A restaurant voucher. Email print out.

I feel really flat and deflated. Aibu to feel like this? Obviously said thank you but just seems like he couldn't be bothered.
Wouldn't even pay for a whole meal anyway.

That is a bit boring

AutumnBride · 25/12/2023 07:30

DP is wonderful in lots ways but presents aren't his forte. I'm getting something I saw and suggested that he forgot to wrap and tickets to a show I want to see (he doesn't but he's going with me) that are on his phone.

I rarely get any surprises at Christmas.

My exH was good at surprises but often made expensive mistakes, so on balance ......

Monsterjam · 25/12/2023 07:33

Mine excelled himself.
a necklace , Lego, a jumper I wanted and fancy tea. He did much better than I did for him. Happy Christmas

Dinnertimewoop · 25/12/2023 07:36

I'd tell him you are disappointed OP. Next year, just send him a link to what you'd like.

Copperoliverbear · 25/12/2023 07:36

I would try tell him how disappointed I was and how it won't even cover a meal, also that is not only for you. X

I'd say he forgot to buy you anything.

grayhairdontcare · 25/12/2023 07:39

I would arrange to go to the restaurant with a friend so it would cover your own meal

namechangedforthisone35 · 25/12/2023 07:52

It wasn't even last minute. It was printed on 7/12. I'm sad.

Mine went to Bluewater, left the house at 4pm yesterday - obviously found nothing in the half hour he was there so I got £200 cash in a card from my card box.

I’m not complaining, I only spent £50 on him BUT got him a relevant ‘Husband’ card, large bottle of Baileys, big bar of Chocolate, pack of socks (badly needed), jar of homemade Marinade and bar of handmade Coconut Ice from the Farmers Market and a 6 pack of Hula Hoops.

I got him things I know he’ll like and while he’s given me more I feel that mine is
the better present 😊

festivepains · 25/12/2023 07:56

As long as he's not expecting it to cover his half of the meal too!

LLInADaze · 25/12/2023 07:57

I would honestly love this. Something to look forward to in January.

FrostieBoabby · 25/12/2023 07:57

Take a photo and refer back to it next year and make sure you get him an equally shitty present. He'll be expecting to come along and get a free lunch too....

0scilla · 25/12/2023 07:59

I'd love that. Stop being so grabby and just enjoy life

whirlyhead · 25/12/2023 07:59

Nothing as we agreed not to do presents (though I got him a bottle of wine).

he is however making breakfast and lunch plus I’m getting Buck’s Fizz so I’m happy.

wineosaurus4 · 25/12/2023 07:59

My much needed and loved new pair of Ugg slippers, a straightening brush, face serum & perfume. I do need to point out though I ordered it all for myself using his card, but I'm pleased! He also chose a beer keg machine from me which was set up last night and running good to go for today. Merry Christmas to you all Xmas Blush

GenXisthebest · 25/12/2023 08:00

I would like this! As long as it's a nice restaurant. You can have a lovely meal out together.

GreatGateauxsby · 25/12/2023 08:02

Well I wouldn't be going with him to redeem it.

It is at least a fancy place or somewhere you want to go ?

FormerlySpeckledyHen · 25/12/2023 08:15

Oh dear. Thats on a par with my FIL buying my MIL a kettle one year.
We don’t buy each other anything so no disappointments here 👍

C1N1C · 25/12/2023 08:21

Sooo... planned in advance, a day you don't have to cook, a romantic day out together with your husband???

As opposed to 'walked by a shop and bought a necklace to shut you up'...

WhichEllie · 25/12/2023 08:26

That’s rubbish OP, I’m sorry. I agree that you should take a friend or something.

Unfortunately it looks like your thread title is causing people to come charging in sharing what their partners got them without bothering to read the OP, so I’m also sorry about that.

NooNakedJacuzziness · 25/12/2023 08:28

Go by yourself OP and spend anything left after your food on booze.

TootsyPants · 25/12/2023 08:31

My husband got me a tablet which I bought myself 2 weeks ago from the joint account. Nothing else so nothing to open from him this morning.

He got the various clothing items that he wanted and some beers that he likes. I spent a long time tramping round the shops for these items.

This is the first time ever (25+ years) that I didn't have any stocking filler type gifts to open. That hurts....no thought at all.

I think that's the thing. If one party is a gift giver and takes time and makes effort then yeah it is a bit shit to not get that effort back. Especially if they go Oooh what lovely thoughtful gifts.

Oh dear. This is what I got my dd and her husband. They seemed pretty happy with it though, they can't really afford to go out to eat very often.

Missing the point a bit. He should be be sharing the effort of Christmas day cooking etc anyway. A print out is lacking in effort.

I've gone back to the OP, where does it say he's cooking etc ??
