No more Pill!! This is it!! Starting a JULY-AUG 2012 bus...

Hey guys!! Have taken the big step of coming of the Pill to TTC another DC. This will be DC number 2 - already have DS who is 15 months old and a DSD who is 7 years. We have spoken about another baby for a while now but it has now become more of a reality now that we have decided to stop using any contraception!! I am so so excited but know all too well about this horrible waiting game of patience which seems to get worse even after a BFP as then it's the painful wait for a 12 week scan!! (although this time I may pay for a private scan) I have had a MC before DS was born so am also aware of not getting to ahead of myself...but I'm so excited nonetheless!! I bought my friend a little present for her brand new (with tags on) baby girl and was so so broody. Cant wait for my turn now!!

Sorry for the long warbling post. This is such a hard time, the pre TTC, the waiting for BFP or BFN etc etc...I am the most impatient person in the world as it is...and to not to be able to tell anyone in RL makes it even harder!!

Hehehehehe @ all the OPK OCD. I did another today, it's CD 14 and still no dark line. They've all been quite faint the last few days. I started testing CD 10, even though it's been running 32-35 days the last 3 months. I was on 30-day cycle like clockwork, almost down to the hour. Ho-hum. I guess I shouldn't expect a positive OPK until probably next Wedensday or even later, but still.

I feel like I can never get a positive line on ANY kind of test

I'm with you fishpants. The only test I'd be likely to get a positive on tonight would be a breathalyzer....

On Friday it will be the first day I can POAS to see if we have been successful this month.
Anyone else know the day they can test?

Not until I work out my cycle length Sarah... I'm not planning to poas until I'm late by more than a couple of days or get definite "signs" iyswim.

Do you poas regardless, each month? Apologies if I have misunderstood.

God I want to fast forward a couple of months so I can get all "professional" about my cycle

Haha Cauldron I completely sympathize with your anxiety and wanting to get all 'professional' - I have heaps of it here too. That's why I charted my cycle for 5 months before actually TTC this month - BUT AF decided to go all haywire on me and be weird for the last 3 of them. [hangry]

Hm...I don't know when I'll be able to POAS either. I guess maybe 11-14 DPO? A clearblue digital came with my OPK's, I'm sure I'll be gagging to use it as soon as I can.

I think I could probably poas on the 15th - so a little way to go yet. I always say I'll wait til I'm a good few days late, but then I start symptom spotting, convince myself that I really really must be this time, and then do a test which is, of course, negative.
Actually, when I got my bfp last time, I had no symptoms at all but I just knew it would be positive. It was about 3 days early as well.

That's strange Kirrin - your body must send you messages somehow...

If no AF appears on the 8th to the 10th (very "ish") I would possibly poas around the 12th/13th but I'm convinced I'm not going to be pg this month.

I will be blaming DP entirely for getting drunk until 4am on what I had (randomly) calculated to be Prime Trying Day

Great link Sarah :) According to that, I was very fertile yesterday and ovulating today. However, according to the clearblue opk it says I should be ovulating in the next 24-48hrs. Im hoping I haven't missed it as we had swi on thursday and nothing since! Best give it a go tonight just incase :)

Ah think I am in the same boat as some of you only came off pill at the very end of June had af end of august and now nothing so just sitting around waiting, tested yesterday although we didn't try last month due to work and was sure I wasn't and got bfn so no idea when to swi or anything but just gonna do it everyday/every other day til af or bfp and see what happens. No opks for me yet possibly a month or two of trying and I might just to check I'm oving as with last pg had ov pain but since coming off the pill nothing....! Have some royal jelly on order tho 2 months supply so shall see if that works

Cauldron, that really made me lol! These men can be so inconsiderate ;) My DH is desperate for a break, bless him. He's only used to maybe once a week, twice if he was lucky! I haven't dare tell him yet that he's booked in for tonight aswell ;0 Hee hee.

Can i join this thread please? I am relatively new to mumsnet so please bare with me. Not too sure what all these acronyms mean yet.
Last night i took my last contraceptive pill and am now waiting for my final "fake period" to come and go so that we can get down to business. So i really am a newbie! I am super excited about TTC our first child (i bought a heap of ovulation test 2 months ago because i couldn't wait... don't tell my husband) but also really nervous because i have been on the pill for 12 years and know that it can take a while for your body to get back to normal.
Thought it would be really nice to join this thread so that i can share my journey with others who are in the same situation. That way i won't have to let on to my friends or family how utterly obsessed i am with getting pregnant.
Anyhow, that's my story for now. Who knows what the future holds?!

2ww was one of the few i have worked out, well at least i think i have. I think it's '2 week wait'.
I get OH (other half) but not so sure about DP/DH. I'm guessing it's something to do with husband/boyfriend/partner?!?
Also - OPK. Something to do with ovulation tests?

I like your idea of a thread for the men. I reckon my OH would love a place to vent about how i can turn every conversation we have around to babies... poor guy.

AF is not due until 18th and i will leave it a good few days of being late before i poas, in the past i have been 3 weeks late before i have got a positive result.

What is this I'm reading about your first AF (Aunt Flow/period - for pinsent!) after coming off the pill not being "real"? Can I use it to predict my cycle or not? At the moment I am CD (cycle day) 16 I think, but am counting from the first day of my first AF after I came off the pill. I'm planning to note the first date of my next AF to work out my cycle length, then keep noting them to get an average.

Am I doing it wrong?

Sorry to cause confusion Cauldron. I am no expert at this TTC malarky as i am only just starting out, so please don't take anything i say as gospel. However i think that when you are on the pill you don't have proper periods, you have withdrawl bleeds. TBH i'm not sure if you can count this as part of your cycle or not as they are not real periods. However when AF comes next time, it will definately be the real thing. I think that is why doctors prefer you to wait until you have had a proper period before TTC so that if you get pregnant they can calculate your due date more precisely.
However i don't know about you but i can't wait til then. Plus i have just finished reading Zita West's Guide to Getting Pregnant and she reckons you get a fertility surge when coming off the pill so it is good to start trying straight away.

Like i say, i am completely new to this and there is so much information out there, some of it contradictory, that it is hard to know what is right and wrong.
I'm just going to go for it and hope for the best for the first cycle.

Sorry me again. Just had a bit of a search on-line and looks like you can use the first day of your withdrawl bleed to start charting. Seriously, what would we do without the internet?!

So far then hopefully I've had a fertility surge already when I came off the pill plus have possibly ovulated this weekend sometime. I'm daring to feel some (small amount of) hope!

DP keeps asking me if I think I'm pg. I can see that getting annoying quite quickly!

Still havent given in!!! I dont know how Im keeping it together! I feel like Im getting my period though. I wa convinced at one point today but there has been nothing. I keep thinking if I do a pg test, and I get my BFN, sods law dictates my AF will come on two mins after I take the test!!!!

Welcome pincent I came off the pill after nearly 10 years, had a "proper"period 28 days later and was pregnant the next month so you never know!
bosco got my fingers crossed for you. I'm very impressed that you're managing not to test - I can never help myself. And you're right about AF coming just after you test - sod's law :) but at least it puts a stop to the "am I aren't I?"

By the way pincent and cauldron doctors do prefer you to wait til you've had a "proper" period when coming off the pill before ttc, but, as pincent said, it's to make it easier to date the pregnancy..... Which is their problem, not yours :) if all else fails, a dating scan will do the same job - so i wouldn't be worrying about that.....
