Fuck fuck fuck nanny has resigned

I know she absolutely has the right to resign but I’m so cross! It’s been such a difficult year. DD only has another 9 months until she starts school then nanny could look after as many babies as she wants to (she’s taken a job looking after a 5 month old).

I’m also really disappointed she resigned via WhatsApp rather than calling me. I can understand that she wanted to avoid having a potentially difficult conversation but that’s what being a grown up is like, surely?

It will be fine, we will go back to more nursery and wrap around but I just wanted to let of steam with people who know how much I feel left in the lurch! Plus the additional organisational burden will almost certainly fall to me - the nanny was most helpful to me rather than DH and relieved so much of that burden.

@PalindromicUser what did you do for childcare now a month or so on. Assume nanny has left after her notice

I handed in my nanny resignation by email once, I had concerns the mum might be violent. I had a 6 week notice period and they waited until the night before my final day to ask me why I was leaving/beg me to stay.

Of COURSE it’s a total pain when childcare falls though, people are being idiots to suggest otherwise. I don’t blame her for taking this new job though, a nanny job has to be ‘the right fit’ and that can be hard to find. If she found it, she definitely should be taking it! Aside from that, make sure you did everything you could do be a decent boss- I’ve come across many who ‘have such bad luck with nannies’ and no, they’re just horrible bosses. Make sure that’s not you.
