@NobodyGivesADamn thanks for the title

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Has anyone smelt Ariana Grande Cloud? I may or may not be ready to cave and buy myself something whilst browsing all the bargains, but don't know anyone who has it and haven't been able to have a cheeky sniff at any stores. I'm more a fan of sweet smells rather than floral if that's of any help? Or alternatively any other suggestions?

Glad to see these gold bath fizzers back at B&M, my DS thought they were very cool last year.

Cloud smells gorgeous and I’d say more sweet than floral!

Really soft and sweet, but not fruity. Think: a giant marshmallow! But plenty of adults wear it, it's not childish smelling either.

The Clinique Black honey/pink honey almost lipstick gift duo is only £19.95 at Parfumdreams. It’s £28 pretty much everywhere else and it’s practically a must have for my 17 year old dd and her very fashionable friends at the minute!

Going to repost in as it's a new thread. There was a post a few threads prior with a list of things that we're random but useful house items. I believe that the poster played a guess what it is item. If you're the poster and see this would you be ok to PM the list?.I can't find it now. Thanks with lots of sparkly Christmas joy on

I'd like a copy of that too!!

Wallaroo21 · 30/10/2024 20:55

I bought the cloud perfume when it was an offer from these threads last year. I absolutely love it and use it for casual days. I was worried it would be teenagerish but it's not at all.

TheGirlWhoLived · 30/10/2024 20:52

I’ve missed the offer on Ariana grande cloud; could someone direct me? want to get some for dd2. Managed to get Lego adventure from Amazon for £65, still a lot but way less than £114 than Argos wanted, it’s been at around £90 for ages. Happy with this!

I'm currently looking at it in Boots £36.66 or 100ml

Would anyone have a discount or student code for the Nike website please?

Ds has asked for a specific pair for Christmas and as he is now into men's shoe sizes £175 + for a pair of trainers he will grow out of in a few months is painful!

My young teen would like a metal detector . However I’m on a tight budget and don’t want to waste it in one that doesn’t work. Any recommendations?

tootsnwoocake · 30/10/2024 21:31

@FilthyforFirth thank you so much. That's a huge help.

was it this one from last year? I got a load of good ideas from here!

It wasn't, but this is a good thread, thanks!

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 30/10/2024 19:09

@Qwerty21 was it this fab list, from @wibdib

My mum and a friend used to have a similar gift exchange every year their theme was 'guess what' - they got handed over on Christmas Eve and you had to declare your answer on New Year's Eve (they would usually see each other on those days for parties). Over those years they never repeated anything nor did they end up getting the same thing the same year!
Lots of the things they exchanged have now become a little more mainstream and can now be found in places like Lakeland so it would be worth checking them out but some of the more fun things that stick out in memory include (and most of which can be found on eBay and/or Amazon:
Cubed egg mould for hard boiled eggs (these days check out amazon egg cubed mould but they also have lots of shaped ones for Japanese bento boxes and rice moulds
Corn on the cob kernel remover - corn on the cob remover 1 corn on the cob stripper 2
silicone spoon rest/lid lifter 1
silicone spoon holder/lid rest 2
silicone lid rest
silicone cup lid/cover
easy spreader butter knife - great if you have hard butter that you can't spread easily
egg knocker - to decapitate eggs
turkey forks - ours only get used rarely but so useful whenever we do have a joint
meat claws -if you like pulled meat
pineapple corer.peeler/slicer
pineapple eye remover
strawberry huller
sandwich shape cutter - lots of different ones
It's late so I've just put a link to the first I've round of many of these things - they give the idea and explanation but do a quick search for each thing as I haven't searched for the best priced one.
Also the kitchen thing that has bought me most joy this year has been an oil spray from Amazon - I had a bigger than usual bottle of good rapeseed oil, that was difficult to drizzle. Found a nice spray bottle on amazon that looks like this, but mine is mustard yellow colour top, sprays and pours, but just does it really nicely and is a great way to get a little oil nicely over things - it just is really satisfying to use! Bought it through dh's prime account so I can't see which one it was at the moment but can check later if you're interested.

I only remembered as I bought a few bits, thank you @wibdib

Yesssss this was it! Thanks so much 😊

weareallqueens · 30/10/2024 21:37

Some discounted Lego on Amazon too. The 3 in one roller skate combo and some of the other 3 in ones are reduced.
