Thread 3 - The one with the Grim Giftsets

Reastie · 29/09/2024 19:15

Thanks to @SpottyBumPony for giving us such a grim code Xmas Grin

I've spent the afternoon going through the Christmas list and feeling very overwhelmed about how much to get and how much it'll all cost. I need to get control and organised.

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

@oriel2013 I would love the boden voucher please if no-one has taken it yet? I have some bits to buy for the kids.

Is the Smyths offer this year only £10 off if you spend over £100 and not multiples? Eg spend £200 get £10 off too?

Yes, it’s nowhere near as good as previous years.

OatFlatWhiteForMePlease · 04/10/2024 20:48

Thanks for all the sit up cushion help, looking like MIL would definitely benefit from one.

Pandagram · 04/10/2024 20:50

Solace Jewellery - the code 3FORYOU makes those bundles 3 for the price of 2.

Vimaybe · 04/10/2024 20:52

@PiPinkSkiesAtNight glad I'm not alone are you temped by the Christmassy cinnamon or green fir yet or am I just a bit much! 😅

Thank you for the link x

Sorry it's already gone

Carolwithane · 04/10/2024 21:11

I'm after some outdoor lights at a decent price to wrap around the tree in our front garden. Just remembered they weren't working properly last year and I tossed them in January meaning to pick up a set in the sales 🙄

44PumpLane · 04/10/2024 21:19

Silly me being too quick off the mark with the Solace Jewelry! I bought a set of 3 kids earrings as one of mine wants their ears pierced but could have got 25% off or 3 for 2......oh well I would only have spent more money and realistically £12 delivered for 3 pairs of earrings that I know will be good for her ears is still a total bargain!

Wholetthedogsoutwhowhowho · 04/10/2024 21:22

I'm now thinking my son would like one of the cuddle cushions a few of you have mentioned. Is there such a thing as a sonic or minecraft or mario one?

djfjfj · 04/10/2024 21:43

Thanks for the Solace offer! I recently bought some for my DD in a bundle deal for Christmas as she had her ears pierced recently, and a mini jewellery box to put them in. This will fill it up nicely and give her a bit more choice; it’s worth a go for that price. I also got a pack for myself as one of my ears has felt a bit sore when wearing earrings recently (after 30+ years of no issues!). I used the 3 for 2 offer.

hby9628 · 04/10/2024 22:22

@Chocolatecakewithsprinkles thank you for the hair straightener. They have been recommended to me by my hairdresser as my DD has asked for some straighteners for xmas so I've been keeping an eye out for some. Got double points so another £2.43 off

Lazza24 · 04/10/2024 22:31

Annoying that I didn’t know about the Solace 3 for 2 code as I ordered 2 bundles!!! Never mind. Still a bargain, just not as much of one as I thought!!

WideFootWelly · 04/10/2024 22:33

I can't get the Solace 3FORYOU code to work. I have a 15% 'FIRSTORDER' code, but not quite as good

3FORYOU isn't working for me either but FIRST25 is for 25% off

hby9628 · 04/10/2024 22:36

@Lazza24 I've just been on & ordered 3 more bundles with that code! Now got several pairs of earrings on their way to me. Such a great find even at the £10.

I have got my DD a stackers jewellery box as part of her Xmas so using someone's tip of popping some of the earrings in for her.

I definitely concur, they are fantastic! Thank you for the reminder as I have just placed an order for this year.

They currently have a Twelve Days of Christmas metal puzzles advent calendar reduced.

These Waxidoodles are also a huge hit in our house with DS5 for no-mess art, so might make quite a nice gift for any little ones who are artistically inclined.

Thank you and to OP
The Waxidoodles look perfect for DD8. Mess free always appreciated 😆

Just be mindful that Apple are discontinuing the iPhone 15 pro and 15 pro max - I think (but not sure) this might mean that you can’t update the software.

SomethingOfTheNight · 04/10/2024 23:09

Struggling to think of ideas for my 19yr old DS. He has a good job and has already bought his own car. He loves tech; budget £80. Thank you in advance.

SomeFiggyPudding · 04/10/2024 23:45

Another Solace 🐑 here but what a fantastic offer! Daughters and niece all had ears pierced recently so excited to receive these to gift them. Many thanks to the original poster 😊

I got this from Amazon about a month back and can confirm it’s a nice smell. Not overly Christmassy either. I put a few drops in a bath.

Broken12 · 05/10/2024 05:57

Any recommendations for a fun make up box for a 5 year old? One without make up with it. I’ve picked up lots of little bits In sales for her and thought I’d get a make up box to pop it all in as she currently uses my wash bags

thank you!
