CaveMum · 16/06/2011 18:08

Welcome all! Hopefully the guys from the last thread will be along soon to boost our numbers.

We got DH's second sperm analysis back today (they said the first one was a little bit low) and he's passed with flying colours. They did say he had a high "round cell" count and that he may have a low grade infection of some sort Hmm.

Gearing up to tell my boss next week that I need 2 days off for my operation. We don't want the world and his wife knowing what we're up to so I'm hoping he won't ask too many questions!

Karstan · 16/06/2011 18:13

Hi everyone, just jumping on the new thread. Still not counting days and one more month until we hopefully get the all clear to start trying.

Despite not trying and my last period being less than a week ago I've still managed to convince myself I might be pregnant Hmm - ludicrous!

Cloclo15 · 16/06/2011 18:28

Well spotting started today so AF will be along in the next day or so. Didn't really expect it but still couldn't help having a damn good cry about it. Booked in for next blood tests and DH went for his first SA today - though he cut himself on the container! Just fantastic.

Fingers, thrilled for you, enjoy telling your husband, it'll be great!

brimfullofasha · 16/06/2011 19:41

Can i join?

brimfullofasha (30) TTC 1, ucl 28-33 days, AF due 11th July

We've only been trying for 4 cycles and I'm sick of it (well not it Smile but sick of trying and stressing). I am determined to be pregnant this month!

TomboyWife · 16/06/2011 19:47

Huge congrats Fingers! Grin

Cloclo sorry about AF and hope you're feeling a bit less discouraged now. Have a Wine, it sounds like you need it.

Welcome to the new joiners and here's hoping (in a nice way) that your stay with us is really short.

It looks like the miscarriage bleeding is tailing off. I'm told the time between m/c and the first normal period is called the WTF cycle, so I'm not counting days for the moment. We'll just try to shag semi-regularly and if we get lucky first time, great.

Cloclo15 · 16/06/2011 20:26

Thanks Tomboy, glad things are beginning to settle for you now. Can't believe I'm about to start cycle 8 now, never thought I'd be waiting this long!

Stats, incase anyone feels like putting them all together, my iPhone makes that nearly impossible:

Cloclo15 (29) Cycle 7, UCL 29, CD 29

I've almost given up feeling disappointed, I just feel sad now :(

CherryAddict · 16/06/2011 20:33

Hello ladies, can I join? I've been trying nearly 2 years now, just had cyst removed and tubes checked (all good) so hoping for some luck!

Good luck to all of you and congratulations Fingers!

LateToTheTTCParty · 16/06/2011 20:48

Whoop whoop Fingers, clever you!
Fabulous start to the shiny new thread - we start as we mean to go on!

Tomboy, a friend of mine fell pg straight after her mc. She didn't have ertd at all & didn't realise she was pg for a while, just thought her cycle was a bit all over the shop! She had a DD 7 weeks ago Grin

Glad to hear Mr Cave isn't letting the side down Cave Wink

ChantingAsISpeak · 16/06/2011 21:19

Hello, can I join too? [shy wave emoticon]
Very recently decided to start, although will be seriously TTC from next cycle so this will just be a 'practice' run. Late, that CD looks interesting!

ChantingAsISpeak (38) TTC#1, cycle -1, UCL 25ish, CD9

TomboyWife · 16/06/2011 21:28

Cloclo I'm sure you're not in the mood to hear this, but 8 cycles really isn't that many. Even if everything goes perfectly you've only got about a 20% chance per cycle, so you don't have to be too awfully unlucky to have 7 misses.

Late I broke my collarbone last year and missed the next two periods thanks to the trauma. After a while I started testing every couple of weeks in case of exactly the situation you describe.

CaveMum · 16/06/2011 21:38

Ooo lots of newbies! Welcome all!

Tomboy glad to hear things are settling down. A friend of mine had a miscarriage at 7 weeks and decided to put a positive spin on it - she said at least she knew she could get pregnant.
There is some anecdotal evidence that suggests you are more likely to fall pregnant just after a miscarriage as you have lots of extra hormones floating around. Don't put too much pressure on yourself though.

CherryAddict I'm in a similar situation - I've been diagnosed with PCOS and a recent HSG showed that I have one blocked Fallopian tube. I have an appointment for a laporoscopy in a few weeks time where they will see if they can do anything about the blockage and/or cysts.

My consultant said after my Op they will probably put me on Clomid for 6 months before considering IVF. It's been a bit of a shock to be honest, I never thought it could be so difficult to conceive. We only decided to start trying last May but if I'd known about my PCOS (which was hidden by the Pill) we would have started TTC much sooner.

Anyway, enough about me: feel free to share any concerns/worries here. Everyone is lovely and supportive and a great source of knowledge! We're also very good at talking people out of testing too early Wink

I would do the list but I'm also on my IPhone! I'm sure someone will come along soon and get it sorted!

OP posts:
CherryAddict · 16/06/2011 21:48

Aaah Cave, thank you! It's bloody annoying isn't it?! Don't worry yourself too much about the Op, i was scared as i had never been in hosp before but the Dr's and nurses are lovely and it's really quick. I took a week off work though, it's important to take it easy (and eat a lot of chocolate). The Dr told me I should keep trying for another 6 months before they put me on clomid/try something else - i don't want to wait that long though... means i might be waiting another year.... I'm going to Dr next week so will voice my concerns...
It's tough isn't it? Big hugs to everyone trying!

Cloclo15 · 16/06/2011 22:50

It's funny how different docs/hospitals have different policies isn't it? Even though we haven't been trying that long, because of my abnormal blood results we have been seen really quickly. To be honest, I think they will put me on Clomid if my results are still bad after these tests. Anyone here been on it?

greenscarf · 16/06/2011 23:48

Can I join too?

This is our secondish cycle trying, although we have not been counting days and probably not having enough sex at the right dates. I guess we still feel it might just happen more spontaneously.

I got really carried away and obsessed last cycle Confused (POASing constantly) which put me off the whole idea as I thought I could not really go through this emotional rollercoster every month. I have picked myself up since!

Sorry for the whining, I know its only been 2 months but as you all ladies know... IT IS TOUGH!

My numbers:

greenscarf (25) TTC#1, cycle 2, UCL 31ish, CD23

Good luck everyone!

1sttimetryer · 17/06/2011 07:35

Hi All, hope you dont mind me joining your thread, im completely new to this to please bear with me while i try to learn all your slang for everything!
Im 25 been ttc for about 8weeks now, but my cycles are very irregular, the last 2 being 43 and 48 days.
Anyone else in a simular situation, would love to hear how your all getting on.
much love x

Flickstar · 17/06/2011 08:01

Hi ladies, just thought I'd stop by and say hello although most of you won't remember me! In fact I think it's just cave, karstan and cookie who are left from when I was a regular!

Have been following your progress cave and have seen your West Wing thread although I can't look at it as I am currently devouring series 2 and don't want it to be spoilt!

Hope this thread is lucky for you all,

Lots of love, flick

CaveMum · 17/06/2011 08:24

Flick!!!!!!! How are you my lovely?! How very spooky, I was just thinking about you the other day.

Yes definitely stay away from the West Wing thread for now, it'll be worth it in the end!

I think I'm probably going to be a permanent fixture around here at this rate, but fingers crossed all the poking and prodding from the Drs will sort me out soon.

[Gives Flick a big unmumsnetty hug]
