Thread 3 - The one with the Grim Giftsets

Thanks to @SpottyBumPony for giving us such a grim code Xmas Grin

I've spent the afternoon going through the Christmas list and feeling very overwhelmed about how much to get and how much it'll all cost. I need to get control and organised.

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Anyone do bullet journaling? I want to order a preprinted one, rather than a dotted paper one, but I'm mostly finding pdfs on etsy which isn't what I want at all. And the one I saw on FB adverts which gave me the idea didn't have great reviews unfortunately

Scribbles that matter have a pre printed journal. I use their dotted journals and they are brilliant quality. Mine goes everywhere with me and takes a battering.

Mainly for stocking fillers and to stock up the preseht cupboard. I think it was poundtoy that wax recommend last year but I thought there were a couple of others too

Thanks to whoever linked the Melissa and Doug pizza shop, I got it for £25 and I've just seen it's back up at £46. That's one off the list! Does anyone know where is good for getting bargainous wooden role play toys?

To be split with DM ..

Now...to make sure I don't loose the birthday cards that are not needed till next year !

I was the same when adding cards to my basket and going back to count them 😂

I've made up a folder with all the months of the year and I put all my birthday/occasion cards in the month of the birthday. I am not that organised that I write them first but hoping they'll come 😂 I've got a Christmas section at the back for all my relation cards.

Aldis (or Lidl?) have a wooden toy sale coming up. In previous years, it's been worth a look.

Haven’t RTFT yet but heads up the spicery are doing legends month again in October. All sorts of offers for members but the kits are reduced by 1/3
ill put my referral code in the thread 10%off & I get £5 credit. Not sure if it stacks though

£10.00 Aeropress from Pact when you sign up for a subscription. I haven’t used them before but seen them on previous threads, looks like cancellation will be easy enough.

okayhescereal · 30/09/2024 08:38

@PumpkinSpicedTea @bizzey did you see the birthday book someone linked on the last thread? It had different pages for each month where you write the birthdays, and then a pouch for each page to slot the different cards into so it's right there when you need it. Very clever!

CandyRaining · 30/09/2024 08:50

Thanks for the new thread reastie.
I’m a Lakeland newbie having bought from them just once before. Can anyone recommend anything from there? Either for Christmas gifts or for me hehe. I got some really good cleaning tools from there before which really help me day to day so anything along those lines?
(If you have a Lakeland account check your emails as there should be a 20% off code).

Brand Alley have quite a few wooden toys

humblebea · 30/09/2024 09:18

I loved the birthday card book idea and I’ve just seen if you shop on the busyb website rather than Amazon, they have a few styles reduced to £7.99. There’s also a 10% signing up to newsletter discount.

The Works have some good bargains.

I just ordered 3 toys off their 3 for £15 list, one for a birthday gift, 2 for Christmas. Ordered with free click and collect which means you get 10% off in store purchases on the day you collect so you could then get the same items in store for £13.50. Each item was £7 or over for me so a saving of £7.50 ☺️

Also ordered some stocking fillers like winter themed eraser pack for £1

Recommend always checking Quidco for cash back offers before shopping, even if it’s a small amount spending it’s worth doing as all tots up. Eg. Got 60p back from The Works but earlier in the year I got £20 cash back when ordering school uniform on TU clothing because of an insane offer they had on.

I haven't caught up with the thread yet so you may already have had lots of suggestions. I use one of these accordion files with space for each month. Helps me not to loose any and also I can check at the beginning of the month what birthdays I have coming up as I try and pre-write cards so they are ready to go.

Does anyone know of any good brands for natural make up for kids, my 6 year old wants makeup brushes and eyeshadow but I'd rather get something less chemical for on her skin, google is sending me to miss nella wondering if they're good.

I was on the look out for this too. Have a look at the natural play make up company. I’ve not had anything from them yet but there reviews seem great. There little sets look lovely too so think that’s what I’m going with

mybrainisbusybeingawesome · 30/09/2024 11:32

Very have this baby born bassinet for £21.99. It's still £43 everywhere else. DD's list is almost complete now ☺️

I’ve got some excellent wooden toys on vinted. Also there’s the Aldi event coming up - get up early for that tho 😂
