14 year old boy pain down below

I’m looking for advice really. My boy has groin pain after a bath tonight. He says he was fine before the bath and now has ball (testie) pain now. There doesn’t appear to be anything out of place but obviously not sure. We have asked and he says he hasn’t been kicked or accidentally hit by anything or anyone today at school.

we have contacted 111 awaiting a call back for their nurse or doctor. My mind is racing to wonder if the bath being a normal temperature has something to trigger it? He’s saying it’s just uncomfortable but also reports his calf is sore too? 🙈

we have a hot tub and he’s in and out of that all week with no issue. Any ideas please? TIA

Sending love, op. I hadn't seen this thread before today. I hope DS is on the mend soon.

ConstanceReid · 07/05/2023 10:46

Gosh you poor things. Hope he improves today.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 07/05/2023 10:50

Oh no op have just read this thread, also didn't know that ball pain in boys was a medical emergency, I'm so sorry to hear your update.

I really hope he starts to get well soon, my dd had a stint in PICU with sepsis so I know how stressful it can be. He is in the right place and the Drs and nurses looking after him will be experts on managing poorly children.

HumourReplacementTherapy · 07/05/2023 11:22

Oh blimey OP. He has been through it. I hope he turns the corner soon. Bet you're exhausted Flowers

BreatheFocusRelax · 07/05/2023 19:13

Xiaoxiong · 07/05/2023 20:43

Oh my goodness - well done you for recognising what to do - we had this last February with DS1 rushed into surgery for a torsion, I didn't realise it was so significant an issue until a friend who is a nurse yelled down the phone to me to rush him to A&E.

I really hope he is on the mend very soon and the consultant gives you some answers Flowers

YoungWild · 07/05/2023 21:21

Thank you so much all. He does in fact have sepsis now. They’ll come and see us at 8am for a review if it’s worse than now he’ll go to surgery again and have it washed out if not he will have daily wound dressing for a few days and then another review. He’s so tired had low blood pressure of 80/40 is his most recents and a high heart rate they said of 140😓he is having regular antibiotics in the drip. The wound does now look infected. Thanks to everyone who has helped me via PM I’m internally greatful 🥺

Floralnomad · 07/05/2023 21:51

Hope he starts to turn a corner and improve overnight @YoungWild .

CharlotteFlax · 07/05/2023 22:05

Crikey. As soon as I started reading this thread I was thinking "they've got to go to A&E to rule out testicular torsion." Thank goodness you did, and without waiting for effing 111 to not call you back!

Really hope things start getting much better for your boy. He's in the best place right now but I hope you can get him back home asap.

How are you doing? Are the nurses looking after you as well? Are you eating and managing showers etc?

Beach11 · 07/05/2023 22:10

Oh goodness your poor son and poor you with all the worry too, can't believe he has Sepsis on top of everything OP. Really hope you'll both be able to get some sleep and that he wakes up a bit brighter tomorrow. Thoughts are with you 💐

Daniki · 07/05/2023 22:51

Thanks for highlighting this, never knew! Although my public health nurse did tell me with my newborn to always check in the bath that they're there and if not straight to hospital.

Your poor son I hope he recovers soon, what a nightmare for him! At least he's in the best place to get treated and he will be spoilt rotten when he gets home ❤️
