Strangest places you've breastfed

Ok, it was me on the water bus in Venice. It was me with the screaming, hungry baby who popped out a boob and fed him while the boat bopped up and down on the waves.

You would have done the same, right?

Weirdest places you've had to feed?

I'd have definitely done the same!

Not particularly weird, but perhaps not common, was the Pavillion at the Oval cricket ground. Most people didn't notice as DD was tiny at the time, so fed without a theatrical performance (unlike now), but I did get a few flustered looks from the old boys who realised!

(ps. great thread! I'll watch with interest!).

Not breast fed but expressed: on various ski slopes in the Trois Vallees and once, during a snow storm, in a crowded mountain restaurant! ShockBlush

Watford

In church during a wedding ceremony.

Whilst actually walking the dog - DD in the Babasling, me pushing the pushchair.

In the back of the car, whilst DH was driving, with DD and I both in legally appropriate car restraints! I saw this in Kate Evans book 'The Food of Love' and thought "impossible" at the time, but did it last month on a long drive to Scotland!

HarrietJones · 13/06/2011 12:57

Not particularly strange but dd3 has fed at every school event since she was born in October. She is singlehandedly promoting breastfeeding as normal to primary school children. Including a huge burp in the middle of sports day presentation which entertained a huge group of year 5 sat in front of us!

Teenytiny · 13/06/2011 13:01

My son just doesn't do discreet anymore, the more boob on show the merrier. He likes to pull my top up/down, lean right back yanking my nipple and grin at me/DH/the waiter/the cat. Its all too much fun.

Oh for the old days when I could feed in the middle of Pizza Express lunchtime rush hour and no-one would notice...

I haven't done it anywhere unusual though, the reality is its easier to feed in the car before I get going, also warm and comfier than the average public bench.

Paschaelina · 13/06/2011 13:15

Oh, actually, I have fed him in a box at Brands Hatch during the support races for the BTCC last year, I sat comfortably in the corner with my coffee behind 15 blokes all cheering on the Clio Cup or some such thing. Smile

EauRouge · 13/06/2011 13:16

PMSL @ Watford Grin

I think the weirdest place for me was Luffield grandstand at Silverstone (DD1's ear defenders did not get in the way). Also managed to BF DD2 in a sling whilst walking around Whipsnade zoo. I was quite pleased with that, I am not too hot at BF in a sling.

I have a very impressive mental picture of prettybird skiing and expressing at the same time Grin

In a cafe in Pisa during the 2006 World Cup Final (Italy won) It was fine once he got used to the air horns. In one town in Tuscany there is a chapel dedicated to Our Lady of the Milk and they don't mean the kind that comes in a bottle!

catinboots · 13/06/2011 13:29

In a Confessional box in a Catholic church.

I was not confessing at the time Grin

Not sure about the strangest, but the most uncomfortable I remember was huddled next to a wall on a very rainy day in the Lake District.

sleepingbunny · 13/06/2011 13:50

On top of a Mayan pyramid at Palenque, South Mexico

Pagwatch · 13/06/2011 13:52

on the boundary at the oval.
it was very hot, the steward could see ds1 getting more flustered so he opened the gate and let us sit on the boundray Shock
it was an england matcg and devon malcolm took every wicket. ds1 bit down everytime the crowd roared.
it is probably on tv archive somewhere.

On most of rides in Disney world Grin - dd2 was 8 weeks and was at that stage of needing to be bf at every opportunity so I did. Anything slow or a show I just got on with it :)

Goober · 13/06/2011 14:16

In the aisles of Tescos. Baby in sling, inside coat, helping self!

Bunnyjo · 13/06/2011 14:20

Gosh I have fed everywhere from buses, trains, planes and cars to parks, cafes, hairdressers, spas etc...

Possibly the strangest place was when we were in Mexico - DD was 12mth at the time and demanded a feed when we were on a day trip - we were at Chichen Itza! The heat was over 40c and the humidity was stifling, so DD decided it would be a good time to demand a 40min feed!
