Strangest places you've breastfed

Ok, it was me on the water bus in Venice. It was me with the screaming, hungry baby who popped out a boob and fed him while the boat bopped up and down on the waves.

You would have done the same, right?

Weirdest places you've had to feed?

I can't remember all the places I've BF over the years, but I remember the M25 in a huge traffic jam. My DM was taking me and DS1 to the airport to fly back to the US and we were horribly late due to a huge traffic jam and DS1 was screaming with hunger in his car seat, so I climbed in the back and fed him. We made our flight - but only just. I had to be escorted from check-in to the gate!

Just down from the top of Scafell Pike, and in the Oxford Natural History Museum. Found a nice quiet corridor that I subsequently realised was nice and quiet because people were wandering up the stairs, seeing us and hastily scooting back down again.

I've fed my boys in lots of unusual places, one of my favourites being on studland beach feeding 13mth old twins. Had lots of interested looks!

DesertOrchid · 20/07/2012 19:20

In an ambulance whilst taking her to A&E at a week old. Something of a challenge.

PandaSpaniel · 20/07/2012 19:25

Not unusual in itself, but down at the local council office. I am single handedly tackling the statistics that single mums on a low income are less likely to breast feed lol

flowerfairy · 20/07/2012 19:25

Just remembered while meeting with the personal shopper in Debenhams, I think she was a little embarrassed but it was that or a screaming baby and not buying the clothes i had lined up.

Laying on a medical bed, legs apart having a copper coil inserted at weeks post-partum. The doc was convinced I was going to drop her off the egde of the bed!

ForgetCollette · 20/07/2012 19:26

Sorry, I meant at 12 weeks post-partum.

StarlightWithAsteroid · 20/07/2012 19:27

Recently, on a bouncy castle full of jumping children and on the stairs of a double decker.

StarlightWithAsteroid · 20/07/2012 19:29

Victoria line

Café area in Costco at Trafford Park

Cellar restaurant at Cross Keys when dd was about a week old, went out post feed thinking we had chance for a quick sandwich, and we didn't.

PickledLily · 20/07/2012 19:59

In the board room of a well known, multinational company. The room was empty at the time, but I was terrified the video conference would start up and broadcast me feeding DC to every office across the globe.

Brings a whole new meaning to the term 'live feed' Grin

NeopreneMermaid · 20/07/2012 20:07

In a tree

On a cliff top

While having my hair cut

While answering the door to the postman, feeding cushion in place around waist.

MissBetseyTrotwood · 20/07/2012 20:11

Dentist's chair. During a scale and polish.

MissBetseyTrotwood · 20/07/2012 20:12

Oh and next to Stonehenge.

nannyl · 20/07/2012 20:27

in my solicitors office while having a meeting with her!

(I did ask though, and i wouldnt normally ask anyone!)

Amitolamummy · 20/07/2012 20:31

I breastfeed anywhere but I guess the strangest and most abnormal was sitting on the ground in the middle of a supermarket aisle. I had walked around feeding him for a while but with a tantruming child too I gave up and sat down :)

Fudgehomnomnom · 20/07/2012 20:33

McDonalds! akward giraffe (sorry got it from dd)

agendabender · 20/07/2012 20:34

on the tube
in an opera house
on the beach
during Mass
leaning over the car seat while DH driving...some of these are really good ladies!

agendabender · 20/07/2012 20:36

oh we've done the dentist's chair too!

creativepebble · 20/07/2012 20:38

Expressed in a cupboard at work

Fed in church lots (but not particularly weird)

Fed in the small optician's room while having eyes tested Blush

Fed at the dinner table under a big shawl thing while next to my Dad who was none the wiser until I lifted dd up after and she burped. Proud of that one as she was tiny and I was going through the really painful phase and I kept eating and didn't wince...

Some of these are brilliant! Way to go ladies.

EcoLady · 20/07/2012 20:49

Fed DS at the top of the Sky Tower in Auckland.

Fed DD in a meeting discussing restructuring and potential redundancies at work. I was on Mat Leave after her prem birth and she was still under 4lbs, but I went in because it was so important. The senior manager was very distracted when he realised what I was doing, about 10 mins into the feed. I was not made redundant!

GEM33 · 20/07/2012 21:04

on the loo,
up a mountain sat on a stile
changing room in asda
standing up on the side of a busy road as no where else to go
hair dressers
in a meeting with the vicar arranging baptism

SrirachaGirl · 20/07/2012 21:35

At the hair dressers. In our lawyer's office while sorting out mortgage details. This was 10 years ago but my cheeks still burn with embarrassment Blush.

Cosmosis · 20/07/2012 21:43

Don't be embarrassed, be proud Smile
