Thread 3 - The one with the Grim Giftsets

Reastie · 29/09/2024 19:15

Thanks to @SpottyBumPony for giving us such a grim code Xmas Grin

I've spent the afternoon going through the Christmas list and feeling very overwhelmed about how much to get and how much it'll all cost. I need to get control and organised.

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Wondering if anyone can help - looking for an advent calendar for a woman that's not beauty/make up/candles but more substantial than a chocolate every day

Velvetiser hot chocolate calendar?
Iced biscuit advent calendar?
Cheese calendar?
Socks calendar?

Yoto player advice please! Has anyone found bargains recently? And has anyone had a child outgrow them? It's a fair whack to sink in and I'm not convinced my older would use one much - but ut would be the end of the world if his little sister got one and he didn't...

My eldest two (9 and 7) LOVE theirs, especially the 9y/o, so much so that I bought him a second, mini one which he will often bring downstairs to listen to whilst doing something else. He'll also take himself upstairs to listen to it if he wants some down time. My twins (4) also have one which we just use to play sleep music at night. Really great purchase IMO

Mumofboys1317 · 05/10/2024 15:42

Sorry if this is not the right place to ask, I feel like I've read about an Amazon business account on a previous thread. Is it worth doing if you've been offered one? Thanks.

Anyone looking for presents for a Welsh rugby supporter (there are a few of us!) -the WRU store have a sale on at the moment. 60% - 80% off some items. Obviously not this season's kit but some real bargains.

Just had a Quick Look and there’s some amazing bargains on there! Thanks for sharing! We are hoping to go to one of the Welsh rugby games next month so this will come in handy for that! X

Typically they have some sort of deal around Black Friday but it's not necessarily on the player itself. Sometimes it's just on cards or just on accessories.

I don't think it's likely that an older child would outgrow it very easily because of the option to make your own content. So you can buy audiobooks that are more geared to their interests and put them on cards plus podcasts and radio stations so pretty open ended.

@SomeFiggyPudding thank you - sadly that isn't working anymore.....

bizzey · 05/10/2024 16:03

Thanks for all the positives that whistlefish will arrive !

Now do I want that tin !

🤔..

What are their candles like ?

I have ordered some in last week's order...
But not arrived yet !

I don't mind doing the candles at those prices as DM and her friends live them ...so I can sell them to mum to give to her friends. 😁

bizzey · 05/10/2024 16:05

My mum is the sort of person to always have some emergency candles to gift for when she has forgotten something!!

I've just got 40% off at Claire's Accessories with code FUN40. There's also a small cashback via TCB.

Lots of caps and woolly hats for NFL/NBA/NHA teams on Lids on sale, quite a few just over a fiver and free shipping today only (code on banner at top).

IlovePond · 05/10/2024 17:38

@EvilHerbivore - the Bonne Maman jam and spread one is very popular.

White Stuff also do a 12 day sock calendar. (After ‘sock gate’ last year, I expect they are excluding it from any discounts😹)

MamaK19 · 05/10/2024 17:43

nicky2512 · 05/10/2024 18:36

@IsThisIt2021 you may already have had an answer but I needed two the year before last and got a brilliant offer on Samsungs own website. I think it was round Halloween though and possibly not Black Friday. I’m going to see if I can find the email.

nicky2512 · 05/10/2024 18:39

@IsThisIt2021 found it! Ordered two phones, chargers and ear buds from Samsung on 4 November 2022 for DH and DS and saved twenty five per cent!!

I need a whole load of gifts for boys 17-22. They are groups of brothers, 2-3, in each family. I could duck out and do gift vouchers but I've some real hit presents over the years so I'm trying to pull it out of the bag again. Over the years, they've had Hype stuff, spicery sets (they all love cooking or were off to Uni!), sports tops, multi tool pens. Any ideas, would love to know!
