@NobodyGivesADamn thanks for the title

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

My American golf basket is now over £150 so if anyone does come across a discount code I will be forever grateful!

Also, went to our local garden centre today and they had some of the rarer jellycats so if anyone is struggling to find the ones they want might be worth looking in a garden centre

Also, Look fantastic has 20% off a lot of perfumes and aftershaves

My youngest DD - 5 but big for her age, possibly relevant - has asked for a puffy out yellow princess dress for Christmas. Disney store official one is out of stock in her size. Has anyone bought a dupe of anything like that they could recommend? It’s the only thing she has asked for so I want it to be really special looking and not cheap-knock off looking (obviously, if it’s cheap but doesn’t look it that would be fine haha). Or, does anyone have any idea if it’s likely Disney store would get more stock?

They have the other style of Belle dress on the Disney Store website - I'd definitely advise sizing up as I've found them to be a little small in the past.
Rubies also do great Princess dresses but they can be as expensive, if not more so, as the Disney store. Also worth noting - the Disney Store tends to have good black friday deals.

The supermarkets all have them too - but I have found they are not quite as good as they used to be recently.

The other place to look is Vinted and you can often find some Disney parks special editions too.

I know she wants a puffy out dress but, just in case you didn't know, some have a hoop which can be quite a trip hazard as well as just generally awkward.

Apparently, if I ever go on Mastermind, princess dresses could be my specialist subject 😂

@InbetweenDreams we bought Belle dresses from Amazon when we took our girls to watch Beauty and the Beast at the theatre a few years ago. I’ve just checked the buy again section and the exact ones we bought are unavailable. But they look very similar to this Belle dress and we were very happy with the quality, they washed well and lots of people asked where we bought them. They actually still wear them as we sized up. They came with the gloves but no other accessories.

For any Bluey fans, they now have a busy book for £7 in the works and also spotted in Asda (but can’t see it online).

Not Disney type dresses but I can recommend Frillylily dresses for over the top flouncieness my 7 yr old granddaughter has one with a matching outfit for her 18 inch doll. Decent quality.

I don't know if you've ever used it, but Hell Bunny have an official ebay page. The stuff is often a lot cheaper (although not always current season)

Worth a look. I've bought a lot from them over the years and usually half the price of my local stockist.

Thanks so much, I didn’t know they have an eBay store! I’ll have a look 👀 😊

Cupofteaandbiscuits · 04/11/2024 15:18

Did I miss a Hobbycraft deal? Saw it referred to earlier on but can’t find where it is on the thread!

InbetweenDreams · 04/11/2024 15:23

Thanks all. I definitely was going to size up as she is nearly 6 but has been in 6-7 for ages. They only had 5-6 or 7-8 on the Disney store so had thought she’d need 7-8 to make sure it fits for more than a month but wasn’t sure. I will look into the other things people have suggested. I looked at tk maxx online but nothing yellow unfortunately!

Not exactly a bargain but 02 Priority have pre sale access to the Hercules musical for 2025. In my experience presale tickets for the theatre are often cheaper and there is good availability at the moment. If you can go on a Tuesday evening they have some bargain lightening tickets available.

Can anyone help me with a charity gift tree present. I have to buy for a teenage girl who wants ‘art supplies’

i have a boy and am not arty so any ideas would be greatly appreciated! I’m going to pop in a couple of adult colouring books, hand creams, face masks etc but I would like to get something she would like.

thanks!

hannahbanana2007 · 04/11/2024 16:07

Thanks for the Outsmarted code @redjoker, have been watching prices for a while and actually had it in my basket last night with a 10% off code, so am glad I was too disorganised to actually complete the payment or would have been kicking myself now!

They had a £5 off £15 spend in early October and their 20% of £40 spend has just finished. I'm hoping they offer another storewide discount for BF.

shash1982 · 04/11/2024 16:14

@Zayflower Such a lovely thing to do.
Have a look at the Crawford and Black range in the works. Its decent quality and good value
My teen DD likes the watercolour pencils and sketch pads.
You can get sets that add watercolour paints etc.

Stardustmoon · 04/11/2024 16:19

Oh noooo! My boys have asked for air ups for Christmas. Where do I start?! They look so expensive. Does anyone know how to get them a little bit cheaper? Sales or refer codes? Thanks so much!

The works have a good range of art supplies as well, and often have items down in price. My sister, who is an artist uses them and says they are good.

Air Up did a good offer for buying 2 (or possibly spending over a certain amount that may have been about the cost of 2 if I remember right) last year for Black Friday. So I suggest keeping a watch on their website for a similar deal.
