinkie29 · 01/05/2012 11:58

bugoven we're in the same boat I'm cd38 too! Not sure if I'm late as last cycle was 43 and before that was 33 so don't want to jump the gun and get all excited! Only symptoms is big sore boobs which happens before af and the usual twinges :/

bugoven · 01/05/2012 12:45

pinkie I have no idea what my cycle is up to either. I have very very sore boobs and some nausea. I did have some spotting a few weeks ago so maybe that was an early messed up AF? Either way it's not over yet this cycle Smile

Pinkie29 · 01/05/2012 12:48

I've had no spotting at all so no implant bleed as yet although this isn't as common as ppl make out if you google it Smile I was quite emo last no other symptoms hff! Not over till the red which rears her ugly head tho am thinking positive!! Grin
