Hey guys!! Have taken the big step of coming of the Pill to TTC another DC. This will be DC number 2 - already have DS who is 15 months old and a DSD who is 7 years. We have spoken about another baby for a while now but it has now become more of a reality now that we have decided to stop using any contraception!! I am so so excited but know all too well about this horrible waiting game of patience which seems to get worse even after a BFP as then it's the painful wait for a 12 week scan!! (although this time I may pay for a private scan) I have had a MC before DS was born so am also aware of not getting to ahead of myself...but I'm so excited nonetheless!! I bought my friend a little present for her brand new (with tags on) baby girl and was so so broody. Cant wait for my turn now!!

Sorry for the long warbling post. This is such a hard time, the pre TTC, the waiting for BFP or BFN etc etc...I am the most impatient person in the world as it is...and to not to be able to tell anyone in RL makes it even harder!!

Hope there will be some ladies in the same boat as me!! Look forward to meeting u and sharing journeys!!

Lots of love, Pip xx

oh can I (hesitantly!) join?

I'm a total know nothing newbie but came off the pill almost a week ago, trying for number 1...

I know its probably going to take aaages so I'm trying not to get too excited, but I'm the same, can't really say anything in rl so it would be nice to have somewhere to get terrified/excited/obssessed!!

Anyway, hi! Grin

PipIsOutNow · 11/10/2011 18:36

hi cup !! lovely to meet u!! and of course u can join, the more the merrier!! we can be excited and nervous etc together!! xx

CupOfBrownJoy · 12/10/2011 12:38

Thanks pip - I became an Auntie for the first time this morning so I'm even more excited now!

We've been doing so much practising over the weekend that I gave myself another UTI Blush

PipIsOutNow · 12/10/2011 17:53

haha!! the practising is the best bit!! this is so so exciting!! when are u due to ovulate do u know? or when was the first day of your last period? mine is the 4th oct...xxx

OP posts:
CupOfBrownJoy · 12/10/2011 19:11

Well I stopped taking the pill last Thursday and came on on Saturday (8th) - does that count? In which case it'll be around the 22 Oct I think?

Which is perfect as I'm on half term that week (teacher) so we can do lots and lots of practising... Grin

I'm taking folic acid, what else are you doing/should I be doing? As this is the first I've no idea whether its going to take a fortnight or 5 years of trying before anything happens. Is there an "average"? I'm 33 and DP is 43 so should I presume its going to take a little while?

I'm trying not to hope for anything this side of Christmas tbh but obv I want it to be tomorrow!!

PipIsOutNow · 12/10/2011 19:30

omg no way!! what do u teach? I qualified as a primary teacher a year ago!! Ha me too, Im so so impatient. It could happen straight away or in months...I havent actually started taking folic acid yet but I did all through the early stages with my last pregnancy. Just look after yourself and dont stress!! What will be wll be. Fingers crossed for both of us!! we will only be a few days apart xx

CupOfBrownJoy · 12/10/2011 19:43

Such a coincidence - I teach year 2. They have been calling me Auntie Miss CupOfBrownJoy all day today and they were really excited about my new niece, wanted to see all the pictures. We even had a list of possible names on the blackboard Grin

Are you teaching at the moment?

How long did your first DC take to conceive? Does it have any bearing on how long dc2 might take?

Trying not to stress - I'm just excited and impatient really!

Vinolover · 12/10/2011 20:28

Can I join too please?
My Mirena was removed on friday and we're going to be trying for #3 :)
Im so excited and so nervous altogether!

CupOfBrownJoy · 12/10/2011 20:52

Welcome Vinolover! Come and be excited and nervous with us Smile

I'm so glad to have you more experienced people to answer all my dim questions (if you don't mind!)

I heard today that the optimum amount of swi is 3 times a week? Apparently any more than that affects sperm quality? Have you heard this too?

Wow 3 is brave. I'm one of 3 and its my optimum number, although given I'm only just trying for #1 I may well change my mind Smile

Vinolover · 13/10/2011 08:30

You will absolutely love it! I thought 2 was my final number tbh but the need for number 3 is getting stronger and stronger. I didn't think dh would ever agree to another but he knows how much it means to mean and I now can't remember feeling so happy :)
It's actually the opposite! It's thought the more you do it the better the sperm quality (not to mention the constant supply which can only be a good thing). I'm taking a b vitamin complex and zinc and hubbie is taking folic acid and zinc as this is thought to help the quality of the sperm and eggs.
Fingers crossed it happens soon for us but lets enjoy the trying ;)

Sarah5656 · 13/10/2011 12:46

Hi,
Can I join too please? Smile

We are currently trying for our 3rd ( first day of last period 4th Oct).
We already have a 6 year old DS and a 4 year old DD.

We unexpectedly got pregnant at the end of July but unfortunately it was an Ectopic pregnancy so I had to have an emergency op at the beginning of Aug. Sad

Although this baby wasn't planned it made us realise our family was not as complete as we thought!

We are now ready (although with a bit of hesitation that everything will be ok) to try again Smile

Good luck to everyone, sending lots of positive vibes to you all Grin

Vinolover · 13/10/2011 15:59

Im sorry to hear that Sarah :( I had a mc when dd was a year old (so 6 years ago) and because she was still so young (baby wasn't planned) we didn't try again. Its only been the last year where the urge for me to have another has been getting stronger and stronger which is why dh has agreed to try again.

I, like you am petrified of something going wrong, and also with me im hoping I can still get pregnant!

Fingers are firmly crossd for us all! Xx

CupOfBrownJoy · 13/10/2011 16:24

Yes, I'm crossing my fingers and pushing my thumbs (which is the equivalent here in Germany Smile)...

I'm very inexperienced compared to all you seasoned pro's... never been pg, never even really had a "scare" so of course now I'm convinced I'm actually infertile... receiving and sending all those positive vibes though from/to everyone Grin

I'd better look up the German translation for zinc, and add B vitamins to my shopping list.

Can ask a cheeky question, how old are you, Vino? Please feel free not to answer! I ask as a geriatric first timer of almost 34 Blush

Vinolover · 13/10/2011 22:07

Haha, I don't mind at all. I've just turned 29. (I had ds very young).
It certainly is worth getting some zinc inside you both. Im willing to try anything safe to give things a helping hand!

Im sure you will get your bfp quicker than you imagine!

Sarah5656 · 14/10/2011 18:10

Vinolover so sorry to hear about your MC, really understand what you have gone through Sad
You obviously understand the anxiety about becoming pregnant again.
We can hold each other's hand through this Grin
I'm 27 and had my first child at just 21.
How old are your two children?

Cupofbrownjoy- any questions you need to ask, how ever silly you think they might be, I will happily answer for you. I remember all too well how overwhelming it feels and the amount of questions you need answering!

Pip- having another child is fantastic especially all being well yours, like mine will be close in age Smile

Hope everyone's well, I'm currently sat curled up on the sofa with a stomach bug so no 'trying' tonight but will have to make up for it when feeling better Wink
Xxx

CupOfBrownJoy · 14/10/2011 21:06

Thanks Sarah, I have so many completely thick questions! The sister in my gp's surgery once put the phone down on me because I knew so little about ovulation and cycles... But then, until you need to know you live in blissful ignorance!

My thick question for today is; I'm on the last day of my period today. Do I presume I will ovulate 14 days after the first day of my period? How do I know exactly? I'm keeping a record so I can work out how long my cycle is. I don't even know Blush

Hope you feel better soon - I'm under the weather with a cold, but being a primary teacher I get every bug going!! Smile

Sarah5656 · 14/10/2011 21:55

To be honest I still do not understand the ovulation side of things! Blush

I just typed in google ovulation calculator and typed in the first day of my last period (4th Oct). I know I have a period every 4 weeks so I have a 28 day cycle. Once you know how often you have a period you know what cycle you have, most women have a 28 day cycle but not everyone.
It then gives you the most fertile days (when the egg is released and able to be fertilised). For me it said Sat 15th to Thur 20th Oct. So extra 'trying' for these days Wink

Hope you manage to work it out, it's all very confusing, best bet is probably to try as much as possible! (my DH likes this idea! Wink)

CupOfBrownJoy · 14/10/2011 22:01

That's exactly what I'm doing Sarah! Grin I am a repeat uti sufferer but I'm gritting my teeth and enjoying as much swi as I can lay my hands on Grin

Thanks for the info too x

Vinolover · 15/10/2011 06:13

Thank you Sarah. I think positive thinking all the way :)
My ds has just turned 10 and my dd is nearly 7 (they're in years 5 and 2) so the age gap is going to be quite large! Will be like having my first again but with a hell of a lot more knowledge! I didn't have a clue when he was born, bless him. I just hope that because I haven't had a successful pregnancy in so long it wont hinder my chances. I know im only 29 but it's a lot older than the 22 year old I was when I had my dd.
I had a lot of trouble with the first mirena I had and eventually the drs decided I needed to have a general to have it removed and replaced (xmas last year) and whilst they were there they performed a hysteroscopy on me which didn't show anything untoward. Lets hope this means everything is still in working order ;)
Cup, you ask as many questions as you like! TTC is a very complicated thing indeed.
Xx

kirrinIsland · 15/10/2011 10:28

Hi everyone, mind if I join you? We've just started TTC number 2. DD is 9 months and I just got my period back so it's all systems go :)
cup me and my DP are the same agaes as you and yours and we conceived pretty quick - first month of trying first time round (mc) and then after 3 months, so you never know.
I've been using the ovulation calculator on here so I know when to try hardest but I think every 2-3 days is the recommended way. I used the clear blue digital monitor thingy first time round, which was great, but a friend has it now and her need is greater...

moggle · 15/10/2011 10:42

hello! I don't really belong here as we are not TTC #1 until next month (avoiding a July or August baby due to various reasons)... BUT! I'm another who can't tell anyone in RL so had to share... I came off the pill about sept 10th, after being on it for more than 10 years (blimey), and spent most of the past month convinced that I'd be one of the people who takes months to get their period back, especially as I was pretty irregular before I started the pill... Although that was SO LONG AGO I can hardly remember!
Anyway I have been taking evening primrose oil and Agnus castus to try and balance things out, and this morning I was woken by glorious pain... my period's here! YAY!
I did tell DH but he is far more interested in the rugby! Anyway I reckon next cycle we will start trying. Eeep! Will be looking out for that September bus!!

CupOfBrownJoy · 15/10/2011 11:06

OMG Kirrin you're brave!!! Love the name btw, I've been reading Famous 5 to the children in class, they love it as much as I used to Smile

I might think about getting a digital monitor thing around Christmas if nothing has happened, although I am heartened by the news that you were pg after the first month - I hope were are as lucky as that! I'm off to buy some zinc tablets today.

I'm also trying to persuade DP to give up smoking although with mixed results so far...

I'm beginning to realise how complicated ttc is...! And for all these years I thought all you had to do was have sex! Blush

Hi moggie, welcome! Did you run your pills together for 10 years? I've always hated my regular as clockwork heavy periods (tmi!) but now I'm thinking I might be glad of them... sending lots of good luck thoughts to you for next month...

Goldenbrown1981 · 15/10/2011 11:32

Hi guys can I join in?

I'm in month 3 of trying for DC1. really thought I was upduffed last month but it turns out I'm not, but this month is gonna be it.
Like Cupofbrownjoy I don't really have a clue about cycles and stuff like that but I'm learning. I find it ironic that I have gone through years of being so careful, convinced that one slip with contraception would = baby, I've had a bit of a shock at how long it can take.

CupOfBrownJoy · 15/10/2011 15:31

Hi Goldenbrown, pull up a sofa, by all means! [hgrin]

Welcome!

Caffeinefiend · 15/10/2011 16:38

Can I Join? Mirena coil has been binned...trying for baby number 3 :)
Already have DD aged 4 (in a week) and DD aged 2 (next month) and decided to have one last baby.

Good luck all X
