Grrrr - over 15 items tesco subbed which I’ve had to return

Guess I’m going to the shops after all. How has everyone else done?

I'm waiting on mine, they've taken £30 less than they should have out my bank wonder whats not coming!

I'm really intrigued by those of you who are Tesco customers and who have had emails telling you what subs you are getting - we've been ordering online since 2000, had delivery saver since it first existed and have never had an email advising us of subs etc prior to delivery. IMO it's the only serious failing when comparing Tesco's online service to other supermarkets.

Morrisons email you before delivery too, so I always know what's missing or subbed before they arrive. It's really useful!

Ocardo have done well. Other than Swapping part backed baguettes for a lot of pan au chocolates & subbing the 8 large Yorkshire for 20 small I am really happy with what they have sent

No parsnips!
One short date dessert and two smaller size of tomatoes rather than two big ones. Why they didn’t sub with 4 smaller ones to make up the weight, I have no idea.

Asked mum to put it on her order today and exactly the same thing happened again. Perhaps Tesco are running short on tomatoes.

If it helps I went Morrisons and Aldi earlier. Lots of veg and plenty of turkey/ham etc, so I really wouldn't worry if you haven't got everything you need in your order.

@Erictheavocado I'm glad I'm not the only one not getting these emails. It would be so useful - especially this week where we're isolating but my mum will be visiting a supermarket a few hours before our delivery is due to arrive!

Just had my Sainsburys receipt on email.

7 subs and 2 short dates.

The latter is a couple of pizzas which are going in the freezer anyway.

Half the subs are equivalent to/better than what I'd ordered, the others are mildly disappointing (ie Castello Danish Blue rather than Creamy Blue, and garlic and herb soft cheese in a tub instead of roule) but not worth worrying about or making a trip to Tesco for.

I have 9 subs. No Christmas pudding. I don't even like the bloody thing but from my mum's reaction to the news I need to get one or find something else to set on fire.

Short dates on some veg which is fine.

Think I've fallen foul of the substitution promise tbh, my store doesn't like to give you vouchers for the difference so always send something cheaper even where it doesn't make sense.

We had ours last night too.

Anything non perishable was ordered last week

2 subs both very suitable - 750g mince subbed for 2 x 500g, and 950g chicken subbed for 1.6kg chicken 😁

1 not available - salad bowl. Who needs salad at Christmas when you have chocolate! 🤣

Not so happy with their Christmas food to order gammon joint which allegedly serves 6. It is tiny - the image must have been taken on a small saucer with a miniature orange!

Only 2 subs! I thought itd be a lot more. Veg spring rolls instead of duck spring rolls, and branded puff pastry instead of Sainsbury's (that's not for Christmas Day). All Christmas Dinner items present and correct.

DH is picking it up this afternoon, hope everything will be okay as we've had a few squashed items recently.

Subs were fine eg box of tissues for box of tissues, out of stock was nothing I'll lose sleep over so successful

I am now worried about the date on my preordered dessert, I usually make one but been so busy lately not had the time

I had my Waitrose delivery and only one sub, one type of beef slices for another type and that was fine.

3 subs and 1 unavailable but I did go and get the christmas essentials earlier in the week and the turkey etc was ordered so I knew it would come. Didn't expect it to be so small - says serves 4 but didn't specify 4 small children with no appetite

Most worrying was that although all the festive food to order was the right stuff, it all had someone else's name on - I think there were 6 things and only 1 actually had my name on. Someone's system didn't quite work there.

My Tesco order has just been charged to my card - £15 cheaper than the guide price so I guess a lot is missing :/ won't find out till collection tonight.

10 substitutions and 3 items completely unavailable on a £140 shop with Sainsbury’s. Thankfully had my mum on backup to nip out early this morning as I don’t want to face the shops this week with a baby

This is why I don't bother with online shopping. Far better going to the store when it's been planned in to your schedule and you're mentally prepared 😆

With Tesco if you send them a message (I use fb messaged) with your name, address inc postcode & email address they will email you the sheet that shows subs, short dates etc

Usually takes them about 20 mins to do it, I usually ask most weeks especially for an evening delivery

Just check your bank and once you've been charged then it will be available

Our delivery came this morning, most party food was subbed and no single cream but easily sorted by nipping to the small express store near us

Well I'm going to be drinking neat gin as ASDA have no tonic water and no lemons, apparently.
Worse things can happen.

Tesco this morning and only one sub (wensleydale and apricot instead if wensleydale and cranberry) and one undeliverable (tree-shaped cheeselets).

I did keep going in to edit and swapping things that were apparently unavailable.. Sometimes this meant swapping something I'd already swapped for my original choice as it came back in stock

I had about 7/8 subs and 1 unavailable. Most were ok I handed back 1 which was no good. Annoying thing is with Morrisons they charge u the more expensive price. So Morrisons nuts at £1.20 Substituted with kp nuts at £2.65! A few others were like that but I just took them I'd usually give them back I am not going near a shop now until after Christmas.

I did get the nice dessert which I was surprised at because I went to the store yesterday to try and grab the fresh stuff I thought I'd be in danger of not getting. The desserts were rubbish in store and another couple of things I cldnt get I got in my online order. Woohoo!

My Waitrose order came this morning with 4 subs and 2 unavailable items, none of them essential. I sent two of the subs back and nipped into M&S to pick up a Yule log and some bacon which were the unavailables.

I've never had a problem with Waitrose deliveries and I have my shopping from them every week.

Ocado today had two subs and nothing missing. Subs were sensible - one pack of prepackaged ham for another, and a different brand of tinned pineapple!

I don't get an email receipt from Tesco?

Anyway, sent DH to Aldi to grab the few missing bits (pigs in blankets, cream, parsnips, cheese), much quicker than having to do the whole shop so overall glad I did the online order.
