Thread 3 - The one with the Grim Giftsets

Thanks to @SpottyBumPony for giving us such a grim code Xmas Grin

I've spent the afternoon going through the Christmas list and feeling very overwhelmed about how much to get and how much it'll all cost. I need to get control and organised.

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

@bizzey it’s never wise to order for last minute use with Whistlefish but when they arrive the cards and other items are brilliant. They are produced using recycled paper and sent from Cornwall after being handpicked. It’s definitely worth the wait especially when the offer is used.

SweetPeaPods · 05/10/2024 06:53

Ds1 would like a tv for his bedroom for Christmas. Do we think prime day would be best (was hoping other retailers might price match) or should I hold off for Black Friday?

bigchanges1 · 05/10/2024 07:14

I had an email that my Whistlefish delivery is coming today. I ordered on Sunday, so I don’t think that’s too bad knowing the number of orders they probably got from us alone.

it’s the first time I’ve ordered from them - I’ll post a photo when it arrives.

PennyPippin · 05/10/2024 07:16

Good morning, just wondered what do people use to gift the Fahlo bracelets? Any nice boxes that fit the tracking card too?

Had an email from Notino with discount codes if they are any use to anyone.

Just be mindful that Apple are discontinuing the iPhone 15 pro and 15 pro max - I think (but not sure) this might mean that you can’t update the software.

They’ll be updatable for a few years yet! Apple updates their handsets every year and discontinues the previous model(s) - ios18 currently runs on handsets discontinued 5-6 years ago.

Ah thank you - I read something about this being the quickest discontinuance of an iPhone ever so obviously misunderstood the article.

Secret Sales have some Ben Sherman trainers for £17.50.
I've brought a pair but it says they were £65 originally. Xx

DrLucyVanPelt · 05/10/2024 08:06

Whistlefish cards arrived and absolutely chuffed with them. My mum also ordered but had an issue with wrong items being sent- their customer service was fantastic in sorting it. Will definitely order from them again!

Apple are building in AI now so older handsets won’t support that - maybe that’s what you were reading about.

Did someone post recently about spotting a baby Guinness shot set? If so, can anyone remember where it was from? I’ve skimmed through the thread and also tried advance searching ‘Guiness’ but no joy!!

Someaddedsugar · 05/10/2024 08:27

B&M @JulietSierra - they're £8 on the website

I need to buy 2 x Samsung Galaxy phones 🙈
Only need to be the A series. Anyone know where the best place is to buy? Trying to work out whether it’s worth waiting for an Argos offer, whether to wait for Black Friday or if I should just bite the bullet and order now.

Talisin · 05/10/2024 08:38

MayaTheBusyBee · 05/10/2024 03:02

Thanks! Just did a click & collect to my local store. That’ll go very nicely with my new diffuser 😁

In my search for find the cheapest Benefit POREFessional skincare set (one that includes full size mosituriser rather than face mask - I haven't been successful) I found this John Lewis deal:

Free set when you spend £50 on benefit

It seems a pretty good deal, especially if you are already buying benefit products.

30% off Montessori toys at Jacques. Just had an email but it’s a generic code

MAGIC30

some lovely wooden toys

www.jaqueslondon.co.uk/collections/montessori-magic?filter.v.price.gte=&filter.v.price.lte=&sort_by=price-ascending

Thanks for this- some gorgeous toys on there! Just bought some lovely sensory blocks for my little one.
Code MAGIC30 only seems to work on full price items, they are currently running the code AUTUMN25 which works for discounted toys too.

I've used Back Market recently and bought refurbished, both phones I've had were in excellent condition and been very happy with them. Discount off RRP varies but there is some great bargains to be had

I'm now thinking my son would like one of the cuddle cushions a few of you have mentioned. Is there such a thing as a sonic or minecraft or mario one?

I got my son a gaming one last year from Matalan, they have one this year too

Hi, just a heads up on the Solace £10 deal and FIRST25 code, (which worked for me this morning), all sold out apart from Rose Gold and Silver3, (I don’t know what that last material is).

Thought I’d mention in case anyone here was ‘getting round’ to an order.

I didn’t go ahead myself, as have been spending too much🙀

Is anyone else who got cards last weekend wondering if it's worth getting stocked up for 2026?!! Grin
