Thread 3 - The one with the Grim Giftsets

Thanks to @SpottyBumPony for giving us such a grim code Xmas Grin

I've spent the afternoon going through the Christmas list and feeling very overwhelmed about how much to get and how much it'll all cost. I need to get control and organised.

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Became a fellow whistlefish sheep! 50 cards for crimbo and next years birthdays, book of stamps and the free wrap for £38 delivered.
Well worth it, especially as it will keep me from popping to Tesco to get a card and spending £20 on shite.

Cupofteaandbiscuits · 29/09/2024 19:25

Thank you @Reastie

Has anyone got any ideas for a 10 year old cooking mad girl please? She has lots of gadgets etc and so looking for something unusual! X

Thanks @Reastie . I remember there were a couple of bargain toy sites in your OP last year. Do you know if they are still operating?

LePetitMaman · 29/09/2024 19:38

Does anyone know of some bargainous men's moccasins? Or if not bargainous, a particular pair you would recommend?

Preferably not too thick fur lined as DH is permanently hot as it is.

This cute Melissa and Doug wooden cutting set is £9.99 at Very.

They're not cheap, but Sorel moccasins are a brand leader. Try eBay/Vinted for "new with tags" bargains.

I can’t find the original comment but to whoever was looking for a better discount on Oodie try COMEBACK20

Good question! I’m not sure. I think I’ve ordered from poundtoy before but I always get muddled with two poundtoy type online shops - one is great and one I had a nightmare with and has loads of bad reviews so that’s probably actually really unhelpful

A bit London centric, but anyone looking for noodles, bubble tea, Japanese sweets and snacks etc. I popped into Seoul Plaza (they have a few branches around the country) today and they had bubble tea kits for £4.95 and huge bags of the tapioca pearls in different flavours for under £2. It’s a lot cheaper to make up your own hamper from an Asian supermarket rather than buying kits from Amazon or bubble tea sites. Ditto noodles, sweets and snacks. I think some of the stores (Seoul Plaza, Longdan, Japan Centre) have online shops too, although they are cheaper in store.

okayhescereal · 29/09/2024 20:51

@Reastie what's the grim code?? Feel like that one totally passed me by...I'm not even sure what Grim is? 😅
