@NobodyGivesADamn thanks for the title

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

@MayorOfHuyton and @Myattention

Many thanks , just purchased the Elemis set from QVC on Easypay , excellent tip !

redjoker · 04/11/2024 07:24

I really hate the qvc website. I tried to apply code
QMAGIC to the elmis set. It says it's worked but doesn't show you the discount. It wants card details first and im too scared incase I actually buy it and I haven't decided yet!

@Cupofteaandbiscuits - i second what everyone else has said about a cheap handmixer (preferably on a stand) - im a very keen baker and so is my dd and i have got a lot of stuff from home bargains - jane asher has a range in there that is very reasonably priced and decent quality. Id also add a little plastic rolling pin for fondant and a few cutters so she can make her own decorations. They also have decent cake mixes in home bargains in case you want to get her started with something easy

Can anyone recommend some cheap earbuds from Amazon etc? Just as a wee extra for my youngest

I have some JLab Go Air Pop earbuds (emergency purchase when I forgot mine on a work trip!), they’re pretty good sound quality, long battery life (~32hrs) and an integrated usb charger in the bottom of the case (no need for another wire!). And they come in a range of colours; I have the lilac. I paid £25 on offer but I’ve seen them as low as £20.

OKScarpetta · 04/11/2024 08:03

@Cupofteaandbiscuits
Depends on what she’s wanting to make? Is it the baking itself? In which case spatulas/ mixing bowl/ oven gloves/ measuring cups or spoons/ choc chips and so on. Or is it the cake/ cookie decorating?

My 9 year old is into this bit, so I’d get some fondant icing (yuk!) with small rolling pin and then a big selection of cutters- something like this:
https://amzn.eu/d/9lvWQEu

and for piping buttercream for cupcakes you want to include 1M, 2D, 4B/8B, so a set with some variety. Loads of tutorials on YouTube to show you how to use them.
https://amzn.eu/d/3AwdlRw
this one is in a box, and looks lovely (there are lots of choices). Or, if you already have some normal piping tips, the Russian style ones are good.

Elphaba17 · 04/11/2024 08:03

QVC have a refer a friend link when I checked out. So in case the code posted above stops working you can use the link in the referral thread to get £10 off if you open a new account with them.

£61.95 for the set is a fab deal!

Fuckingfuckssake · 04/11/2024 08:43

QVC, check if you have a Halifax Rewards card, I've got 10% cashback on there, also 11% on TCB for new customers, these will stack obviously, TCB may not track if you use a discount code though.

Justhereforthechristmasthreads · 04/11/2024 08:49

@Wholetthedogsoutwhowhowho I think you were after Guinea Pig toys. May already be sorted but just saw this as I was scrolling and thought a christmassy one was quite cute

whoknows1230 · 04/11/2024 08:58

I just tried to buy the Elemis set, put the QMAGIC code in and went to checkout but then it gave me an error message and said I needed to try again or phone QVC.

I logged out and logged back in to try again and then it told me that I'd already used the code, so I phoned QVC and they put it all through for me, no problem.

I feel really decadent buying it - I normally never treat myself to things like this!

Donsyb · 04/11/2024 09:01

@Dinomum24 have a look at https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61551026696062

If she’d like that kind of thing, it’s all hand made, reasonably priced and nice quality. She uses recycled silver and lots of sea glass etc. probably too late for commissions for Christmas but she normally has some items in stock for sale.

Thank you, @Ilovepugs2017 they're now 50% off so I bought 2 for DTs!

I also bought paper refills, 5 for a tenner which I thought was good.

Debenhams Black Friday preview has started for beauty and fragrance with at least 50% off. Extra 15% off selected brands with code EXTRA15.
Clinique 50% off gift sets

I also have unique codes for:

20% off phase eight

£10 off purchases over £50 at Clarins

Thelifeofawife · 04/11/2024 09:16

@whoknows1230 I’ve just tested it and it worked, but only knocked £10 off total, not multiple.
I had bought a couple early hours of this morning, without the code, so I’ve just emailed them to see if there’s anything they can do
