Read lots of posts on here people saying they are looking forward to a nice break over Christmas.
How long do you have off? Do you have to book leave?
I work shifts. They've fallen ok just before Christmas so I break up on 21st but then I'm back in on period between Christmas & New Year.

My work is closing the 16th of December and isn't open till the 3rd... so it's a bit rubbish for money.

EspeciallyD · 10/12/2022 08:21

I work Mon-Wed so I only need to book one day to be off from 22nd Dec to 03 Jan (the bank hols are taken out of my leave at the start of the year).

ohneilthebaby · 10/12/2022 08:21

Our work closes on the 21st, then back on the 4th Jan.
Its a family run business and it's the only time we can guarantee holiday as our customers all close too!
Can't bloody wait 🎅

WalesStar · 10/12/2022 08:22

I finish on 14th and back in on 3rd January. But I don’t work Thursday/Friday and I’ve booked w/c 19th off. The time between Xmas and new year our office is closed and this is taken from our annual leave.

HaveANiceFuckingDay · 10/12/2022 08:23

I'm off 2 days . Christmas day until 27th Dec

Elmo230885 · 10/12/2022 08:23

I started a new job at the start of Novemebr and couldn't take leave for the first 6 weeks due to training. They have basically put my leave in for me at the end of the year. I finish on 22nd and don't go back until 3rd which is nice. I don't work Bank Holidays anyway so it's fallen quite nicely.

PeonyRose80 · 10/12/2022 08:24

wow, I have just the BH off so finish on 23rd, back 28-30, then off til 3rd.
Still be nice to have a break though- and no school runs for 2 weeks!

Chasingsquirrels · 10/12/2022 08:24

We close at midday on Christmas Eve (or the Friday when Christmas Eve is a Saturday or Sunday) and reopen following the NYD bank holiday.

Christmas Eve afternoon is an extra and we have to save enough holiday for the days between Christmas and NY.

Professional services office.

OddBoots · 10/12/2022 08:25

I have a job that is closed on Bank Holidays, I have not booked any additional leave but having previously worked in jobs where Bank Holidays mean nothing I really appreciate being confident of being off those days.

RaininSummer · 10/12/2022 08:26

I have taken leave for the 2 days before Christmas and back into work on the Thursday 29th.

TabithaTittlemouse · 10/12/2022 08:26

Zero

Ragwort · 10/12/2022 08:26

Retail Grin - working on the 24th and then the shop is open again on the 27th although I have managed to take that day as AL. I honestly don't mind, it's not a great time of year to have leave. My DH used to have to take all of Christmas and New Year off and he didn't like it at all ... much rather have time off when he chose. Although he did offer to be on call which was the best of both worlds as he rarely got a call but didn't need to use AL.

MintJulia · 10/12/2022 08:27

I've taken 8 days holiday, so will have from the 17th - 3rd Jan.

But I'll be online most days for an hour because the business won't run itself. That's fine, I don't mind 🙂

Overthebow · 10/12/2022 08:27

I finish on the 22nd and back on the 3rd. I work part time so only have to take 1 days annual leave and the bank holidays for that. I’m so excited, it’s the longest I’ve had off all year.

Fridaysgirl17 · 10/12/2022 08:28

I'm a SAHM now but when I was working, for Christmas I'd have maybe 2 days together,I worked retail,Mothercare so we'd close early on Christmas Eve but we'd stay behind to set up the sales & depending on the year before you'd have either Christmas Eve or Stephens day (I'm in Ireland) off & then you'd have new years day, that was about it.

bravelittletiger · 10/12/2022 08:28

I finish on the 15th and not back until the 2nd!! So excited 😀

Iamclearlyamug · 10/12/2022 08:29

Very lucky here, close for Xmas on 23rd and back on the 3rd - full pay and doesn't count as holiday either. Not-for-profit education sector if that makes a difference

girlmom21 · 10/12/2022 08:29

I finish this coming Friday until the new year. I've booked off the week before Xmas and the 3 days in between are compulsory holiday.

Thedungeondragon · 10/12/2022 08:29

I work shifts too. So working until 7am Christmas day. I do then have my normal days off though, which have fallen well this year, so I'm not back in until the 28th. I am working nights over New Year too. To be fair it is a rubbish time of year to be forced to have time off as a lot of people are, as it is so cold and dark, there is a limit to what you can do. I'm quite happy to be working and take my leave in the spring and summer when I can get out and about.

mrsjg · 10/12/2022 08:31

I finish Christmas Eve and have the following four days off.

alloalloallo · 10/12/2022 08:31

I finish lunchtime on the 23rd

Back in on the 3rd January

We close completely, although one of us usually pops in for an hour or so to see the occasional customer

Oh & we were not allowed to book holidays during the month of December so no way of getting more 🤷🏻‍♀️

rookiemere · 10/12/2022 08:32

I finish on Thursday 15th Dec and am back on Wed 4th January.
A lovely long break - I am very fortunate, but it's mainly because DS was doing exams this year so didn't take enough leave earlier in the year.

Shirty48 · 10/12/2022 08:33

After debate around whether there needs to cover over Xmas, they finally agreed we don’t need to be in (project based team) so I finish Tuesday 20th and back on 4 Jan. I’ve had to cancel a couple of days leave to have enough to cover it but definitely worth it. I had offered to work 2 days after Xmas but secretly glad don’t have to even though I can wfh and it will be super quiet.

MrsMigginsCat · 10/12/2022 08:34

Working until 1pm on Xmas Eve, then back in on 29th. Should be 28th but I've managed to book a day's leave. Working on 30th then off until 3rd.
